Cheese bagel with regular CC and Onion bagel with vegan chive and garlic CC
    Diana C.

Their vegan cream cheese is a national treasure. We built a whole outing yesterday around buying some lol. No regrets. Love their vegan scallion cream cheese and wish they shipped it or sold it in stores in little tubs. The service was excellent. She got me 6 2oz little things of it since they didn't have the tubs. I will take it any way I can and this actually helps me with portion sizing so I love this strat. Another thing I love is that their patio is dog friendly. I'm a big fan of anywhere I can eat delicious food allergy free with my dog so I am basically a BB stan for life now. No notes. Highly recommend. Please sell your vegan CC commercially so I can get my fix lol.

Amazing bagels - I highly recommend the lox bagel. Wouldn't change a single thing about it! Fast and friendly service even though there was quite the line. Modern simple ambiance!

Continuing our quest to try all of the bagel spots in the Seattle area, we hit up Backyard Bagel on a quiet Saturday morning. It was early enough that we were able to walk up and order straight away. We shared an everything and sea salt bagel with scallion cream cheese. The everything bagel was warm with great depth of flavor, 5 stars. The sea salt had a good flavor but wasn't warm (not sure if warm for any of the bagels is normal or random) and that brought the review down slightly. Nice ambiance and good seating. It was busier with a bit of a line as we were leaving. Parking was easy but I could see it being a challenge as the day goes on.

Parking wasn't the easiest, but the bagels made it worth it. I had a salt bagel with plain schmear and the texture was perfect. Soft and springy inside with a nice chew on the outside. I also took three bagels to go, including the jalapeño cheddar weekly special, which ended up being way better than I expected. Service was kind and quick. I'll be back for sure.

Yummy bagels! Texture wise could have been a bit more chewy, but overall good bagels. Recommend the BLT bagel!

I've only heard great things about Backyard Bagel, and finally got the chance to venture up to this area of Fremont to try it! I got an everything bagel with lox and red onions. The bagel was served warm and not toasted, but had the most perfect chewy doughy texture. The lox and onions were fresh too and paired really well with the bagel! I will say it was on the smaller size, but the price was reasonable so I didn't have many complaints. I'd definitely come back!

Tried this place again after a year because so many people like but I have no clue why the cream cheese is just way too gritty and the flavor is so off.

Bagels are sure having a moment in the greater Seattle area with long queues in search of freshness, quality, and variety. Love it when it's a sunny late afternoon. Usually sun starved folks venture out and it's that sweet spot before closing. I happen to visit a nearby bookstore and Backyard Bagel was midway back to my car (4/13/25). I used to live next door to Bagel Oasis in Ravenna. I've tried out Eltana, Zylberschtein's, Rubinstein, Oxbow, Mt. Bagel, Toasted, and now have the opportunity to check out Backyard Bagel. I kept it pretty basic - one plain bagel, halved with a scallion schmear for $5.50. Strictly no toasting available. I decided to dine onsite, look closely at the menu, and featured merch. Service from purchase to preparation was efficient and pleasant. Definitely a major step over grocery store dense bagel weaponry or ginormous meh bagels from Costco. For quality carbs, Backyard Bagel in Fremont is a great option.

Went out of my way to come here to get a lox bagel based off of the reviews and I was impressed. I did come here pretty late considering that they close in the early afternoon. Because of that, I wasn't able to try the Everything bagel. I got sesame instead (and it was last one unfortunately). It was a bit pricey honestly, but very good. Staff wasn't overly friendly or anything, but I'm still glad I came to try it!

I was violently craving a bagel last night and decided to come here on a whim today! I wasn't sure if I should be expecting a line but I came in the afternoon and there was no wait. Inside is very cute and clean, good amount of seating from their back patio to the front of the store. I came here specifically for the Ballard Lox sandwich ($16) and it did not disappoint!! Got it on their everything bagel, the bagel itself had a good outer crust but still soft and bouncy on the inside. Flavors were spot on, the pickled red onions and cucumbers gave it such a nice freshness. 10/10 would definitely get again I also bought some bulk for home, 3 bagels and an 8oz schmear for $16. I went with another everything bagel, jalapeño cheddar and onion with plain schmear. Excited to try the rest of these!

Service here is friendly. The space is fairly large, but the actual customer seating space is small. It's a clean and pleasant space. Bagel sandwiches are good. Some unusual combos, but good flavor (not bombshell great, but good). Bagels are some of the best around the region. Top 4, maybe 3 for certain. Not too big and not too small, with a little tear resistance on the outside and fluffyish interior. Two things I didn't like were that the everything mix is very garlic-heavy, and its sesame seeds are just okay; it also has too much salt. On the other hand, the salted doesn't have enough salt. So, odd. Neither is a big deal, and these are still great bagels. Schmears are tasty, and the non-traditional, more creative ones are better than the more traditional flavors. In fact, some of the standard ones are good but not great. And there is no lox schmear. This is one of four or five bagel places in the region that I would drive an hour to get to, especially to carry out a baker's dozen bagels. It's one of the three or four in Seattle proper like that. Good stuff.

This place is definitely one of the best bagels I've had in the Seattle area!! They have a decent variety of bagel and smear flavors, and the coffee is good but not anything special. Pretty often there's a line outside but it tends to move pretty quick, in the handful of times I've been here I have never waiting more than 20 minutes (but maybe that'll get better now that they opened the new location in Laurelhurst!). Inside is nice with a good amount of seating and cute decor, everyone on the team is always very friendly and busy!

Crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside- yummy bagels found here!... service is efficient, umbrellas are at the door if you need to stand in line, the place is small with limited indoor seating, highly recommend take it to-go . The ambience is new and bright.

The Mean: Corned beef was not the most tender (I'm still partial to Dingfelder's), but it's well seasoned. Mint with mustard is a combination I never would have guessed would work, but the sharpness complemented each other nicely. Red cabbage had a nice tang and the soft bun for the contrast of texture. The Steak Tartare Club: Steak tartare surprisingly mild, almost feels more like a BLT with a background of slight beefy squishy texture (but in a good way!). The yuzu kosho was not too spicy and the rye bread toasted to a crisp added a good bit of crunch and almost nutty flavor. Will be back for the Hama Hama Oyster Po'Boy.

Lorenzo opened Paseo in 1994, where his popular Cuban roast pork sandwiches were regarded as among the best in the country. After years of local expansion, Paseo abruptly filed for bankruptcy in 2014. The brand was subsequently bought out by a local entrepreneur, but the sale did not include Paseo's secret recipes (the reboot attempted to reverse engineer the sandwiches with varying success). So, in 2015, Lorenzo's sons revived Paseo under a new name, Un Bien, armed with their father's original recipes. Nowadays, Un Bien is generally regarded as superior to Paseo, and you can grab their Caribbean sandos at one of the three locations across Seattle. You can't miss the pastel pink-and-teal palette of the original shack on an otherwise drab block of Ballard. As you approach the wooden window, you are greeted by the aroma of sauteed meats and veggies. Communal laquered wood benches are lined up underneath a covered pergola. Fifties hits ring respectfully around the kitchen. My partner and I visited for late weekday lunch, and we ordered immediately. We opted to focus on the signature pork shoulder, so we split the #1 Caribbean Roast and #2 The Press. Across both sandwiches, we were impressed by the tender pork, rich onions, lemon-forward aioli, and marinade-soaked baguette. The standard roast pork sandwich added on pickled jalapenos and crisp romaine, culminating in a dynamic flavor that accentuated the meat. Meanwhile, The Press featured tart banana peppers, smoked ham, and melty Swiss, amping up the sweet and savory flavors alike; we agreed that this extra-messy sandwich just edged out the standard version. Our order took just minutes to be prepared, and the bill just topped $30. Despite the fanfare, I still found myself surprised by just how satisfying Un Bien's sandwiches turned out to be. Across all the food I ate in Seattle, only these pork sandwiches would be worth a return visit, even if I had to venture out of my way.

We ordered promptly, but were told we would only have about 10 minutes to use the seating area before it closed. When we asked for clarification because the restaurant was advertised as being open until 9:00 PM, staff confirmed they were open until then but said the seating area would close earlier anyway. After receiving our food, we were told not to sit down and were asked to leave the seating area altogether. The interaction felt abrupt and discourteous, especially given that we had arrived well before closing and had purchased food with the expectation that we could eat on-site. The food itself was average, but the poor customer service and inconsistent messaging about seating left a much stronger impression than the meal. There are other better places. Skip.

While other Serious Pie locations tend to be semi-upscale-yet-casual pizza joints, this spot felt more like an afterthought with its small, dark space and decidedly hole-in-the-wall vibe. The good news is, the pizza was still delish, as it always is at Serious Pie. We enjoyed the sweet sausage pizza that has become a fave over the years, along with a couple of beers which were served in plastic pint "glasses". Okay, I'm sure this makes me sound like a beer snob, but plastic?! Good beer just doesn't taste good in plastic. (Unless you're at a frat party?) Our server (who, by the way, was excellent) later told us he'd accidentally used the wrong glasses for the beer; so apparently it's something they're fixing. Yay! It was also darn cold inside. We had to keep our coats on the entire time. A door between the restaurant area and the semi-open entrance to what appears to be their central storage area would most likely help. Again, this all probably seems a bit petty. I'll own that. But as someone who loves Tom Douglas and his restaurants, and has had great experiences at other Serious Pie locations, this one was a disappointment. Especially since they're charging the same (some might say elevated) prices as they do at the other locations. Maybe if they called it something else, to differentiate it? Serious Pie Lite? Semi-Serious Pie? I dunno, but I expected just a little bit better from this iconic local brand.
