Oxbow is a hidden gem. The pizza is delicious and affordable at $5 a slice. I discovered a new kombucha in their fridge that is amazing and local (puget sound kombucha co) and lastly when I checked out they didn't flip the iPad on me and ask for a tip! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the vibes and food and I will definitely be back for jazz friday again soon![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Generally I don't even like sandwiches. Oxbow's veggie sandwich was AMAZING- so flavorful and fresh. And sizable. At $14, it is a good deal for Seattle.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a super cute cafe in Montlake with bagels and other baked goods.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their lemon poppy scone was great and they also have gluten free options which looked good. The coffee, however, just tasted like milk, and the hot chocolate was not sweet. However, some people like the more bittersweet chocolate flavor, so this might be for you if that's the case!

I went to this coffee shop with my husband and family and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the shop itself is super cute and cozy with a lot of indoor seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Allegedly this place is known for their pastry items which I did not try but they looked beautiful (see photos). What my husband and I did try however was a mocha and hot chocolate. Not good unfortunately. No whipcream either. The mocha just tasted like whole milk with no chocolate flavor at all and the hot chocolate was dark and had no flavor. I think you should order pastries and not chocolate drinks at this place. But for coffee I'd rather go to Starbucks than this because it was 7 dollars for each of our drinks which is crazy for the quality.

Salmon bagel, dry and hard to eat

My experience at Oxbow was a bit rough. I had their salmon bagel sandwich, which is my go-to benchmark order. Their core product--the bagel--was dramatically overbaked and thin. This made it into more of a cracker than a bagel. Additionally, they opt to use an awkwardly shaped lump of smoked salmon in the middle of the bagel vs. lox, contributing to an overall dryness and awkward eating experience. For a place that highlights their house-made bagels (you can watch the process through the window) , and even teaches classes on the topic, this product was surprisingly poor. It's not all bad, service was good and they appear to be locally popular and used as a gathering space. That said, I won't be back.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool and spacious spot to hang out and to get a coffee. The high ceilings give it a cool, expansive feeling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, the food and service were just okay. I was disappointed in the food. We got a bagel, cheese knot, and pizza. All mediocre; all were kind of hard and dry. The pizza was a bit too crunchy and salty. Service wasn't the friendliest or the most welcoming, either. So I would just say, "meh", if I were asked about this place.

Pretty solid bagel spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was lively on a Sunday morning but the space inside is fairly large, so there's a good amount of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They offer sandwiches and other baked goods, but I went with a sesame bagel and plain cream cheese. It was pretty standard overall, but if you prefer bagels that are dense and chewy, you'll really enjoy this. I had mine toasted and loved the extra crispiness on the outside. Service was efficient and the overall experience was great.

We came here on MLK day around noon and it was packed! Don't be intimidated if there's a long line, it moves quickly! You order at the counter, find a table, and they call out your name with your food if they haven't already handed it to you when you order. We liked that this cafe has pastries, pizza by the slice (freshly baked after 12pm) and bagels, and they were all good! We especially loved how the pizza was crispy on the bottom even with it being a super thin crust. We were all happy with our food and agreed we would come back and try more things next time. Also, prices were very reasonable and gotta love easy free neighborhood street parking too. I'd recommend Oxbow for a casual breakfast, lunch or snack spot!

Hubby and I stopped at Oxbow around 2:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon. I've heard about this place and wanted to stop by to see what it was all about. It looked like the display case was picked over. We did manage to enjoy our sampling of pepperoni pizza with crisp crust, cheese knot, almond & date biscotti and an 8 oz. mocha. I liked that they had a variety of pizza slices available. Both the pizza and cheese knot were warmed up for us. Oxbow had a welcoming vibe, service was friendly and prompt, and we found parking out front. Hubby and I are enjoying trying new spots in new/different (than our) neighborhoods. We plan to stop by again, hopefully earlier in the day, so we can see the rest of what Oxbow offers.

I love this place! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The environment is great. Very open and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like how they have the bakery on one end and the beverages on the other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Eventually, I'd love to try their wine selection, but on a Sunday at 11 I decided to opt for the latte :P my bagel and my partners bagel were so delicious. Do I wish it was bigger? Yes, but I also walked away being full and satisfied! Can't beat that.

I feel like you gotta fight tooth and nail to get a good bagel in Seattle, and this spot is worth it. Very often a line out the door, but you'll never miss with a breakfast bagel here. Lox cream cheese + pickled onions is just how you win. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a decent amount of seating even with the line out the door.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great bagel haunt

This place rocks! Pizza, pastries, coffee, a great dining area and space to hang out. Everything I want in a spot like this. They bake pizzas all day long so they're always in stock and fresh :D When ordering there is always some pizza prep to watch which is really fun. They usually have 1-2 pizza specials. On this day it was succotash and eggplant parm and both were fantastic :)

The bakery and sales area take uo the entire ground floor of an unassuming house in a residential neighborhood. Clean, light and airy atmosphere with plenty of room to work. The metal shelves were superbly organized and packed full of bagels. Easy to get to by bus from downtown. Charming and cheerful staff. I went on a Saturday morning around 1030 and there was only a small line, which moved very quickly. This is not a cafe - you are here to buy bagels and the fixings. Okay, they also sell coffee and tea, muffins, and a yummy chocolate chip cookie. (Had to try one if I'm coming all the way from downtown!) Bagels were baked perfectly. Each one looks as if it was made individually- the level of detail of the flavors, rhe color, the texture. Nice chewy crust with a light interior. They toast up beautifully (at home - no slicing or roasting at the bakery). This is a bagel that says "hey, have another one" rather than the kind which lay in your stomach. I didn't try the spreads, but have absolute confidence that they would be marvelous. Worth every second of the 30-minute bus ride. Heck. Go out of your way to come here!

We tried the pizza bagel and the everything bagel with chive schmear. The flavors were spot on; the everything bagel had a great seasoning ratio, and the chive schmear was fresh and creamy. My particular bagel was a little on the drier side, but even then, it is still a very strong contender for Seattle standards. If you are looking for a high-quality bagel and don't mind a little line, this place is definitely a must-visit. I'll be back to try a few more of their schmear flavors soon!

On my most recent visit, I also tried the black sesame bagel with butter. It was good, but there was a bit more butter than I would have preferred, and the standard toast wasn't quite crispy enough for my liking. That's an easy fix though, and I'll just ask for it toasted a bit longer and less butter next time. I really love the location of this spot and am hoping to check out their other location soon. They share a great outdoor seating area with Sea Wolf Bakers and also have a small amount of indoor seating. There's usually a line on weekday mornings and a longer one on weekends, but it moves surprisingly quickly, so the wait has never felt unreasonable. One thing I especially appreciate is how light these bagels are compared to some other Seattle bagel shops. They have a great chew without feeling overly dense. Service has always been friendly and efficient. I still haven't tried any of their fish sandwiches, but that's next on my list. Until then, I'm perfectly happy sticking with a classic sesame bagel and cream cheese.

Bonus: this spot is kosher! Potato Latkes (5/5): These latkes are thick boys and fried up so they're piping hot when they hit the table. Because of their size, you really get the contrast of the hard crunch on the outside with super fluffy potato inside. So good we immediately turned around and ordered more. Chocolate Babka (2/5): This was truly the only miss I've had here. Unfortunately, the babka just really dries out after it's been sliced, which is a shame because it's just gorgeous with generous swirls of chocolate inside. Reuben (5/5): I really thought their pastrami couldn't be beat, but the brisket is dare I say better? Just as tender and feels a bit less fatty, so it's a little more crushable. Tip: go for the seeded rye over the marbled rye; something about the marbled rye just falls apart a bit more with the juices of the meat, though it's still delicious! Black & White Cookies (4/5): I expected this to be cloyingly sweet, but this was actually scrumptious with some fresh lemon flavor in the cookie itself. Absolutely massive as well.

Do you happen to live in Washington and miss said pastrami sando? My friend, I have good news for you. This place doesn't screw around. If you want a great, hearty, flavor-packed sandwich, this is one of the best places to throw your money. A few things to consider: I've never had a bagel on its own here, only a bagel sandwich. So I don't feel as though I can give an expert opinion on the bagels. However, they do work very well for the sandwiches. The everything bagel is absolutely loaded with seasoning, and has an incredible saltiness (I'm a salty man, so this is a good thing). I feel as though this elevates the eggs to a new level. I was immediately drawn to a pastrami breakfast sandwich, because it's a top tier meat. This will feel more like you're eating thin roast beef because of the color, but it's still pretty good. I do think that this sandwich needs some acidity to balance out all of the fat, so grab some hot sauce at the counter. Overall this was a great sandwich, and I would get it again. That being said, I feel like the bagels are lacking due to a fault in a core ingredient. They all come with potatoes, and I think that they're either boiled or not quite roasted enough. Having to deal with undercooked potatoes dispersed throughout a mondo burrito is a battle that I'm unwilling to wage - but people seem to love 'em. The other ingredients and overall flavor is nice, though. Rachel's is a fun place with good coffee, too. And they let me bring my dog in which is dope.
