After not seeing them for close to 2 years, I took my team to brunch at Bacon and Jam. They live in the south burbs so I wanted to make it easy on them. The place is cute and service is great. The breakfasts are so hearty, each of them had something leftover to take home! I had the Opa! omlette and it was very tasty. Anything with goat cheese or feta will always catch my eye. Came here on a Sunday first time here. It was a great experience for the most part the service was okay and the food was good. There was about a 15 min wait, didn't really care for the table I was seated at. The table was literally next to the register people waiting to pay their bill they sat their items on the table I sat at which was rude. My cousin was turned off because the silverware was extremely dirty she requested plastic utensils. The waitress was not super attentive she walked away very fast before you could ask for something. The food took longer than expected for breakfast. The food was great, better than expected. I had the waffle special 2 eggs, hash browns and bacon. The bacon was the saltiest bacon I've ever had in ny life. The waffle was perfect nice and fluffy. My cousin had the French toast special with strawberries hash browns, eggs and bacon. As many times as I've been here how have I NOT given Bacon and Jam a proper review? Well let's change that immediately... This is definitely one of my go to breakfast places. They don't have a huge menu but everything they make is really good. Their parking lot is small and street parking can be annoying but inside the servers are great. The coffee is good and strong and their Benedict's are incredible. They have a breakfast sandwich with the bacon jam and if is soooo good! The omelettes are also well done! I honestly can not think of a bad thing I've had about the dozen times I've been here or ordered out. I rather come here then a large chain breakfast place any day of the week. read more

Ok guys let me give you the break down of this cozy place. I say if you like the feel of a café with a full blown kitchen, this is the place for you. Now if you hate finding parking in small towns this is not the place for you because me an my boyfriend parked across the street in front of the church and prayed that we didn't take the pastors front park (inserts screwed face here). lucky we did not and it was an open spot in a highly populated area on a Sunday. First when we walked in we were greeted with a non smiling employee, but it was understandable because the place was completely packed with standing room only... Our wait time was about 10 minutes because we were a party of two. Now the real wait was waiting for the food. While we waited on the food we were offered drinks which we ordered a hot chocolate. I'm sad to say it was watered but it was good non the less. 27 minutes later our food came and everything was hot fresh and good. The Pancakes were fluffy and the skillet had so much flavor. I recommend getting the Nutella pancakes, it looked so delicious. Also, if you are a light eater the plates are good enough to feed 2 people. My brother recommended this place and I won't be coming back. We were looking forward to great breakfast food at a fairly new spot in the area. It was only my husband and I. He ordered the steak skillet which was not worth the $16 - steak was not fully cooked and had zero flavor. I ordered the French toast combo which comes with eggs, hash browns, meat and the half order of French toast. I added the very berry mix to it and how can someone fuck up French toast? They literally just LIGHTLY toasted the challah bread, threw berries and strawberries on tip with drizzled vanilla and strawberry jam/syrup. What I got upset about was the fact that my utensils that were already on the table when we sat down were dirty- the dishwasher did not do a good job. My fork had dried egg spots. I told the waitress and she took them behind the bar, picked up the fork and looked it and then tried scrubbing it off. She then noticed I was looking at her and got a new silverware set for me. The hostess/waitress proceeded to walk us to a booth but we asked if we can have the one in the back. Instead of her walking us to that one, she handed us the menu... After searching for a good restaurant in Chicago to take my cousin for his 50th birthday breakfast, I ran across this restaurant. Let me just tell you how excited I was to take him for breakfast! We had to wait about 20 mins for our table, but it was as more than worth it! Once seated, our waitress was very attentive and shared what her favorite dishes were. I had my mind set for pancakes UNTIL plates of food were delivered to neighboring tables. I was sharing with my cousin the video review I had watched and how the man took a bite of the corn beef hash and his face lit up in pure delight! Needless to say, I ordered the corn beef hash skillet (even though I didn't think I'd ever eaten it before in life! Lol) My cousin ordered the Butcher skillet with added green peppers and spinach. One word, well maybe a few to describe our meals. 1. Delicious 2. Plentiful 3. Pipping hot 4. Did I already say delicious? The portions were so huge that I packed mine up and brought it home to Maryland! I had so much that I ate it for two mornings!!!! Food was really good. I had the classic eggs Benedict. The hollandaise was very good. The ham was thick and cut off the bone. Eggs were a lot overcooked. My wife had the Opaa! Greek omelette. She didn't yell Opaa! But she enjoyed it. The coffee was very good and the mug was Nice and heavy. The wait in the line is very awkward. Nowhere really to stand. You're either blocking the door or blocking the cash stand or you've got your butt against someone sitting in the tables right there. The service was just ok due in part to the hostess. On the surface it looked like everyone got up to leave at the same time. The hostess was not spacing the seating and not rotating between servers. This meant the servers got the beverages at the same time, the food was ready at the same time and you guessed it.. everybody waited at the same time only to be repeated all day long. The feels: The best part of my experience were the people. Cheryl, you're awesome, friendly and engaging. The woman at the front, sorry I did t get her name, seemed genuinely happy to see me and was friendly and inviting. Because of my experience with the staff I would definitely visit again. The food: I ordered the Corned Beef Skillet. It was fine, nothing special, a few of the diced potatoes were raw, but easy to pick out of the plate. The chunks of corned beef were DELICIOUS! Next time I'll order the toast instead of the pancakes. Based off the other reviews I think the kitchen was having an off day. My wife and I stopped in with our two kids on our way back from Michigan to Nebraska. It was so hard to find a place open for breakfast. We were in a real...jam...but Bacon and Jam saved us! Their customer service was outstanding! I also love how they waitlist, using our phone number, and being able so see where we were on the list/size of each party before us. With two young kids, it actually puts me at ease instead of feeling like I have to rush in to see if we "missed" our spot. Last note - the food is definitely diner food so don't expect gourmet. What a great little neighborhood spot! The remodel is gorgeously designed and even the plates and mugs are well-chosen. The thing I am most excited about is that they have Metropolis coffee and Rishi tea-- what is this, the north side? Awesome! I can't believe I can get such good diner coffee in the area. As for food, their cup of cream of chicken rice soup that comes as one of the options with a sandwich was absolutely perfect on flavor and a nice portion. I got the corned beef sandwich, which is what I remember the previous establishment being known for, and man it was tasty. I could only eat half because again the portion was plentiful. My mom got a salad to start which was huge, and then a chicken parmesan sandwich she couldn't even eat half of either. The one bite I had of that was great too. Minus one star for friendliness/ warmth of service, but it's a diner so I honestly don't care... but some people might. Might have been a fluke, so I'll update to 5 stars if it's fine for the next few visits. So far I've only had lunch, but I can't wait to try their breakfast. We walked into this establishment hanging on to our dear life by a thread. The two most hungover individuals you can ever begin to imagine walked in to this restaurant and were greeted by the most beautiful smiles from the hostess and manager/owner (I think). They greeted us with a great compliment and sat us down very quickly. Before we even sat down we had water ready to be chugged. The waitress greeted us just as warmly and quickly as the individuals up front and we had our order in very quickly and efficiently thanks to her. Before we even had a chance to repent for our actions from the prior night, two large portions of what felt like God's personal care package of grace in food form was plopped down in front of us.
