I came here before for the donuts which were pretty good. This time I tried the pork empanada, jalapeño and cheese, and ensaymada. The pork empanada meat and crust were good but could have been more flavorful. I did enjoy the jalapeño and cheese. The ensaymada pastry was on the dry side and the butter cream was a bit excessive. This shop has great donuts that are always fresh, but the customer service could use improvement. There's almost always only one person working the register, even with 10 or more customers waiting inside. I waited over 15 minutes for a donut. That's clearly not good for business. On our way home from Tahoe, we stopped to use the restroom at Starbucks. A few doors down we saw Bad Bakers and checked it out. I am so glad we did. The donuts were good and they had a ton of fun options. They have a savory section and I got a Jalapeño Cream Cheese roll and a pork Empanada. My goodness, these where two of the best bites I had on my vacation. The service was fantastic. I only saw one worker there and she was great giving out suggestions. I came in just thinking it was a bakery not knowing it was a specific kind of bakery, the offerings were new to me, i got a sample of an ube staxx and was addicted, have been here 4 times just to buy the staxx....i must admit to not trying anything else except the empanadas!!!! I LOVE the ube and regular staxx and the empanadas are my son's favorite thing! I had ube ice cream in the past and was used to the sweet purple flavor which i love!!!! but in the bread it really shines!!!! I also got some small slider buns which we used to make sandwiches and garlic bread and they are excellent , too I consider this like a Japanese milk bread and would be fabulous for pulled pork, too! but the STAXX are my jam.....I buy them 15 to a box at a time, breakfast lunch or late night snack, in a hotel or home all good!!!! Really good texture of the dough, really good flavor all around. Super kind person at the cash register too! My friends liked their non-vegan donuts too! I love the staxx, I've only been there twice and if I'm ever in the area I would stop there and just order a bunch to go. My mom likes having them with coffee in the morning. I've only tried a few items from them but go back for the staxx. Our last visit we were able to get the ube staxx which they only have on the weekends. Both are good but I do prefer the original. The hamburger lumpia is also very delicious. It's a small donut shop, no sitting area so it's more of a grab and go spot. The service the first time was very friendly and helpful. The second time we had someone that didn't seem too knowledgeable on the items. We asked for a dipping sauce for the lumpia and he said there wasn't any and he didn't realize there was any sauce for it, but we were given a dipping sauce the first time. I'm not sure if it was his first day but he seemed a little lost. They do also offer samples of the staxx if you ask, they are best when eaten fresh. I wish they were closer to me, I'm craving them now haha read more

When I found out about this place, I was so egger and excited to try it! Unfortunately, based on what I tried, my expectations fell short. I arrived in a hurry since it was about 12 min from closing... Which also means all the flavors I wanted to try was sold out. Let's start with the positive. The store was well kept and pretty clean. Parking wasn't too bad considering it's a shared parking lot in a small complex. ( Across the Chevron gas station and on the same strip as Starbucks and Crumble). The staff was friendly and was knowledgeable about the baked goods. As much as I REALLY tried to like it, my review has to come from my honest experience. 1. Strawberry cheesecake donut ( I think that's what it's called but it's the pink and white one attached to my review): I sliced a small piece and as soon as I started chewing, I can tell that it was left in the oil for a long time. Or was oily and left an unpleasant taste. The toppings by itself was pretty good but eating it with a donut messed up the entire flavor. 1a. I chose to get the cookies and cream filling syringe, and the flavors were spot on. Taste more like icing. 2. Fruity pebble donut: The donut itself was actually pretty good.. it was moist in the inside and crunchy on the outside Just as expected from an old fashioned doughnut. The fruity Pebble flavor came through from the top, but wished it was more incorporated. 3. Ube filled bread: growing up in the Philippines, Ube became one of my favorite flavors. With that said, I'm very familiar with what authentic Ube taste like. The bread itself was perfect! It was soft inside and had a nice glaze on top. The "Ube" cream inside was well distributed in each roll (see picture) BUT it taste NOTHING close to what Ube is supposed to taste like. I'm not sure if the filing got mixed up with something else, but the purple filling tasted so floral that any hint of Ube flavor was gone! 4. Guava and Cream filled bread: The bread was well made. When I pulled the bread apart, I instantly smelled the sweet flavor of guava! As I bit into it, this bread filled Guava and Cream did not disappoint at all! The flavors were so vibrant! Definitely something I'd get again!! Overall, I am still not completely sure about this place, but will give it another shot to try the other items on the menu. read more

Very clean looking donut shop. I love how neat the display looked And it was nicely spread out. They had a great selection of donuts and I was pleasantly surprised they had an assortment of dessert breads and flan. For the donuts: As far as the taste, the donuts were just ok given the price of each donut. Although the toppings made the donuts so Instagram worthy to take a picture of, the taste really wasn't all that special and honestly tasted like a basic donut just more colorful. Kinda like Safeway or winco .. but... They got creative with giving Filling injections which is a cute touch. The bread was delicious - I would probably only come back for the guava bread. Literally just A-ok. I was excited when I heard Folsom was getting another bakery. I was familiar with Bad Bakers. Pros: They carry Filipino dessert, breads, and lumpia. So that already makes this place stand out in the city. Nice layout, clean bakery, attractive donut designs. Cons: I know this place is new, but the wait time was very slow when I went in. There was only one staff member and although she was very sweet and friendly, she would disappear to the back to get what I assumed were the senorita bread that most people ordered, and then proceed to ring customers up. A large family had gone in after me and they left the bakery entirely after almost 10 min of waiting with no movement of the line. Taste: I ordered a maple cake donut. It was just ok for me. Not something I'd likely order again. Very plain and nothing that got me excited. I also ordered the guava cream cheese bread. These were just ok as well. I don't think I'd order them again either. But for guava fans, it's the only guava bread with cream cheese I think you can find in the city. My last order was a cream cheese filled donut roll. It was also again very "ok." I don't think I'd order it again either to be honest. I'll continue to try other items on their menu. And hopefully something stands out down the road. read more

We have loved Bad Bakers since they opened a few years ago. The sticks are our go-to. We don't even use the injection fillings (they are good- but not needed) The crazy doughnuts are a bit excessive- and messy for our kids .... Not sure if Bad Bakers is like the only donut shop on DoorDash or what, cus for some reason people always send me donuts from this place. At first I was bummed, but when I opened the box I could tell the donuts were fresh, so then I became optimistic. Maybe someone from the franchise conducted a quality control assessment or something, because these donuts were surprisingly pretty good. Not da bomb or anything, but they were really tasty! I believe what I had was the ube donut with a caramelized top and ube filling, and it was really yummy! The mochi donuts were pretty good as well, and even the señorita bread was WAY better! I could tell this time the oil used was clean, which makes a huge difference in the taste. The texture was better, soft and fluffy, but not too chewy. The only one I didn't care for was the cruller, which is usually my daughter's favorite kind of donut, but theirs are not as light and airy as some of the other places. I just went there and got a selection of items. We shared them so everyone could try a little of everything. I got the Staxx (or senorita bread) with mango filling, and it was outstanding. It was one of the most delightful treats I have ever had. The mango filling was smooth, and really flavorful, and the bread was fluffy and yummy. I got some of the mochi donuts, and they were pretty good. I have never had mochi donuts before. They are a little more chewy than regular donuts, so I think I prefer regular donuts, but I enjoyed their toppings. I found the cronuts to be a little dry and to have too many toppings, so I don't think I would order those again. Everything was falling off as I bit into it.
