Like many, I have followed Ash on social media so I made it a point to visit her storefront during my recent trip to Cali. I went around 12pm on a Wednesday afternoon and found street parking easily. Once inside, it wasn't clear to me that I had to order the cash register but after standing behind the glass waiting to be acknowledged, I was told where to go. I opted for a brown butter toffee cookie, red velvet slice, lemon loaf, brownie, and cinnamon roll. I have not tried the brownie yet so I'll circle back if it wows me. The lemon loaf was my least favorite. There's an odd flavor that's maybe lemon zest but more like the concept of lemon zest. The icing was great but the loaf itself was pretty inedible. The red velvet slice was also oddly disappointing. It was a little better when I warmed it in the microwave but it's nothing I would order again. I'm sure by now you've seen this place all over social media and it absolutely lives up to the hype. The pastries are stunning, perfectly balanced, and most importantly, not too sweet. So many LA bakeries go overboard with sugar, but here I actually wanted to finish every bite. I got three items and loved them all. The cinnamon roll is an absolute must. We had an hour-long drive home and it was still soft and moist when we got back. The roll itself was fluffy, melted in your mouth, and had just the right amount of sweetness from the cinnamon sugar and icing. The pumpkin loaf is seasonal and it was perfect. I love anything pumpkin and adding cream cheese just made it even better. This loaf felt so much lighter compared to other pumpkin breads I've tried. I can't wait to warm up the leftovers and have them with some yogurt. It was not overly spiced and had the perfect cream cheese to loaf ratio. The cornbread cookie was such a fun surprise. The lines have finally died down and you can actually get something without an hour-long wait. You've seen the pictures of the inside, so I won't waste time on descriptions. The vibe was very neighborhoody and friendly. Per their recommendation, I got the banana pudding. We pre-ordered cinnamon rolls over the phone for pick-up the following day and the process was really easy. Pick up at 8am was easy as well. Even when the store has a line out the door and is full of people, the staff are polite and make the pick up easy. The classic and matcha cinnamon rolls are easily the best I've had in LA. I live in Pasadena and have passed this place on Colorado a couple times and the line is just long! Outside on the sidewalk folks are lined up. I didn't know it was this bakery until i seen one day so i made a point to try. Then i found out it's black owned so i really wanted to try. me and my sister both wanted to try so we went close to closing and we didn't feel rushed or uncomfortable. We ordered half a dozen cookies (matcha- i really enjoyed, oatmeal raisin, 2 toffee choco chip, smores and double chocolate), 1 cinnamon roll, 1 matcha cinnamon roll and 1 matcha latte. The breading in the cinnamon rolls was good but I'm personally not a fan cream cheese frosting but if you do you will like the cinnamon rolls. The matcha cookie was so yummy. I was very excited to come here but wanted to wait until the lines died down. So, we came early on a Wednesday morning and were practically the only people there. I got to see the full selection of pastries on display and wanted one of everything, but restrained myself and stuck to cinammon rolls and cookies. The cinammon rolls were 10/10. You can just tell the owner used quality ingredients to make them. Out of the original and matcha flavors I was surprised I liked the matcha one better. The cookies were good too. All of them had the same bite to them which I enjoyed. Soft and a little chewy. Finally made it to this spot after seeing all the photos shared on IG. No line when I went and got a front parking space. I ordered the toffee chocolate chip cookie, white macadamia cookie, banana bread, and cinnamon roll. I enjoyed the cookies with milk, excuse me inhaled them! Delicious and chewy. The cinnamon roll is soft and has the right amount of sweetness. Definitely the perfect amount of frosting. I really like that it's not drenched in frosting. Also, it's not dry in any way. I've tried to visit BadAsh Bakes Bakery recently during the weekdays around noon... two times they were closed even though the hours on Google said they should be open. But 3rd time visiting was the charm! I waited for about 30 minutes in line. The inside decor was very nice and modern looking. I loved walking into the store and smelling all the sweetness. Parking may be a little difficult to find. You might find some metered parking spots around the block, but it's hard to gauge how long the line will take. Luckily I work close by so that's why I was able to visit during my lunch break. You have to get the cinnamon roll, it's was so delicious. Soft, rich, perfectly sweet--I could not stop eating it. The chocolate chip cookies were okay. Thin and crunchy on the outside, but as you go toward the middle, it gets gooey and chewy. So glad I finally got to try this spot! The staff was attentive but I think they need a better ordering system as it is VERY small in there and trying to form two separate ordering lines, a waiting area and a pick up area in that small of a space is tooooo much. We ordered cornbread cookie (skip), lemon loaf (skip), choc chip cookie (yes), regular cinnamon roll (yes) and matcha cinnamon roll (50/50), london fog latte (yes) strawberry matcha (skip and get regular). We ordered a strawberry matcha, cinnamon roll latte, matcha cinnamon roll, matcha cookie, cornbread cookie and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookies are so soft, even a day or so later. A friend and I made the hour plus trip out to Badash Bakes after seeing all the hype. There was a big selection of different cookies & pastries and the service was fast. The shop is really cute, but I wouldn't say that anything else was amazing. The cookies and cinnamon roll we got were good, but I've definitely had better. The matcha I got was small and really expensive, and the flavor wasn't great. I would definitely skip the drinks. The service was OK. The line was pretty long for an early morning on Friday but the service was quick and we got all our food and drinks without too much of a wait. Matcha Cinnamon Roll - Just OK, it was underbaked for me. The matcha taste didn't really come out either. Regular Cinnamon Roll - This one had better consistency than the matcha one. Once outside, I noticed an item was missing so I went back inside. The team corrected the issue quickly and without questioning me, which I appreciated. However, I was told that the reason the order was incomplete was because I arrived "too fast" before the last item was packed up. Since I actually arrived AFTER my scheduled pick-up time, I think this is more of a process issue than timing. A few learning opportunities: - Ensure that fully packed orders are placed in the designated pick-up area - If an order isn't the designated pick-up area and somewhere else, double check its status before handing out (this is what happened to me; I saw that my order bag was in the drinks station) - Avoid shifting blame and suggesting the customer was "too early" and that's the reason why the order went out incomplete.
