Breakfast Sandwich: Potato bun has great pillowy texture (I wish it was a little larger), the sausage patty is sweet and garlicky with crispy edges (kinda cooked like a smash burger), steamed egg with melted American cheese, crisp hashbrown well seasoned, and a slightly spicy sauce. A random little stop in Arts District that turned into the discovery of the most delicious, "not too sweet" donut! I tried the roasted corn donut and it was superb. I'm not the biggest donut fan as I find them excessively sweet but wow, this donut is truly not too sweet and the corn flavor shines through. The cream and the donut itself were also very fluffy and light! It's a dessert that's sure to please your tummy. Unfortunately, the strawberry matcha latte felt like the opposite. The strawberry syrup reminded me of the syrup you get on top of funnel cakes...wayy too sweet and artificial strawberry tasting for my tongue. The matcha itself tasted good when I pulled my straw a bit higher so maybe their lattes without strawberry are better. Jalepeno cheese scone was really good. It may look a bit underwhelming but it's packed with flavor and acts as a nice savory pairing. Service was honestly "whatever", the cashier didn't seem friendly but also not rude either. I think if I'm at a cafe with these prices and a vibrant theme, the service should also be on par and reflect that, but maybe they were having a bad day. If I could give this place a 10 star review, I would. Truly it all came down to Sean who really took the time to explain each item we asked about on the menu. Came to this location for a mid day pick me up. I was definitely too late to get any pastries which I really do want to circle back and try. I tried the knotted cream top, as a coffee lover... Having been to Santa Monica outlet couple times and aware that they recent expanded into Arts District, with much cuter space. Handful of parking space available around, which was certainly a PLUS PLUS knowing how tough this area was. They still carried their signature doughnuts and cookies, but further increasing the options with basque cheesecake and butter tteok, yep that hype thing you might have seen thousand times on your screen. I was tad in a rush so I could just stop by for a drink. Also kind of a bummer that it's relatively slow to get the drink ready despite it's not like busy busy. I got their crowd's favorite Banana Cream Latte, coming with banana milk base, my choice of milk (picking almond), espresso shot, and banana cream top. Café Knotted in the arts District is a must go to. I know it's really hard to pick a Matcha/coffee location, knowing that the market is very oversaturated now. However, café knotted has perfected their art. I swung by and landed on the Ube Matcha, double Matcha and Chestnut tiramisu latte. It was fun to watch the barista, create each beverage with such skill and attention to detail. Not only is café. Knotted interior design, beautiful but so are all their crafted beverages. I've been to Cafe Knotted at Century City and was honestly not hyped up to try this other location. However, the DTLA Arts District Cafe Knotted is AMAZING. The staff is fabulous, the shop itself is fabulous and the eats & drinks are fabulous. Starting with the drinks, most recently I had the Duo Matcha and the Cold Brew Cloud - both currently exclusive to the DTLA spot. Absolutely loved both the drinks. If you know their donuts, then you know that's a hot item for everyone and they come in pretty dope flavors. I love their donuts but my bigger indulgences here are the other baked goods so I'm going to focus in on them. But if you areeeee getting a donut, Roasted Sweet Corn is my personal favorite. Now their Breakfast Sandwich ($12.50) is only served at the DTLA location and only until 1 or 2pm each day. It's a hot new item & AMAZING. It has their own spiced breakfast sausage made of pork & beef, an incredibly fluffy soufflé egg patty, cheese, hashbrown, pepperoncini, and gochujang aioli as ingredients and it is so fire. Also only served at this location are the limited Dubai Chewy Cookies ($7 or 2 for $12) and the Butter Rice Cakes (5 for $7.50). Both are viral hot items right now and can confirm both are excellent here. All their cookies are delicious & served at both LA locations, but some of the other baked goods they only sell in Arts District are the scones, matcha basque & regular basque cheesecake, and then my personal favorite - the Honey Garlic Bun. You must get the Honey Garlic Bun and be sure to say YES when they ask if you want it warmed up. It is so gooey and soft with the absolute best flavor. Cafe Knotted serves a cream filled donut that looks beautiful but are a bit of a let down. After dinner in the Arts District, I was surprised to see that Cafe Knotted had opened another spot! My previous experience was the pre-packaged version which I bought at the store. I reasoned that I did not like it because it was not fresh. Unfortunately, when I bought it fresh at this store, I was a bit let down again. Fresh Strawberry Milk Cream (3/5): The donut felt a bit chewy and the cream while the best part was not too special. Yes, it did read as not too sweet! But I wish it did not have the same level of fluffiness that I expect from like a maritozzo. The service though was great! The person at the counter did a good job of talking about recommendations for treats and drinks. Like other businesses at the Arts District, you may get lucky and score some nearby street parking. And this is why I doom scroll on Instagram. Otherwise, I would never have heard of this super good bakery and their delicious egg sandwich. Only available at the one in the Arts District for some reason (they have a second location in Westfield Century City), the sandwich is, as the menu says, a "House-made spiced breakfast sausage (pork & beef), soufflé egg patty, cheese, hashbrown, pepperoncini, gochujang aioli." It is a bit of a mess (blame the cheese) but it's also super tasty. Doubly so when you pour on a little of the gochujang aioli. The eggs are light and fluffy, the hashbrown is nice and crispy, and the roll it comes on is soft and squishy like a burger bun. Oh, and the sausage is also crispy and flavorful, but is thin. It's not like a Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage. I also got an ice latte, which was a bit more on the milky side than I usually like. As for the bakery part of this Korean bakery, I picked up two donuts that I ate later: the chocolate and the tiramisu. Both of which were super good, though I liked the tiramisu slightly more. Also, they're round, not circular, so they're more like big donut holes than donuts, if donut holes had pudding inside. That said, they're decidedly more donut-y than the bombalinis at Republique or the cream puffs at Beard Papa. As for the place itself, it was clean, the staff were very friendly, and the food came out quickly but not so quickly that it made me suspicious. The thing is, the place is also small, and has only a handful of seats inside, and one small table outside. They also have really small napkins, which is an issue if you get the egg sandwich because, if you do, you'll get cheese on your hands. It's located in the Arts District, so parking in a pain in the ass. Though having said that, I did go at 11AM on a Friday, and found metered parking, and use to go there around noon on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and always found a spot. And worst case scenario: there's paid parking lots nearby. Whatever. It's totally worth it for that sandwich and those donuts. read more

Went to little Tokyo this past Saturday (05/23), and since this location is just a few minutes walking distance from little Tokyo itself, decided why not just go and try it. Place is super cute, on the smaller size, so it can get cramped quick. Ordered 2 of their roasted sweet corn donut, and a tiramisu one, the matcha basque cheesecake and one blueberry matcha. Everything came out yo a little over $39. Here is what I thought about everything: Roasted sweet corn and tiramisu donut- 9/10. These were delicious. They had the perfect amount of cream and sweetest and were soft and though expensive for $5.25 and $4.75 each, they were definitely worth it. Matcha basque cheesecake- 0/10 This was honestly awful. It did not taste like matcha at all, and the center was not creamy either, just very dry. Just skip it. Blueberry matcha- 1/10 Again, you could not taste the matcha whatsoever, only the blueberry syrup, which it was great, but I'm sure it would have complemented the earthy flavor of the matcha really well if you could actually taste it. Probably best to try some of their other drinks. Definitely will go back to try their other donuts. Are they pricy? Yes, but I honestly believe they are worth it. read more

I've been wanting to go to Cafe Knotted and was finally in the area on a Thursday. I found street parking, but I'm sure it would be much more difficult on a weekend. They had a nice array of pastries and drinks. I got 3 of their donuts, the Dubai chocolate, banana pudding and sweet corn. I got the duo matcha to drink. We particularly liked the sweet corn and the Dubai chocolate. The banana pudding was good too, but not as good when eating the sweet corn at the same time. We saved the Dubai chocolate donut for the next day and it held fine. The matcha drink was tasty, Service was very welcoming. One of the owners took my order and let me know what new items they were planning. The cafe is cute and there were several tables of groups doing taste tests of the different flavors. Cafe Knotted has a phenomenal chicken caesar wrap! They absolutely nailed the texture I craved and it was incredibly satisfying. I received my order relatively quickly, it felt fresh and I feel everything was priced fairly. No complaints on the food. The interior was really clean and everything looked super yummy. A couple of things I noticed: I found the menu items availability rather limited, I wish they were served past 1pm. Seems a little early to close the kitchen considering they're open until 8pm. Dropped in on a whim with ~7 people and took up two of the four ish tables available for seating. The interior is cute and charming with a simple aesthetic.
