    Crispy yogurt puffs
    Mona A.

BADMAASH Venice is SOO GOOD. Finally open to the public They'd been running this space as delivery for a while, but it opened March 27, so I had to check it out Service stands out immediately. The waiters are so warm and attentive. Plus the ambiance is very vibey. It's a dim, intimate restaurant. Oldies playing. They even played "Gole Yakh" and my heart melted I got the crispy yogurt puffs, chicken tikka poutine, lamb neck korma, Goan pork curry. It was all so perfect, I'm excited to try more of their dishes next time apparently everything is good and you can't go wrong. Yogurt puffs- super crispy with really yummy and bright chutney Poutine- fries stayed crispy and the chicken was stunning Lamb neck korma- my favorite. Very tender, falls apart. Rosemary naan + that roasted cashew/hazelnut sauce was delicious Goan pork curry- my new favorite comfort food Order naan. The saucier dishes need it. The chili cheese naan was basically an Indian quesadilla and it comes with raita. Happy they finally opened this one in Venice. I'm literally already planning my next visit.

I went here with 2 friends for an early weekday dinner at 530. We made a reservation online a few weeks prior. We were seated inside right at our reservation time. We ordered the chili cheese naan, mushrooms, eggplant dish, chicken tikka poutine, short rib and coconut curry mussels. My favorite of them all were the chicken tikka poutine (partly because I love poutine), the naan and the mussels. I thought the short rib was average and probably can get better somewhere else. The mushroom was really tasty and the eggplant was good but not what I expected based on the description. All our dishes together was about $200 including tax and tip. Would definitely want to come again to try some of the other dishes. It's located right on Abbott Kinney, found street parking though can be tough during certain times.

Very friendly Staff, nice ambience, the butter and tikki chicken were very good! The Punjabi fish fry was . The only thing holding the 5th star back were the wings and drinks. Wings were flavorful but I requested the skin be extra crispy and they looked the part but were still wet. No matter still One of my favorite Indian Restaurants.

I love Badmaash! First time at the Venice location, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The vibe is completely different from the Fairfax one, but in the best way. We genuinely enjoyed every single item we ordered. My favorite was the steak frites -- luckily, we got the last order! It was incredibly juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The cocktails were also amazing: super refreshing and perfect for a summer vibe. And the service deserves a special mention. Unfortunately, I don't remember our server's name, but he went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible. Can't wait to come back again and again!

Honestly, this might've actually been the worst Indian food I've ever had. Pretty much everything was under-seasoned and mediocre at best. I've heard such good things so this was so disappointing:,) The chicken tikka tasted like tomato soup and was sweet?? The goat kebab was soooo tiny!! I was shocked when it came out, it looked like something off the childrens menu. It had good flavor for the kebab itself but the sauce it came in did nothing to enhance it, The short rib was SOO tender, it was perfectly cooked. But there was no flavor at all, just tasted like meat lol. Also warning - they don't let you ajust spice level and it comes with negative spice. Also every dish was borderline room temperature, not hot at all. Overall would not recommend and it's very $$ for the amount of food you get. Service was good and vibes in there were sooo perfect for a date night!

Oyster mushrooms & black lentil daal

Loved the pure Venice-cool vibe--think hip-hop soundtracks, a flashy orange marquee, and high energy buzz throughout the room (probably in part because of how hard it is to nab a rez). Some of our favorites were their crispy yogurt puri cup starter (MUST GET!), their signature Chicken Tikka Poutine, the lamb neck korma, and the oyster mushroom laal. Thought the chicken tikka, black lentil daal, and the mussels fell a little flat...they all could have used a bit more seasoning/spice. Save room for the chai chocolate pot du creme for dessert...SOOO good! Fia was our server and she CRUSHED IT! So good with recommendations and checking in.

I had the pleasure of trying their curry mussels. I was suggested this place and those mussels by luke, I was then served by Manny who suggested I pair them with the rosemary Naan. Very incredible quality and flavor. While I am bummed my go to Italian spot Piccolo is gone this is a great new addition to Abbot Kinney.

I took my in laws here for my graduation dinner and it did not disappoint. We have a really high bar for high end Indian food. We got: Onion bhajia- I will dream about this. It was the perfect crispness and flavor. 10/10 Butter chicken samosa- I liked it but it only came as 1 samosa and idk with butter chicken I expect more sauciness in the filling. 8/10 Lamb chop laal Maas - my in laws love lamb and it hit their standards 10/10 Chicken tikka poutine - this is my favorite at all the badmaash's. I could eat this everyday 10/10 Fish moilee - idk why I order this all the time but get disappointed. It needs curry leaves and more savor. 7/10. Steak frites - this was the star and we all loved it. 10/10. The sauce was fantastic and served tableside. Rice pudding - they heard it was my husbands bday so they gave us this on the house, but I should have ordered it. This and the kulfi were my favorite desserts. They toast coconut on top and it makes all the difference 10/10 Parle G ice cream - my in laws liked this but I didn't get the appeal. I feel like it was a little lazy for an expensive dessert. They're better off making a cake or tiramisu style dessert with it. This is my review so it's getting a 6/10 Pista Kulfi - my favorite other than the rice pudding. It felt homemade but also elevated bc I could tell they toasted all the pistachios before making it. Also it wasn't too sweet. 10/10 I also ordered an Arnold Palmer which was perfect with this meal. Overall great experience and our server was nice (and funny).

Such a fun vibe here! The ambiance is dark and moody, the music is a little loud but not impossible to hear conversation. This was our first time here and we got the fried fish bites which had an amazing gluten free chickpea batter that was seasoned incredibly and served with a paprika aioli and mango chutney. We then got butter chicken and the yellow lentils. The yellow lentils were fine, but when compared the complexity and flavor of the butter chicken it didn't really stand a chance. The butter chicken was incredible, I could probably drink the sauce it was so good. Yellow Lentils are a very neutral flavor and almost had more of a simple soup vibe, we'll probably try something else instead next time. Wait staff was friendly and didn't feel overbearing. Can't wait to come back!

I think this is the best Badmaash experience I've had so far. Food was super flavorful and service was great, even though it took a while to get seated. The butter chicken samosa, butter chicken (double butter chicken because why not), and naan all hit the spot. But the chicken tikka poutine remains my favorite! Also, what a great location!

At Badmaash Venice, the vibe and aromas pull you in before the first plate even lands. You walk in expecting a cool Venice dinner spot and leave realizing this place is operating on an entirely different frequency. The menu is fearless in the most intentional way possible. Traditional Indian dishes sit next to steak frites, masala fries, marrow curry, and a crispy okra & potato situation that deserves its own homage. Somehow none of it feels random. Every dish feels like it belongs exactly where it is. This isn't precious, overly polished Indian food made to play safe for the neighborhood crowd. The flavors are loud, rich, spicy, smoky and deeply satisfying. The butter chicken tastes like comfort with better instincts. The chutney actually has heat. Even the naan arrives like it knows it's part of the experience. And then there's the energy. Great music, low lighting, cocktails flowing, tables leaning into conversations a little longer than planned. It feels cool without begging you to notice. The kind of place where dinner accidentally becomes the whole night. The result is a restaurant with swagger, soul, and the rare ability to remind you why dining out, at its best, can still feel transportive.

Was surprised and delighted to see that we could order Badmaash on the Westside through DoorDash! Apparently they have a location on Abbot Kinney in Venice that isn't open for regular business yet but is accepting delivery and pickup orders on DoorDash. We got the butter chicken, fish fry, saag paneer, samosas, naan, and mango lassi. Of course everything was delicious, and the flavors were very pronounced. Food arrived still hot. Excited to try more things!

Chicken Tikka, Short Rib, Naan, Rice

Dined at Badmaash on Abbot Kinney last night. Everything was excellent from the service to the food to the ambiance. We ordered the butter chicken samosa, chicken tikka, the short rib, rice, and garlic naan. All were excellent and flavorful we cleaned the plates. Our server Christopher also went above and beyond. He let us sample a few wines before choosing a bottle and was very attentive. Super fun to chat to as well.

I might say this is some of the best Indian food I've had in a very long time. Let's just go down the line: 1) Garlic Naan -- tasty and had a nice char in certain areas. Not as soft and buttery (which I was expecting) compared to other naans but it was still very good. Will order again. 2) Fisk Pakora - fresh and fried very well. Coating was still crisp in some areas and fish was flaky and tender. Pairs well with the chutneys. 3) Saag paneer - creamy paneer, delicious fresh spinach with yummy spices. I really enjoyed that. 4) Pickle Stand (assortment of chutneys) - tasted fresh and homemade. Sooooo delicious -- had tamarind, lime, mint, and another sauce I can't identify at the moment. But yummy! 5) Lamb Kahrahi - this was my first time having this dish ever. Omg! The smokiness of the lamb which I guess is from the tandoor plus the sauce with tomatoes, garlic and ginger -- which you could taste -- was soooooo good!! Ima hafta add that to my rotation. The lamb was tender too. All around excellent dish. 6) half order of basmati rice. Just the right amount and a delicious base for the saag and lamb. The portions were great too. I couldn't have asked for a better meal via a delivery service. The driver was nice too. I can't wait to go there and dine in! I highly recommend!!

Food itself was good and tasty, portion size was a little underwhelming for the price we paid. Our garlic naan was not very garlicky & was more than just slightly charred. My overall experience today was just ok, average. 3.9 stars from me.

I came here for a birthday brunch with some friends and our experience here was great. To share, we had the following dishes: -Curry Puffs: Crispy and yummy. It was like a savory fried donut. I also liked the pickled onions and tamarind ketchup it came with as well. Kind of pricey for $7 a puff though. -Cobi's Fried Chicken: Solid fried chicken. The meat was moist and I also enjoyed the crispy and crunchy fried chicken. The tangy and sweet flavor was yummy. -Chicken Satay: Moist chicken covered in a creamy and flavorful sauce. Delicious! -Nasi Goreng: Pretty standard and tasty. It paired well with the other dishes. While I would've preferred all the dishes to be spicier, everything was still pretty good! The prices are also good considering the area and this being a nicer restaurant. I also really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It was super cute and the atmosphere was pretty. The service was attentive. A downside is that I made the reservation for my birthday and I saw another table receive a complimentary birthday dessert while mine didn't :( I recommend making a reservation in advance online via Resy which is what I did. For parking, there's garage parking you can pay for as well as metered street parking. No validation unfortunately :/ Overall a great experience here and I would add this spot to my rotation.

If you are coming to Cobi's for the most mind blowing bites, I kindly suggest looking elsewhere. Diving right in, the ora king salmon is nothing to write home about and could be made at home so that was a pass. The curry puffs were the highlight of the night! Two samosas that came hot with lovely tamarind ketchup and pickled onion to cut the heaviness. While I pleasantly enjoyed this, I am reminded that many and I do mean many indian restaurants serve this at a lower price with the same delivery of flavor. Moving forward for the mains: the beef rendang, butter chicken, and nasi goreng (pork belly added for +8$ whew) were just...lacking in flavor. At first I had thought we ordered all the wrong things but recalled the waiter quite joyously telling me that these were all the favorites. The beef rendang was pre-shredded which was a different take. Even pre-shredded could not hide how dry it was. Even with the sambal and gulai on the side. The addition of gulai was perplexing as well but nonetheless it did not really add anything to the dish as a whole. The butter chicken had nothing on the numerous indian restaurants I have the pleasure of eating at as well. The nasi goreng was oily and the pork belly chunks were so fatty and hard it was just unpleasant to eat overall. Overall, everything was just lacking and fell flat. The presentation was lovely but in terms of flavor it was a miss for me. I'd like to believe it was just an off day and would love to venture in once again to retaste but being on the michelin guide for four years consecutively makes me wonder. Service was lovely and we were checked up upon many times. The interior is very rustic and feels like home. For those that are nosy (like me) the tables are quite close together so be ready to hear other conversations hehe. There is no dedicated parking and it is santa monica so you can either park on the street or find a structure and walk! I must admit I had quite high expectations, especially for this type of cuisine. I was left wanting much more and thinking of other places that do every dish I had better and for cheaper. Final Verdict: A pass for me!
