Wow.. I understand the hype. We went to Momo Souls on a Sunday around 5:45 pm (15 after opening) and they were already full of customers inside. We ordered the butter chicken momos (must try!), chaat momos, Manchurian momos and Szechuan momos - all listed in order of what we liked best to least. The Szechuan had a little toooo much flavor for our liking so we'd likely swap that out for something lighter next time. We also tried the ice cream which was delicious!! First time trying Nepalese food and I'm so glad I did! My friend has been talking about this place nonstop for months and I finally decided to check it out. We ordered the classic butter masala momos and samosas. The samosas were some of the best I've ever had. I love all the dipping sauces especially the sweet chili and cilantro. The momos were covered in the butter masala sauce. The dumplings itself were so soft with tender meat. I do wish there was some spice in this dish. It was also cheesier than I expected. There were counter seats and regular 2 person cafeteria seats that you can move around to make a larger table. Parking is tricky (available in the main parking lot, a smaller lot behind the building off Palms or street parking on overland. Spaces become more available when the yoga classes upstairs finish a class (find the nearest yoga mat holder and follow them to their car... but don't be creepy!) The food: Himalayan fried rice with grilled chicken - so plentiful and filling! Took half of it to go. Coco curry bowl - very flavorful, no notes Manchurian momo - the sauce with it was really spicy. Just the way I like it! The dumplings were juicy and tasty. Very obvious since this place is known for their dumplings! Mango lassi - very creamy and perfect combo with the spice I saw people around us ordering a wide array of dishes which showed me that everything on their menu was worth trying. OMG! Incredible! The line before they open will confirm this. One of my besties told me this was a must, so we came on a Wednesday at 5:15pm, 15 mins before they open and snagged a parking spot. Parking is limited but lots of street parking. We waited patiently by the door. Soon after there were multiple people to follow. We order a bunch of momos. The butter masala and the saag with paneer mixture. Additionally, with got the cauliflower chili and the paneer pakora. Everything was incredible. It was too much food for 2 people but it gave us a ton of leftovers. We left for a hike in Brentwood and came back for dessert. They have a nice selection of ice cream, traditional and Nepali favors. The one that came with my momos was a dark red sauce that overpowered the masala in its spicyness. When I ordered from the app, I picked "spicy" as my spice level but it was unclear to me that the spice level you choose corresponds to the sauce you receive and not the spicyness of the dumplings themselves. We first heard about it from a story where an influencer talked about this 'hidden gem', then another influencer did the same thing and the craziness began. Two previous failed attempts to eat there due to an insane parking lot and insane line to wait in (all before 7pm). Third try was a Friday at 5:15pm (we skipped lunch) to make sure we could get in and not have to wait too long. Tiny parking lot with people coming in from both sides was not any better but we found street parking nearby. We did a quick lookup as we waited outside to see what the internet says about Nepalese food as we LOVE Indian food - "milder, lighter and relies more on fresh vegetables & herbs - focusing on natural flavors of the ingredients rather than heavy sauces" We were hungry and wanted to try lots of things - Butter Masala Momo, Coco Momo, Himalayan Chowmein, and Saag Curry Bowl All good-sized portions, especially the Chowmein but where is the flavor?! I can live without spice, as we purposely didn't try anything spicy. But was super disappointed that nothing tasted all that interesting. It was all pretty bland, especially the Saag. You order at counter... friendly welcoming people ready to help you with your order, they give you a number and then about 5 minutes later they serve your piping hot food to your table. The somosas were very good, plenty of potato with carrot and pea filling, not at all greasy and came with both tamarind and mint chutneys. Their momos are round soft doughy little dumplings, almost the consistency of gnocchi. Their creamy tomato butter masala sauce is super yummy comfort food, even topped with a bit of melted cheese! Their creamy sag (spinach) is also a true comfort food...both can be ordered on top of momos or with rice. They offer chinese style spicy noodles too. This place was popping! We got there about 30 mins after it opened and all the tables were taken and there was a line. We ended up ordering the butter masala momo, chicken 65 and the samosas. I wanted to get the chicken lollipop but it was already sold out. The momo was so good. Super flavorful and the filling was juicy. The chicken 65 was also so good. Very crispy with a hint of spice. It's so exciting for a restaurant in the difficult landscape of LA get their stars! Momo has increased in popularity and its well deserved. I, like many, saw it on Tiktok and had to try. The first time we went, it was closed unexpectedly on a Monday since they had to make more Momos to keep up in demand!! So we went back Tuesday and there was a line right at open. Friends who visited Tibet had told me about the Tibetan momos- a popular dumpling with fillings made of chicken, buffalo, and (yike!) yak! I was so so glad to find Momo Souls, where I can get the Tibetan momos without risking Altitude Sickness! We've ordered delivery a few times and we love their Masala momos! The cream sauce is very rich and tasty. It was so rich that I used the leftover sauce to make a pot of Masala chicken after we had the momos. The Achari momos were too salty for our taste! Placed my order and went to pick up: it was very quick (within 15-20 minutes) and service was nice and friendly. I ordered a variety of items, including samosas, roti, and three types of momos: Afghan, Manchurian, and Butter Chicken. Just note that Momo Souls' momos are not traditionally-prepared, but rather with different sauces poured on pre-made dumplings. All the same, the verdict: -- Samosas (3.5/5): nice and flaky crust and plenty of potato filling inside, but strangely had a cinnamon flavor to it? I wasn't used to the flavor profile, but texture-wise was tasty. -- Roti (4.5/5): a little on the dry side, but excellent flaky texture. It tasted just as good reheated as leftovers! -- Afghan momos (4/5): creamy sauce that strangely reminded me of Alfredo sauce, but it paired well with the momos! -- Manchurian momos (3/5): sweet chili sauce flavor, reminiscent of Indo-Chinese taste. Nepalese food is unique with a blend of North Indian and Chinese flavors and techniques. Momos are classic dumplings and momo soul brings the classic flavors from Kathmandu. When you see the word 'schezuan' anything, you know it's the famous schezuan sauce, fiery and bold. They also do the soy chaap, which I have not come across anywhere else in North America. Soy chaap is a meat alternative that's steamed and then fried to mimic chicken or any other meat. It can be had in many different types of curries or sauce bases. I tried the paneer (cottage cheese) momos that come with stir fried peppers and onions in a fiery red schezuan sauce. Soy chaap with schezuan sauce and had a similar stir fry in red sauce to the momos along with a side order of rice that helps mellow out the heat. I also got the coco curry bowl with tofu, think green curry with tofu. Despite asking for medium, unlike the other two dishes that were fiery, this one was mild. You can pick your protein from chicken to soy to paneer depending on the type of dish you get. Overall a very satisfying takeout that lasted over 3 meals. A definite solid addition to the west side that is proudly authentic. Tashi the owner from Kathmandu was sweet and offered us a sample of ice cream while we waited for our order. We will be back to eat in person as they seemed to serve on plant based leafy bowls. Tip: they have fresh home made ice cream that was pretty satisfying, however some flavors may use a bunch of food color, so ask if you are allergic or don't want a multi colored tongue. Tip: if you can handle some spice, go for medium. They bring the flavors of the subcontinent and are not shy in bringing on the heat. This was likely due to the TikTok rush with a line almost out the door. However, the staff did incredibly well to keep up with the demand and didn't look bothered by the amount of ordered. They were very attentive and receptive whenever we needed something. The food was brought out in a timely manner and it was worth every second of waiting. We ordered two of the momos, samosas, the fried paneer and chow mein. The star of the night was definitely butter masala momo and the sauce was something you'd want to drink. I want it on everything and would try all of their butter masala dishes. Other notables were the samosas which were a must order with the mint chutney sauce and fried paneer although I do wish the cheese was melted on the inside and not solid. I'd probably skip the second Momo we got and the chow mein. Good but not great and I'm sure the other options are much better. If you're looking for a chill place for a great meal, I'd highly suggest Momo Souls. Parking is incredibly tight in the area and you do have to be quick to snag a place to sit, but if you go during a slower time it'll be worth the trip. read more

Ordered takeout from here. Pickup was convenient as there are quite a few 15 minute parking spots in the plaza's parking lot. Food was ready on time and well packed. I got an order of the butter masala fries and butter masala momo. Both were really good. The fries and sauce were a great combination and was a meal in itself. The chicken momo dumplings were also really good especially with the butter masala sauce. It did get a little heavy though, maybe just needed something refreshing to cut through all the sauce. Momo Souls is a colorful and fun little spot tucked on the end of the Overland and Palms shopping center. The staff is very patient and generous as they helped us pick what we ordered for our first time in the restaurant. We opted to try the samosas, Chili Momos (chicken) and Butter Masala Momos (chicken). And to our surprise they gave us some complimentary mango lassis. They were also really generous with giving us all the sauces to try with the Momos. The butter masala was the favorite of the two that we tried because the sauce was nice and creamy but not too rich. The mango lassi was just right and complimented the Chili Momos and the Samosa's spice really well. I'd like to try more of their menu the next time I go back. read more
