So I totally love going to this place. I visited NY last year and this year for spring break and stayed in Bay Ridge at a friend's apartment. Bagel Boy was only 2 blocks away and during our trips my boyfriend and I got breakfast here probably five times and every time we were really satisfied! The Everything bagels are delicious with the perfect amount of seasoning. I get the veggie cream cheese which is crunchy and full of veggies. This year I tried the scallion cream cheese and lox. A bagel with cream cheese is only $1.75. The menu says you can also get flavored cream cheese (scallion, veggie, walnut, strawberry or lox, etc.) on your bagel for $3... So if you get what I got (scallion cream cheese for $3 and lox for an additional $3) your bagel ends up being $6+ Bagel boy also offers a TON of other items, like salads, knish, meat trays, pasta, fruit, sandwiches, wraps, baked goods (cookies, donuts, lava cakes, etc.). This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. They also cater and you can order online. At the Bay Ridge location there is no seating and every time I've been there (anywhere from 8am to 11am) they've been pretty busy. They're very efficient however and get your order taken care of quickly. I do believe you can have your bagels toasted at this location. read more

Bagel Boy is an icon of Bay Ridge. Everytime I have an out of state visitor I immediately bring them to Bagel Boy so they know what a good bagel tastes like. I have been going to Bagel Boy since I have been a child. Their bagels are great, their coffee is that classic New York deli coffee which is better than Starbucks, and their chicken sandwich on a bagel is so good!!!! Hmmm I can't really tell the difference in bagels (the everything bagel wheat) vs the dyker place. They have pretty similiar cream cheese options. 2 bagels with scallions and jalopeno cheedar cheese cost $8! I do enjoy the bagels but perhaps next time I should just get the plain cheese. I've been going here for over 10 yrs. They are a BR anchor. Solid bagels, crispy with a slight chew, and definitely not obscenely huge like the bagel places in the city. Some of the more "famously popular" bagel spots in Manhattan just go overboard with the size and the salt. Always a line in the morning, but it moves fast. Know what you want before you reach the counter, words to live by, keep it moving. Everyone will appreciate it. Bagel Boy also make a solid tuna salad, whitefish salad, and the classic lox and cream cheese with onions and capers. I come here about once a week. They always have onion bagels no matter the time or day (at least when I go) and I appreciate that. I have been here several times to have their bagels and I really only get one type of bagel for the most part which is the everything bagel. The bagels here are always baked fresh and have the perfect amount of moistness with the perfect level of saltiness to them. My go-to is the everything bagel toasted with lox spread. The lox spread here is a must-try if you love smoked salmon. I like when the smoked salmon is blended in smoothly with the cream cheese with bits of the salmon in there and this place definitely does it right. I definitely recommend starting your morning with a fresh bagel from here if you are in the area. They also have another location around Sheepshead Bay area as well so I would check that out if this one is out of the way. read more

Out of the three bagel shops I tried in New York, Bagel Boy was the best. Murrays in Greenwich Village was a close 2nd. Bagels in NY are supposed to be the benchmark for all others, and BB did not disappoint. I have had some pretty good ones in Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, and Orange County California, but BB tops them all. I tried the onion, poppy, and sesame, and they were all fresh baked with a perfect texture. They are made on site all day ensuring the ultimate freshness. Their lox were incredibly tender and flavorful as well. When in Brooklyn, this is your place for a great bagel breakfast. Since they are open 24 hours, also a great place to soak up the booze after a night on the town. They have another location in Brooklyn and one in Old Bridge NJ too. I've been multiple times on weekends for bagels. Sometimes it's super crowded, others not. But it's worth the (relatively short) wait for sure! The star attraction here for my inner five year old are the rainbow bagels and funfetti cream cheese, but they have many other solid options including their muffins and other cream cheeses and bagels. The bagels at Bagel Boy are mediocre at best, so why did I give it 4 stars? The service is super fast, professional and nice. A lot of props to the staff for doing such a great job at providing great service for the customers no matter how busy and long the line gets. The guys behind the counter are super funny! Along with such great service the flavored cream cheese that they have are pretty damn tasty. Everything is fresh here - the quality of the product is high...I've just had better bagels in Brooklyn. I ordered a BEC on a whole wheat everything bagel and asked to substitute American cheese for mozzarella, thankfully they did without an extra charge. The place is clean and has a variety of bagels including French toast, blueberry and rainbow! The bagels are probably the best in the area. (Also had the privilege of having some fresh out of the oven at 5:30 am and it was just...heaven) The salt and everything bagels are a bit too much salt (they use sea salt) for my tastes, but all in all, it's beautifully crispy on the outside, and the inside has that nice bit of chew without tasting like cheap dough. The cream cheeses that are made in house are great and the variety makes it hard to pick just one. The panini's are ok at best though...I would stick to the bagels (getting 3 free for buying 12 bagels doesn't hurt either.) read more
