I was SHOCKED when we went an hour before closing and they still had bagels galore. They had quite a few staff working, so I imagine this is a giant bagel operation. The jalapeno cayenne bagel with garden veggie cream cheese was everything I didn't know I needed. Next time I need to try one of their sandwiches. While I have not tried side door bagel yet, I am ruling this the best place to get a bagel in Indy. You'll need to pick up your bagels to go (or if it's nice you might be able to steal a table by Whole Foods). Great place is the city to get real bagels and the best everything bagels I have found. You can park right in front. Always open in the morning for breakfast. They have every bagel flavor imaginable, but my favorite were the classics like Everything and Blueberry! They also have a bunch of sandwich options with eggs or meat, great it you are looking for more of a meal! My favorite item in the shop was their variety of cream cheese spreads! I got the scallion and I have been using it on all my sandwiches since I ran out of bagels and it has been the perfect pop of fresh flavor!! Our dozen bagels, bread-y perfection in an unassuming brown bag, included onion bagels packed separately in their own small brown bag. So correct! Apple Cinnamon Cranberry were perfect for the holiday weekend, and I'll look for them again next time. The Sesame was the same chewy, flavorful bagel I remember from high school. No lox/capers were on the menu, alas, but lox spread, pastrami, and corned beef would nicely substitute on a savory bagel. Since our eyes were bigger than our stomachs I can confirm our bagels were still amazingly yummy a day later (ziplock helped). Consistent standards and seasonal novelties make this a great stop, still in the same Nora/Target plaza off 86th Street that it's been for years. I don't think you can find a better bagel in Indy. Otherwise, the new space is clean and well-organized. They do take card payments now. If you're a fan of cream cheese on your bagels, you will not be disappointed with their options--I recommend their Cinnamon Brown Sugar or Lox cream cheeses, nothing else like it in Indy. This bagel shop is the closest you'll get to a NJ/NY bagel (coming from someone from NJ). Prices are cheap, bagels are fresh, and the service is always great. My favorite is the bialy bagel which has diced onion and poppyseed. They are also not stingy with the cream cheese! You get a ton of it. When I have guests over, I usually will buy a dozen or so bagels and get a few tubs of cream cheese. My favorite cream cheese is the lox and strawberry. Now they take cards and even Apple Pay which I appreciate given the current pandemic. They've kept up with the times and continue to put out simple yet fresh quality products. They're also inexpensive. I don't have a favorite bagel or schmear. I tend to try a different combo each time, but I always get it heated. They also offer drink options in a refrigerated case by the counter. I haven't tried the sandwiches or coffee but they are also offered on their menu. This place is the best. I have been going here forever and everything is always good because they taste like authentic NY bagels. My husband and daughter love their everything bagels while I prefer their pumpernickel and their jalapeno bagel. The latter has a little bit of heat but is not overpowering at all. Bagels are $1.10 each. You can't beat that for a piece of delicious chewiness. It's a small place with no seating. They only sell bagels but they do also offer some basic bagel sandwiches. The cream cheese offerings are limited and they do sell containers of cream cheese as well. Sometimes when I get the pumpernickel and cream cheese sandwich it doesn't make it home as I start eating it in the car! Shush-don't tell anyone. T I do wish they would add a vegan cream cheese but Whole Foods is next door so I go there to get some for my daughter. The staff is great. Everyone social distances and you can expect to see a person or two standing outside waiting as it is a small place, however, they are very efficient. There is no seating. It is strictly takeout. You can order ahead if you are buying a few. Tip: If you order a mix and include the everything bagel, ask them to put it in a separate bag otherwise the seasoning may get on the other bagels. I ordered a sesame bagel with scallion cream cheese and my husband got a jalapeño bagel with plain spread. They really slather on the cream cheese for the ultimate bagel experience. Both combos were so delicious. The scallion cream cheese was probably my favorite part. The bagel dough was soft and easy to chew, unlike the store bought bagels that are too chewy. The only thing I would change is to toast the bagels before the spread goes on but I was able to scrape off on side and toast it when I got home. There is also a refrigerator where you can buy a little container of their spread flavors for $4 each. Great option if you are buying a handful of bagels. read more

The ONLY place to even consider getting bagels. In fact if you go around town to a coffee shop or what not and are like "Wow, this is a good bagel", chances are they purchase them from here. Pro-tips: Get here early. Bagels are best when fresh. If you do order a bagel sandwich and need a place to eat, Whole Foods has some outdoor dining and has a water bottle filling station inside near the restrooms. It is sometimes interesting to see the employees interact with each other. There is an older woman who I believe is the owner and she will occasionally interact with an employee but is otherwise very stoic, like a distant creator god overseeing her creation. Credit cards are accepted now but pay in cash if possible. It really helps out the local business when they can avoid the card processing fees. read more

Sell 'everything' bagels?! You're almost bound to get a five-star review from me! After months of driving past a big, red sign that literally just reads BAGELS, I finally stopped in. There was an incredibly friendly guy who greeted me, and I was happy to see that they still had a big variety of bagels even though it was afternoon (about 1pm). You can take a lot of bagels to-go, or you can order a bagel with cream cheese (they have several options), egg and cheese, lox, etc. I don't recall there being any tables for you to eat there, but the place is small, so it's preferred that you take it for the road. Many local coffee shops and restaurants sell Bagel Fair bagels (including SoHo), so it was wonderful to go straight to the source and stock up. I'll be back! read more

If you know, you know. How is it that I have missed this place for all my years living in the city? I know. It's location. It's in a strip mall in an area I just never go to. I feel like it lives on an island. This is one of those places that once you find it, you feel like it belongs in it's own brick and mortar in the most happening place in town. This is a serious Bagel operation. Walking in you'll notice its just a counter and deep kitchen when they put in the work. They have it all. The smell alone should cost an arm and a leg. The prices are actually pretty reasonable for this quality of Bagel. I get the Jalapeño Cayenne Bagel with Garden Veggie Cream Cheese. It's spicy, but still subtle enough to not scare you. I've been here in the morning and the line is out the door. I have also been here half an hour before closing and they had ALL the bagels still being served up. Unlike every other competitor, this place is stacked. The staff is super friendly and will always welcome you with great conversation and vibes. I was lucky enough to see the Bagels being made fresh. The bagels here are awesome! The big red BAGELS sign immediately caught my attention and I knew I had to try it. I've only tried had the Lox spread, but it's delicious. There are small chunks of the fish and it's very flavorful. You can also buy prepackaged containers to take home. They have a wide variety of bagel options and spreads. The salt and everything bagels are both amazing! Myself and coworkers have all been very happy after getting breakfast from here. They also sell sandwich bagels if just cream cheese isn't your thing. I do wish they had the option of toasting a bagel. It would also be nice to include a knife with orders to spread the cream cheese. You can see from the photo all of mine stuck to one side.
