However, great Bagels can't save this review. it was 10: 30 in the morning on a Wednesday and there were eight people in line in front of me. because there was only one person servicing the counter, that line took 15 minutes to get me back out the door. I have been in love with this place for years. Ever since I was a kid in kindergarten I got a plain bagel with cream cheese delivered to the school once a week for lunch. The bagels are made fresh ever morning and the left overs are donated at the end of the day. They have a water bath to cook the bagels which gives them a soft, authentic taste. The staff is fun and high energy. If the line is out the door, everyone will be served in less than 10 minutes. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality that you receive. Can't recommend this place simply because the owner is obnoxious and very abrasive. Like the Soup N*zi from Seinfeld. These difficult times mean it's takeout only and that seems to be tipping him over the edge. First problem, it can be a 45 minute wait for a couple bagels with cream cheese. That's bad enough. He also runs out of popular choices like plain and cinnamon raisin right away. Also bad. But by far the worst thing is his attitude. He yells at you if you don't park in the right spot when picking up, he gets confused about what he says to you about your pickup number or your order when he's running back and forth and then insults you because he misunderstood you. I deliberately have kept my orders really simple, but I'd actually be afraid to ask him for anything extra like ketchup or napkins. I've been there a few times now and have either been yelled at myself or seen other people parked near me get yelled at. Today I actually had to ask him to chill out. So after trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and support local business, I'm honestly sick of his attitude. He needs to calm down and be professional. If running a takeout business in a bagel shop has him this frazzled, perhaps he should consider closing for the time being. Best bagels in Monmouth County! When my friends come from out of town and want to try their very first Pork Roll I take them straight here. They do a Pork Roll, Egg & Cheese right! I go to Bagelmasters every time I visit my sister in NJ. I get the "dozen" bagels which is actually like 15 bagels or something! I keep a few out and freeze two per bag. Then defrost, toast and cream cheese and send two with my sister when she goes to work in NYC from Red Bank. She hates when I go back home! No more lunch bagels for her! Great tasting bagels. Lots of varieties of both bagels and cream cheeses, the classic NJ bagel sammies for those who want to get their pork roll on, and several varieties of coffee. Nothing like a big bagel, I hate the places that make bagels the size of 1/2 a slice of bread, ridiculous. These are big and tasty and a large variety. BagelMasters is an institution in the area. For more than 10 years it's the only thing zi want Sunday mornings. Everything is fresh and you can taste it. In all my years never had an old or tough bagel. The correct thing to do is add porkroll, egg and cheese to your bagel if choice (I like egg bagels) and enjoy real New Jersey culture. The line is long during peak hours and the wait can be annoying, but as any child knows all good things are worth a little wait. It's actually 3.5 stars. Lots of different flavors...maybe 20 or more. Very busy at times. Price is very good for a breakfast bagel sandwich. Bagels are good and amounts of what they give you is also good. I like my bagels soft in the middle but crisp on the outside. I find these bagels to be soft in the middle and also soft on the outside. Have tried three different flavors and has been this way.
