I never have high expectations for a bagel place, but this was really good! I just needed something simple before going to work one day (I'm not from TX) and decided on this place after reading some reviews. Good bagel and cream cheese selection - I got a garlic bagel with herb spread and an Oregon chai tea to drink. I think the thing I was most impressed about was the degree of toasting. There are a lot of ways to overtoast or undertoast a piece of starch, but this was spot-on, hands-down the best toasting job I've ever had. Just the surface was toasted, so it was firm enough to handle some aggressive smearing on the surface, but the rest was soft so that you didn't feel like you were biting into a gob of crumbs. The food was good too, in case that's important to anyone. I thought the tea was a bit mild, but chai's one of those things where everyone has their own taste for tea to milk ratio. Fast service and good prices. For anyone playing Pokemon Go, there isn't a PokeStop here, but there is a gym! read more

Drive by this place every morning on the way to work and always want to try it and I'm SO glad I finally did!! So many bagel an cream cheese combinations and their cheesy mushroom soup was DELICIOUS!! Staff was very friendly and patient. This place is horrible, walked in at 11:01 to be rudely told that the grill was already turned off and breakfast sandwiches would no longer be made. What bagel shop stops serving breakfast?! Turn the grill back on! Needless to say, we took our business elsewhere. read more

Large choice of bagels, cream cheese toppings (I walked out of Eistein Bros because they didn't have many cream cheese toppings, or yuk flavored low fat cream cheese), other toppings, many varieties of breads, sandwich toppings, meats, spreads, cheeses, breakfast foods, drinks, desserts, coffees. LARGE portions. Your only limited by your imagination, or take from their menu. I ordered a dried sun tomato and onion bagel with vegetable cream cheese. Yum. Also ordered the Monica salad to go. I make this type of salad for myself sans the raspberry vinegrette. I prefer their dressing. This salad had a delightfully unexpected flavor. I will return here without a second thought every time we come through Amarillo since we travel through Amarillo frequently from our home town. Even my Meat and Potatoes husband enjoyed this food, without the usual "rabbit food" jokes. He kept thanking me for picking this place. For those of you from the east coast, I too am from there, as well as coming from a line of Italian old school cooks. I have been baking breads for many years using a variety of home ground grains. My preference is a "bagel" that is actually softer than the Jewish bread bagel. Just my preference. Just like some prefer a sour dough over French or Italian breads. If your looking for an exact east coast bagel, then don't expect it in the west, or make your own. read more

Wonderful breakfast croissant, breakfast taco and breakfast burrito. Friendly staff too. We purchased a fresh fruit cup from the display case and after eating the apples on top a molded grape was revealed. They quickly made a fresh fruit cup to replace the molded one. The only other con was that we had to deal with flies hanging out in the dining area. read more

There were at least five people standing around behind the counter, none of whom wanted to be there. After rudely being ignored while waiting to order, 20 minutes later they gave our sandwiches to another table. Nice. read more

I was passing through town and got stuck fixing a flat tire early in the morning. I decided to find a hot breakfast and found this place on yelp. I LOVE supporting small local businesses and this one did not disappoint! The girl that waited on me was so nice! Customer service is really a dying art; especially at food establishments. I am sorry I did not catch her name to give her credit. I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon, egg, hash browns and cheese as well as a french toast bagel with a honey/cinnamon schemer (recommended by the girl taking my order). First of all, DAYUMMMMM! The burrito weighed a good pound and was enough for two people. I ate half and had the other half during my 9 hour drive to Flagstaff. I saved the bagel for the following morning. It was fantastic, although, I'm sure it would have been much better fresh than after sitting in my cooler all day and night. I cannot recommend this place enough! I will definitely stop again the next time I am passing through Amarillo! read more

So I tried the Bagel Place for the 3rd time since moving back to Amarillo in January of this year. All three times I've gone have been about 7ish in the morning and every time they have been out of the flavor of bagel I requested. Fourth time will not be a charm as I won't try again. They didn't used to have this problem. What has happened in the last 5 years to this place? And curiously it actually used to be busier at that time so where are all the bagels going...sigh. i can not even give this place even 1 star. we have lunch catered in our office all the time from here. but today when we called the establishment to inform them that there was mold on their bread... the management was rude and said we was lying about the mold. a man came to our office to pick up the tray, never appologized and still claimed it was "something green" on pumpkin bread and not mold! after the man left the owner called and said it was mold and then appologized. still.... our office will never be ordering from here again. its a shame too.... our reps spend alot of money there. read more

Being intolerant to gluten, I have a small variety of foods to eat everywhere I go. As the girl took my order (unenthusiastic without a smile) I began with "do you have any gluten free options?" She then said, "yes, they all are." 1. This girl didn't know what gluten was when she worked at a bakery- one star deducted. In reaction to her answer, I said " can I get a breakfast burrito with sausage, egg, and cheese on a corn tortilla?" With a disgusted look she wrote down my order and turned it in. I payed for my taco and drink and a few minutes later she came back and told me they didn't have any corn tortillas, only flour. I then told her I didn't want it anymore and demanded a refund, which she didn't know how to do. 2. Not knowing what is on your menu board and not knowing how to work the register when that's what you're there to do- second star deducted. Although the manager that helped was very friendly he was hesitant to why I wanted a refund. (Keep in mind I'm with three other people) our food was ready for take out and the girl kept saying the wrong order. Our order receipt was right in front of her and she told us all the wrong order causing us to be confused and she said "I know this is y'all's" very rude. 3. A simple task to read the order off the receipt and not get frustrated with customers- third star deducted. Now for the two stars: 1. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their bagels 2. Food is great! Except sometimes if you come a couple hours before they close the food isn't at its' best. I sometimes get a really dry bagel when I come in the afternoons. Love all the different brews of coffee they have! Always great and fresh. If you are looking for great customer service, it's not the place to go. Occasionally you'll get good customer service but most of the time the employees are rude and cranky, no matter how nice you are to them. If you don't care much about customer service, then it's a good place to go! Cute little store and always clean. read more

I've been coming here since I was 7. My sister and I used to walk from our house to have lunch. It has always had great food, if they get your order right.. the customer service has definitely declined over the past few years. I'm not sure if it's the employees fault, or if the restaurant is set up in a confusing way for them, but for every 4 times I go, at least once something is wrong with my order. I usually order lunch for my mother and I, 2 soups, 2 bagels, 2 cream cheeses... and somehow it's still manages to get put in the bag wrong. For example, today I got 2 soups with bagels and cream cheese.. they gave me one wrong soup, so I called when I got to my office. The manager told me they had run out of the one I had ordered hours ago, and the employee must have just "picked" that one for me (clam chowder..), with out asking or informing me they were out.. the manager put my name on the board so next time I go they will cover my soup cost. Great. I will forever be on the Bagel Place refund board. I thought everything was fixed (although there was an unwanted soup that my mother graciously ate) but once I went to take a bite of my Everything bagel, with PLAIN cream cheese something was weird and sweet about it... IT WAS FRENCH VANILLA. Apparently they hadn't marked the container and mistook it for plain. Very sad that the quality of service has gone so bad. Very good little place! We were looking for a Panera and could not find one and settled on this restaurant and we're very pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the service was perfect! Lots of homemade bagels and desserts and a wide selection of coffee. We will definitely stop by this place when we're traveling through Amarillo again. read more
