Onion Bagel with cream cheese
Yara M.

Bagelman has quickly become one of my favorite places in Greenville. It's a local deli that is simply great. I think their breakfast sandwiches are the highlight. It's a simple place serving good bagels. The staff is always kind and helpful.

First time here. I enjoyed the bagels and cream cheese. Eggs on the side were good also. Good size menu with lots of options. Besides bagels they have Deli sandwiches, wraps, paninis, melts, and desserts. Good service as well. I will be back to try more!

Food is normally good but I got fries and a sandwich and I found a staple in my fries??? Literally have never had this problem before but it was like stuck in the fry..

Love this local cafe/bakery for breakfast and snacks. I usually don't like bagel because they are hard to chew, but I like Bagelman's. Made in house they claim and it is different than store brought or chain. My go to is bagel with peanut butter, or egg and cheese. Their pies and cakes are great too, except for the muffins, muffin was dry. I would avoid their deli begal sandwich. Too little deli meat. It is always crowded on the weekend morning so you know locals love them.

Busy busy busy and yet the service was great, food was fresh, good selection of food, drinks, and dessert. You can dine in or choose to take out. Clean inside and out and has a wonderful aroma that meets you before entering the store.

The big ass pickle was indeed huge and yummy. That is where the compliments end. The person who took our order was disinterested. The guy making the sandwiches was vaping. Yuck! My son had the ripple (reason we came here) barely had hummus and he said it was inedible. We ended up walking down the street to have pizza. I had the Turkey Lurkey with spicy mustard (aka Dijon!). It was flavorless. I added the onions from the cucumber salad. My husband had the pee wee Herman with turkey. The turkey was dry and flavor was ok.

I found it amusing that we were asked if we wanted menus as there wasn't a menu in the window outside or inside on the wall. Seating is sparse for the available space, so we were only left with seating out back, with no real shade. We placed our orders and finally grabbed a table inside which was much more comfortable. The sandwiches were .... Adequate. For just under $10 I would expect more. 3 sandwiches and 3 sodas $46. Oof. It appears like this deli hasn't been around long, and lacks any charm or character. The girl who served us was less than enthusiastic which was disappointing. Put some menus up on the wall, in the windows. More seats/ tables. Umbrellas outside out back? Improvements that will help. A generous 4 stars.

Food takes some time as each are made to order but worth it. Nice and helpful staff at the counter. The Deets: I had the chance recently to go tailgating before an ECU football game, and my friends that regularly do so recommended Pirate's Deli so we stopped on our way to the game. This deli is fairly good sized with a extended menu of offerings on a board around two of the walls near the ordering counter/pickup area. The staff was nice and helpful when ordering. I looked over all the great and plentiful choices, finding the NY Yankee Chicken Cutlet Sandwich (breaded chicken, bacon, melted Swiss, lettuce/tomato, with honey mustard) which looked just right for me. Orders do take a while to come up as each are made to order and there were a few people ahead of us already getting their game day selections. Our orders were out soon enough and we were off to tailgate. The sandwich was very good...just messy enough to be interesting but not chaos to eat and the components came together for a great tasting combination (see pic). I was pretty satisfied with this sandwich and would definitely get this one again. Everyone one else felt the same about their food selections as well. In all, a good stop into Pirate's Deli to secure some tailgating eats before the game.

The fruit cup looked like it had been frozen and had odd white specks all over it. Took that back to the front and got some Cheetos. Spring mix on my sandwich was absolutely foul - slimy and old. Cucumbers in the salad were so old they were wet and the one that got into my mouth was bitter and soft. When I brought that back to the manager there was no apology, no offer to make things right for a $14 sandwich/salad - just yelled back to the kitchen that they needed to throw those cucumbers away. There are really great McAlister's locations out there - this is not one of them. The place was nearly empty on a Sunday afternoon, so I assume everyone else has already figured out what we learned: this location is poorly managed and has no quality control. You're better off lighting a $20 bill outside than spending it on food inside. BTW manager: we notified the health department that you're serving food that is unsafe to eat.

We were seated quickly enough but the tables are set up so that some tables have chairs set so your back is directly in front of someone else's chair sideways. So, the diner sitting behind me stared at my back the entire time they were there. I just found this the most awkward of arrangements I've ever seen in a restaurant. I ordered a water & baked ziti with meatballs. When my lunch arrived I thought the meatballs looked dry but after tasting them, while they did look dry on the outside, they were moist and tasted delicious. The rest of the entree was a disappointment. I didn't feel as though there was enough sauce on the ziti, it tasted overcooked and the layers of cheese on top had baked too long. So long it was hard to break off and enjoy in one bite - ziti, meatball and cheese all in one taste. The toasted bread needed more butter as it was just dry toast to me. I had plenty of leftovers and tried to pawn them off on my husband for dinner. While he did eat it all he also made mention that even after heating it up in the microwave, the cheese was still hard to eat. Our server either had too many tables or just doesn't believe in refilling water. I had hopes that if my glass only had ice in it she would take that as a hint to refill it. It was not to be and I had to hunt down a drink soon as we left the restaurant. All in all, this isn't a place I would return to. I liked the atmosphere and the transparent kitchen, it just isn't a place I would spend anymore money in.
