These bagels are unique in that the dough is very dense, so if you haven't tried them and are in Croton, it is definitely worth a stop. They usually have plenty of bagels remaining even at mid day so if you are out of area you can enjoy the drive to Croton and have lunch here. Don't even want to give this place a star at all but i have no other choice. I stopped by here for a quick bagel for lunch. I ordered a egg bagel with cream cheese and jelly and to find out while I saw eating it there was peanut butter inside mixed with the jelly. They must have used the same spoon they use to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Although thankfully im not allergic to nuts this is a big concern for me because if i had been allergic to nuts this wouldve ended really differently than just me not being happy with a sandwich. I've been coming to this bagel place since I was a little girl, it's truly a neighborhood staple. The bagels are delicious, orders are taken care of relatively fast, and the staff are nice enough! I'm also shocked by all of the horrible reviews but I chalk it up to a preference of bagel texture: these bagels are on the doughier/chewier side, but I have never eaten anything from here remotely inedible or undercooked. Their egg breakfast sandwiches are delicious as well as a their lox, however the one downside to this place is that it is pretty expensive, a lox sandwich will run you around $15. It's small on the inside with a few booths, so when there's a long line it gets crowded but moves fast. I also just got half a dozen bagels to go for the first time and have zero complaints, they were cooked perfectly fine - again I think the complaints are more due to texture preference based on who's eating the bagel. I came mid day on a Wednesday as a stop on a road trip. There was no line, VERY friendly staff, and delicious bagels. The woman who helped us, Paula, really made the experience for us. This place has a lot of really great and unique creamed cheese flavors, including bacon, jalapeño, and olive. Paula let us try tiny samples to ensure we loved the bagels we selected. These are not BIG bagels, but it really felt like the perfect amount. The cappuccino/hot chocolate machine was a great addition. Staff was friendly (a bit unorganized) but everyone was working....food was good and place was clean. I got an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and hubby got everything bagel, bacon, egg, and cheese. Plus, they sell J.B. Marshall coffee which is my fave! We got there around 9:45am on a sat with no line, but when we left at 10:30am a large line was definitely building so I would get there on the earlier side. So after moving up to "the country" I took a dozen into our Park Avenue office, where several other New Yorkers, and a couple of die-hard H&Hers worked. I was thanked for stopping at H&H for bagels!! The owner is a top-notch musician as well -- ran across him at a gig and learned that bagels feed his music. So while it's a 20-minute drive each way from our house, when company is coming, or on a lazy weekend, it's worth the drive. read more

Still eating the bagel I bought there about an hour ago. This place needs some serious re-vamping or just plain cleaning. Somehow the guy managed to hear 'two bagels with lox' bc in the end that's what I got. At $9 a piece. Normally I would have been all 'eff this manggg' but ugh, whatever. Their bagel with 'lox spread' is only $3 so I suppose I should have went that route instead of dropping a twenty--remember, I ended up with dos bagels. Quality wise, it's as expected in taste. Could the lox be of better fish? Oh hellssssss yes. Clearly this is farm raised, run of the mill. The bagel is dunkin donuts dinko size too which does not fit its $9 price tag. $6-7 and I wouldn't be complaining. You can really tell that they are made by hand with love and although they are small, add some shmear & you'll be full after one! You'll find all your normal bagels: everything, sesame, plain but then you've also got egg everything & various types of cream cheese that are really delicious! I personally love the chive or jalepeno cream cheese on an everything bagel! There aren't many tables but you can grab a bagel & go! I am a big fan of Bagels-on-Hudson, our local bagel and donut shop. Bagels: I am a creature of habit, so my favorite bagels are the everything bagel, toasted with scallion cream cheese; and the cinnamon raisin bagel, toasted, with walnut raisin cream cheese. They are pretty accommodating in regards to preferences (think scooped, toasted to a burnt fashion, or just lightly warmed). They are very generous with their cream cheese portioning, so be wary of this in case you don't like your cream cheese oozing out the bagel with every bite. (4 stars) Donuts: a recent addition to our lovely store is the "Hot Dippity Donuts" - they have custom made, freshly baked donuts for you to eat. THEY ARE DELICIOUS. They are only open during weekend hours, except at special request. I would most recommend the Cinnamon Roll (cinnamon donut, with vanilla icing) or the French Toast (cinnamon donut, cream cheese icing) donuts. (4 stars) The service is usually pretty quick, but the weekends are congested for sure. So if you come during peak hours on the weekend, or during the morning rush, there will be a line. The waiters are used to the regulars, and are always happy and quick. I've had the BLT there as well which is great on an everything bagel. They also do serve-yourself coffee and tea at the front of the store. They have your basic deli variety coffees, iced teas, and chips as well. They have seating in booths as well as some high stool tables. In the warmer weather, (or year round I guess), they have outdoor seating as well. OVERALL HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more
