While not my "go to" bagel shop in the neighborhood. I pop in from time to time if I find myself on the westbound side of Bloomfield Ave. with parking available in front. Above average bagels. Chewy outer layer and not too doughy. Although, I must confess that have nothing against a doughy bagel from time to time. Today, I ordered a jalapeño bagel with double egg and turkey sausage. The sandwich was vey well constructed and delicious. The staff is always very kind and attentive. My only small knock would be the prices are a bit on the high side. I paid $9.98 including tax for the sandwich described above along with a small coffee. When I order this exact meal from other shops in the area the average cost usually falls between $7.50 and $8.50 including tax. All in all I will more than likely visit the Caldwell Bagelwich again. read more

Tried this local spot out today for the first time. Does good business it was a busy Saturday morning. I thought they had really good prices. We ordered 5 bagels and it took a few minutes to come out but nothing crazy. They were working hard there. I'd say it's an average bagel place. It wasnt bad but nothing special. Went here a few times. Friendly service. Bagels are very good. Not doughy. Been to a number of bagel stores in various towns. Seems like a small coffee and bagel .Went from $5.75 to $6.00. This place has really good bagels and the Price for small coffee and buttered bagel $3.85. Goes to show you. I was so excited to find a Bagel shop in Caldwell as we have just moved here. This may be a good place but my biggest disapointment is that they have menu items all over the place with absolutely no pricing posted. Stopped in this week for a quick bagel and coffee. This is a bagel shop which is definitely takeout, only a few stools by the window. The onion bagel with butter was fine. Next time I'll try an egg sandwich. I gave an extra star because the coffee was delicious! I was able to find a parking spot on street in front. Not the freshest bagels I've ever tasted and I visited early in the day. Overall my bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel was average at best and that's being generous. Probably the worst bagel sandwich I've ever had. Went to visit a friend locally so we ordered two bagel sandwiches thru Grubhub. Sandwiches arrived in a timely manner, but the sandwiches themselves where a disgrace. Wound up throwing them in the garbage. Utilized Bagelwich to order about 3 dozen bagels and spread for a group of colleagues at a nearby university. I called them as soon as they opened to order and promptly taken care of when I arrived. Bagels were delicious and given to my fresh out of the oven. The bag was super warm as I carried it out! Very happy to know that there is a good bagel shop around. If you are looking for excellent bagels I recommend bagelwich. I called ahead of time and the food was ready on the spot. When I walked in, I was greeted nicely by the people working there. I even ordered a dozen bagels and they hooked me up with two extra bagels because of their special. Usually places don't tell their customers about specials, they would usually let the customers find it out on themselves. And the Taylor ham egg and cheese was really good. Let me start off by saying their bagels are delicious, however the service lacks. I always get my bagels from here but the problems never end. Toast well done - Nope, they just don't care enough. Once through the toaster and it's done. Never a good crunch. Bagel with butter - They butter only 1/2 of the bagel so you get 1/2 a good bagel and the other 1/2 is dry as can be. You would think a simple fix would be to ask them to butter both halves, nope that equated to me squeezing my bagel into the garbage can to get the 5 lbs. of butter out of it. Today it took 15 minutes to get 6 mini bagels and for me to be told they were out of Tuna. Counter staff was on their personal cell phone and I guess didn't care that I was standing there. 5 minutes tops was all I should have been there as I was the only customer. This is my normal bagel spot and my husband and I go here at least once a month. Their bagels are always fresh and soft, and the coffee is hot and perfectly prepared. I usually get my bagels scooped, and they do a great job of leaving just enough dough to make it enjoyable. When you order a sandwich, they load it with whatever you've ordered, whether it be meat or egg. Also, their veggie cream cheese is one of the best around. read more

I've been going to this place for years, untill a couple months ago two guy ran the day to day in there without a hitch. Now there is a whole new crew and they are terrible. Every time we go there it's something else. If you're not waiting an hour for a Taylor ham egg and cheese , they give you the wrong kind of bagel with enough butter on it for three more bagels. My wife and I used to frequent this bagel spot frequently right after moving to the caldwells in 2014. Prior to that we used to go to jersey boy bagels in Morris plains which is ten times better than this place. This place was decent the first couple times we went and then started to go down hill. I'm not sure if the management changes or what but the bagels are not as fresh tasting anymore (even at 8 am). The staff except for the women are nasty (especially the two guys, not the one who makes the bagels but the other two). The one time I ordered two bagels with cream cheese and the guy thought I said butter because cream cheese sounds like butter, and then proceeded to give me a really bad attitude because I told him I wanted cream cheese. read more

I used to frequent the Verona branch of this store and except for the occasional slow service ( due to crazy crowds) service was always friendly and fast. In the West Caldwell branch I ordered a single sausage egg and cheese on a poppie seed bagel. The guy who rang me up tried to charge me double the price (by accident) which is no big deal as I caught the discrepancy. But when I questioned the price of $9.44 for one sandwich I promptly received a nasty little attitude. From now on if I want a bagel I will drive the extra distance to the Verona store, at least there they value the saying that the customer is always right. read more

The Bagelwich is the best bagel shop around without a doubt and make the best Taylor Ham, egg and cheese in the county. The line can build up fast on the weekends so you might want to call in your order, but they usually have at least 4-5 people taking orders inside. The bagels at Caldwell location are as delicious as the ones in the Verona location. However, the service at the store could not be worse. You wait and unreasonable amount of time to get taken care of, and that is only IF they get your order correct. Unfortunately, they have gotten my order wrong for the last time. It is very disappointing to get home and unwrap your food and it is consistently the wrong order. Several chances now and I am done. Maybe when they get proper management I will return. I work and live in Caldwell, and my family in Verona told me to try Bagelwich over there and it was delicious. So I decided to try the Bagelwich in West Caldwell. While the food is fantastic, their customer service is not. The people in my office order from here almost every day, and every day I received attitude. The man on the phone would hang up, not give me an estimated time of delivery, and would show up whenever. This past time he told me 25 minutes when I could finally ask for a time, and showed up 45 minutes later. He had called me twice and when I came out to get my food he was extremely nasty and did not even give me the chance to sign the receipt that I had paid with a debit card. Not worth the attitude.
