My wife and I decided to go to breakfast this morning after seeing them on Good Day Sacramento. We walked in and initially only saw one employee working in the kitchen. She yelled to someone to help us, but she didn't get an answer. So she left the kitchen, took our order, and then went back. I ordered the breakfast burrito and my wife ordered the breakfast sandwich. After a sizable wait our food arrived. My wife enjoyed her sandwich, and I really wanted to enjoy my burrito. The coffee arrived in a press, and we were pointed toward the place where the sugar and cream are located. When I noticed they were out of cream I asked for some. An employee grabbed some for us, but he really came across like we were interrupting him. I then went to the counter for some hot sauce for my burrito, and again he seemed like I was a bother. We saw a woman I presumed to be the owner wall around but we were never asked how our food was or if we needed more coffee. The customer service was just not good, which is too bad because I really wanted to like this place. The food is good. However, as a customer I don't want to feel like a burden to the place I am spending my money. read more

Stumbled in thinking it was just a small a bakery and was pleasantly surprised. They have all kinds gourmet sandwiches and cookies. The grilled ham and cheese was probably the best one I've had. My mom had a vegetarian sandwich with asparagus, eggplant, cheese, etc. It was great as well. The customer service was nice. I'll definitely be coming back. UPDATE 05/2017: I still think the food is great but the service is very slow. Each visit I've had to wait 15-20+ minutes for a sandwich. So I'm downgrading to 4 stars. There is no shortage of sandwich spots serving Savemart bread, warmed in a microwave. You won't find a single microwave in Baguettes' kitchen. "If it's not made fresh, it's not made" is more than just a Baguettes' slogan; it's a promise. Owner, Paula, puts her heart and soul into every single dish and detail and refuses to take shortcuts or sacrifice quality, even when it means less profit and more labor, as it usually does. Out on her ranch, she rises early every morning, feeding her hens and collecting the eggs that Baguettes uses, before she gets to work preparing dough and baking fresh bread. There's a good chance you've seen her come out from the kitchen looking like she rolled around in a bag of flour. It's awesome. She roasts vegetables for her homemade salsa and serves it with chips made from scratch, just like all the other sides, salads, and sauces that accompany her creatively crafted, mouthwatering sandwiches and burgers. If that's not enough to send you into a food coma, there's always an assortment of delicious cookies that Paula "throws together" with seemingly random ingredients and that somehow taste magical. I recommend getting some to go so you can enjoy them once you wake from your coma. I have begged to be notified the instant I can get my hands on more Elvis cookies. I don't usually leave reviews but when you eat something as good as the burger I had tonight, you must tell everyone. The Tiffany Chilean burger was the best burger I have eaten in a very long time. The blackberry jalapeño glaze was good enough to eat off of a flip flop! The burger itself was like one you used to eat when you were a kid. Thick, juicy and full of flavor. The homemade bun was the perfect vessel for the melted Havarti and crispy onions. I will definitely be back for my next burger fix. I feel like the food is rather pricey for a order-at-the-counter place, and the hours are inconvenient for anyone working out of town. Service was good--friendly, but long. The chips are the best part of the meals; they're these thick, fluffy tortilla chips. I had the cubano, and it was good, but nothing memorable for me. I also had an oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookie, but felt it was overbaked, dry and hard. I'll come back to try the breakfast burritos. Their sales shirts kind of make you roll your eyes and don't fit in with the environment or ambiance, in my opinion. I went the first time to get out of my comfort zone and try some place new. I don't go out too much. I've come back three times, and tried different sandwhiches each time. Each time I was impressed in new ways, and jealous that I couldn't cook like that. Every time I've gone, I've only seen the owner running it. I don't know the owner's/chef's name, but she definitely deserves to be mentioned with all the care she puts into the food. By far the most remarkable sandwich I've ever ever had. I was sad to see they had closed at the other location but absolutely delighted to see they reopened at the former one. I can't wait to return for something else to try. Last time, I had the tri tip sandwich which was spot on, and made me want more. Today, I got the last order of tuna for the day, and I felt eye-daggers at me as I walked past the line-- the tuna panini is THAT delicious!!! It's heaven. New location, still same great taste. Only downside is that it's ALOT smaller. Not a lot of seating inside, so we had a hard time trying to find a place to sit during the hot days. The Owner/Cook is very nice & she works so hard & handles it by herself very well. I love their burritos with their fresh salsa. It's the perfect salsa for their burritos & can't imagine using any other type of salsa with it. My husband loves the tri tip salad. Comes with chips and salsa which were very fresh and tasty or blue cheese/ bacon potato salad which was lacking in seasoning. Overall it was a good lunch, but at $11.00 for one sandwich it seemed overpriced. We also had an almond joy cookie which was very fresh, but had one almond in the whole cookie! I found this place on Yelp and made plans to go with a friend. While waiting we were kind of confused since you had to stand at the counter and order. To be such a small local place it was kind of expensive ... I think we ended up spending at $50 for the two of us. The lady taking our orders was very nice and took the time to explain how things work. It didn't take too long to get our food as we were the only ones in there, but after a while it started to fill up. The seating seems like a bit of an issue. The bench seating was very high up to the table and made sitting there a little uncomfortable and weird. Since my friend os shorter she sat on the side. As the place started to fill up we had to get up and move our table over so two older lady scold sit down. The table they wanted only had a small space between the wall and the table, it made for quite the adventure trying to give them enough space. The food: The food was pretty good. I had to tear pieces off of the bread because it was toasted so hard. The flavor of everything was nice and the mimosas were quite good also. Didn't even try the food. Yesterday, my mom, sister, and I got there at about 10:30am, ordered, and sat down. This is one of those places where if you pay with a credit card, it asks you to enter in a tip on the CC machine, up front, even before you've experienced their service or have had food. We were waiting and talking and started noticing that other people who arrived after us had already received their food. It had been about 50 minutes since we ordered and still nothing. We asked on the ETA of our food, and the guy who took our order said, "It should be coming up, uhh what was your name?" We answered, and it was clear that our ticket wasn't even up there. Ok, I get mistakes happen, but when other people kept getting their food before us, I think its reasonable to expect an explanation or an apology. None were given. We even saw him re-print our order. At about 11:45am, we still had not received our food so we decide to leave and ask for a refund. They didn't seem to care either way, and we kept being told, "it was coming right out." We were pretty fed up, and I just wanted a refund, but he said, "well its ready now, do you want it boxed up?", I said "well, if its ready., whatever". (still no apology or explanation of what happened.) But I had to confirm that I would still be getting a refund, and he said no, since I was taking the food! I said, "forget it, I don't want the food, I just want my money back." I even asked, "Do you understand our frustration? Nothing has been explained to us on what happened. Would you be OK with service like this?". All he could say, was that "It's just really busy". I was confused because not every table was taken and there wasn't even a wait outside. And honestly, that is a such a cop out because everywhere in Elk Grove is busy, especially on a Sunday Morning. Well, turns out he didn't know how to perform a refund from a Credit Card and explained, that I would just be getting cash. (there goes that $7 tip I naively gave them before all this happened!) When I asked why, I got a mumbled answer, "it just has to be cash". Then I asked if there was a manager to speak to, and he pointed to another young man with tattoo sleeves, and said, "Well he's here." The other dude he pointed to was making sandwiches, and heard the entire conversation, but never looked up. Was he the manager? I have no idea. If he was actually the manager, he didn't feel the need to intervene or answer any of my questions. (My receipt has the name Celia T, but the person who was working the register was a tall guy, with dark hair and complexion. Maybe Celia knew how to do the CC refund?) I accept the cash refund, as it seems like it would have been the only way, but its not even the full refund. I ask, "Our bill was more than, this, why am I short?". The dude said, "Well, you did drink the coffee, right?" "Yes, because we were waiting for our food" "Well....you still drank it". UNBELIEVABLE. This was probably the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I don't understand how any business would find this acceptable. No one tried to explain or apologize. No one tried to make it right, or give any reason for us to give them a 2nd chance. Even one of the cooks (Blond lady), came out of the kitchen, to talk to some other patrons at a table to talk about what had happened. I cannot even believe they would still make us pay for the coffee. If your restaurant isn't even at full capacity, and finds it "too busy", then management needs to take a serious look on what kind of business they want to run, and maybe reevaluate how food is ordered and prepared. This was supposed to be a pleasant Sunday morning with my mom and sister, and 2 hours were wasted. I will never recommend this place to anyone, and I might actually go out of my way to inform and warn people of this inexcusable experience. Sad! read more

Hands down the best sandwich spot in Elk Grove! The bread is made fresh daily and the sandwiches are crave-able! I've tried a handful, but my favorite is definitely the apple and brie sammy. The service has always been friendly and the owner, Paula has always been great to me and my family. Elk Grove needs more business like Baguettes. read more

We'd always enjoyed our sporadic visits to Baguettes, back when they had a small cafe on Elk Grove-Florin. We moved to East Sac (restaurant nirvana) a few years ago, and even tho we're often down in EG, we hadn't been to their new location until today. Why did we wait so long!? First, the space...a slam dunk! Plentiful seating, beautiful decor, nice open feeling, a friendly and homey atmosphere. Now, the eats...also a slam dunk. I had the Warriorz Salad, and loved the fresh greens, tender abundant smoked tri-tip, bacon, and cider dressing with bbq sauce on the side. My son had the California Turkey, he said it was perfect, and the house made chips and salsa a great addition. I hesitate to talk about my husband's choice...it broke my heart! I sooo wanted to steal it from him! It was the Meatloaf burger, off the specials board. Make this a regular offering please! I pestered him for a few bites, and wanted more! Juicy patty, fresh baked focaccia, but the real star of this dish was that sauce. What was that lovely, slightly sweet yet almost teriyaki type glaze, and can I order it by the pint? There was not a drop wasted on his plate. And those giant curly fries...oh my! We'll definitely be back. We also got a fresh baked cinnamon roll to go, and split it at home. Also delicious! Way to go Baguettes, East Sac has nothing on you! Great little local sandwich spot. Located in the corner of the shopping center. If you don't look you might miss it. From the outside, it doesn't look very big but when you enter it is surprisingly on the larger side. They even have patio seating which is located out another door on the side. The inside has this western and frenchie like feel. Barrels used as part of the furnishings. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. Many types of sandwiches to select. So we ended up ordering their salmon burger and a portabella mushroom sandwich. Everything was so tasty and piping hot. Great flavors!! Their fries are not your normal fries. Large portions and very additcing. Can't stop eating. The only down side is the longer wait time for your food but is worth it considering the food is served nice and hot - not cold. MOUTHWATERING! SERIOUSLY!!! I ordered for our staff of 10 today for a meeting, EVERYONE raved about the quality, taste, and presentation. The bread for the sandwiches was made FRESH this morning. I mean...the owner came in early for the dough to rise in enough time to bake the bread so she could have our order ready by 11:00 a.m. What other restaurant in Elk Grove does that? And then there were the homemade cookies...I can't even!! The combinations of ingredients that make up the items offered on the menu are to creative, example...the 3 little piggies--Pulled Pork, Ham AND bacon?!? Another fave was the black bean burger salad--poblano chiles, HALF an avocado, homemade salsa dressing, jack cheese. When you open up the clear container, you can feel the care that went into your dish just by the presentation. If anyone gives this place a review under 5 stars, it's most likely because the restaurant can sometimes get busy, there could be employee issues (like someone calling out sick) and as any small business knows, it's not easy to give perfect service when there are people waiting and not enough staff to assist. Like many small businesses, I think they are trying to work out any of those kinks. I always like to give restaurants another chance to wow me! About the cost, a little more than the other lunch places in EG, but only by $1.50-$2.00. For that additional price though, you are getting much higher quality fresh food, fresh baked bread, the sandwiches are piled HIGH with meat, produce and homemade sauces, and NOTHING comes from a Sysco food supplier. This is my favorite sandwich place. Yes your food will take longer and cost more then Subway. But your mouth will be rewarded for it! The bread and ingredients are superb. My favorite is the albacore sandwich this is not the typical can tuna pickle deluxe. The flavor is well balanced with the bacon, greens, tomatoes and tuna. I too learned of this restaurant from Good Day Sacramento, which highlighted some of the popular menu items and how all the baked goods were prepared in-house. Unfortunately, my experience was not a positive one. The customer service: There was a helpful younger male staff/host who took our order and described some of the menu items, but that was the extent of feeling welcomed into a new restaurant. No one ever came out to check on us, offer any condiments or simply ask if we enjoyed our food. Furthermore, it appeared as if our order was made in a rush without attention and care despite there only being two other guests in the restaurant at the time. The food: As a person who loves food, has traveled abroad to various countries, is an aficionado of our diverse Sacramento area eateries and is also a seasoned home cook and baker, I have to say the food is very mediocre and overpriced for the quality. We ordered three entrées: 1) Breakfast Piggy Burrito, 2) Grilled Ham & Cheese Sandwich and 3) French Toast. 1)The Breakfast Piggy Burrito included pulled pork, bacon, ham, potatoes, cheese with a house-made salsa. While the meat trio was flavorful, the burrito remains basic due to the lack of additional seasoning. Nothing special! 2)The Grilled Ham & Cheese Sandwich was just okay. The bread did not taste freshly made and the ham got lost in the other flavors, which were rather bland. 3)The French Toast was the worst I have ever tasted. One might say this is an exaggeration, but I stand firm on this. Their French Toast consists of long baguette slices cut on the bias which is different, but not well executed. The first time it was brought out, the French Toast pieces ranged from slightly warm to cold and chewy in the center. It was obvious the bread was not soaked long enough to absorb a significant amount of the liquid mixture and only cooked long enough to hard the bread. This was very disappointing! As a reasonable person who wants our local restaurants to thrive and live up to its hype, I kindly informed the staff of the issue to have it made again. This time the French Toast did come out hot, but it lacked any resemblance to French Toast; still dry in the center from not being properly soaked, hardly any flavor and stale-tasting bread. In the end, I had to ask that it be taken off the check and a refund issued. I hoped for a better experience, but I am honest in my review. Unfortunately, I will not return and cannot recommend this place to anyone who appreciates quality and flavorful food. read more

I honestly hate writing bad reviews.....but my experience here was horrible. Came in today and we were the only people in the restaurant. I ordered the egg sandwich with no arugula. We seriously waited more than 30 minutes for the sandwich to be made which btw was $13 for a sandwich and a drink. Finally the food arrived.....however I noticed the sandwich was covered in arugula, wasn't cut at all...just a whole piece of bread and had NO EGG. yes....an egg sandwich with no EGG. When I asked the guy at the front, he let me know that he was rushing to get the order out so he forgot...My sandwich looked nothing like the photos and the staff were too busy chatting to get an easy order correct.
