I grew up eating Baja Fresh in Cali, but locations are few and far between in WA. There used to be one in Fremont but now the only two I know of are in Kent and Bellevue. Thankfully I live right by the one in Kent so I can go there as often as I'd like to - which is fairly often! I love the salsa and pepper bar there - delicious complements to their chips and other food items. It's reasonably priced, the restaurant is clean, and the people are polite. I'm trying to think of a reason NOT to give baja fresh 5 stars and I can't think of one. Obviously it is not going to compare to a much more expensive restaurant but that isn't the goal of Baja Fresh anyways. Their food is cheap and delicious! I had the Burrito Ultimo and it was definitely Ultimo! Fresh vegetables and the flour tortilla was perfection... lightly toasted so it was flaky and chewy all at once. The restaurant was bright, clean, and the service staff was friendly and quick. While there was a slight wait for our food, we were given free chips and salsa while we waited. So, I'm giving them 5 stars, not because they would be as good as your favorite restaurant, but because they change the image of fast food and prove you don't have to sacrifice when eating fast food. read more

I think it is absurd to pay over $10 for a burrito and a drink. The food quality is nowhere near what it was, or what the current pricing demands. For a fast food place it lived up to the Fresh part of it's name for me (especially since I try to eat as clean and healthy as possible). I got the BBQ Chicken salad and it was very good. I've been to this location several times. Tonight, I showed up at 8:50 p.m to find the doors locked and employees cleaning up and closing down. Store hours are listed online till 10 p.m, so it was disappointing to drive their thinking they would be open, only to see they have closed down early even before 9 p.m. It's always dirty and always flies circling in the dining room near the salsa bar. Not one of their better locations. Ordered a fajita burrito which was not prepared correctly (too much rice, no salsa créma, not enough onions/peppers---it was evident that the preparer did not know what goes into one if these "underground" or "secret" menu items) and a side salad. The salad was not prepared as for some reason the cashier thought I wanted sour cream so they ordered a side of that for me. Yuck. The salad was made but they gave me the low cal dressing which ruined it. Usually the side salad is a nice side dish. One positive thing was that this location now has lemons instead of limes for their iced tea. Progress I guess. read more

In my experience, as a vegetarian, this place is consistently good, since the last 15 years or so. They send several coupons throughout the year like $5 off $20, B1G1, $2 off $10 etc. The portion sizes are more than acceptable. Wow I'm surprised by the reviews; I was unimpressed. It reminds me of Taco Cabana, which is another place that some people went crazy for and I thought it was just not good. I was appalled by the price. You would be much better off going to Taco Del Mar or Chipotle in my opinion. The salsa bar was pretty cool, too bad they serve crappy chips. This is one of my favorite places to snack. Please not I said snack. They have fresh items that taste good, but the food is not cheap and the portions are not generous. They also lack a fried bean option, so I don't splurge on the meals. Although tasty at time, the food lacks consistency. Their salsas can be thick, fiery and flavorful, but they can also be washed down like they are too cheap to go all in on ingredients. Baja Fresh is the closest thing I have to Rubio's and I had been dreaming about it while getting my neck massaged during my facial. I walk in and know exactly what I want a Baja shrimp burrito and a small drink. I place my order and am told that will be $9.50 please. I choke, excuse me how much? $9.50. I hand over my debit card and pay, oh but I forgot they gave me free chips to eat while waiting how nice of them. I head over to get my drink and DOH to make matters worse they are Pepsi people this makes me sad, no Diet Coke for me. I decide on Sierra Mist, hit the salsa bar and find a table. I do like their salsa bar their hot salsa is good, not nearly hot enough for me but it's tasty, now their pico de gallo if that's what they want to call it wasn't that great yes it was fresh but the tomatoes were cut into half inch cubes along with onions and what ever else they put in it. If everything was cut smaller it would have been better and easier to eat with my free chips. The huge plus is they have fresh cilantro on the salsa bar; I love cilantro so this made me happy. My number is called; I take my burrito back to my seat and dig in. The thing is filled to the rim with shrimp, which is a good thing considering how much I paid for it. Everything is fresh and tasty and once I added the hot salsa and extra cilantro I was one happy girl. But growing up in San Diego where I could get a shrimp burrito for $5.00 that was just as tasty as this one is just wrong. Baja Fresh rocks. A chain? I don't care. Their baja salsa has the most amazing smoky flavor and charcoal color from it's fire roasted, crushed fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapenos and garlic. That alone is worth the trip. I don't care for the flavor of the rice, so I don't order rice bearing items. My recent fave is the Grilled Mahi Mahi Fish Taco. Yum. It's reallllly low in calories and fat, too, so you can eat a couple of them and not regret it if watching the waistline. My husband and daughter both like the rice okay, so you may, too. Baja Fresh is a fast food restaurant that is free of preservatives, artificial colors and flavors, doesn't use lard or microwaves. Everything is cooked fresh, yet fast. You'll wait a couple minutes longer than you would for say a McDonald's "meal", but I've never waited longer than 5 minutes. Salad was ok. Nothing impressive to me. What bothered me was the dirty restroom. Nothing was stocked, no paper towels or toilet paper or soap! One restroom was out of the disposable toilet seats while the other stall liked like someone tried to stuff a stack of it in the container. I couldn't get it out without dropping everything. Was going to go to mucho burrito, but this was closer. Wish I would've just gone to mucho burrito instead. They advertise fresh, but it's not. I'm not an idiot. The lime juice they use is from a bottle. Not freshly squeezed (there's a huge difference). The tomatoes in the Pico de gallo look gross and taste gross. I doubt it's fresh. I know what fresh looks like and taste like, I run a taco truck. Burrito wasn't wrapped in foil. It was cold when served to me. I guess I'm a bit spoiled in that I know what fresh taste like but this place is just gross overall. I don't understand how anyone can rate this place over 3 stars. read more

Food was excellent! Ordered one pork and one shrimp fajita plates. Added a large side of rice to make a great meal for 2 hungry people! Shrimp were grilled perfect and pork was tasty and tender! This place is 30-40 minutes from my house. It is well worth the drive. You simply can't get mexican good like this anywhere. I can't eat lactose so this place is great. You can special order anything. Since everything is made from scratch right in front of you its easy for them to leave off the cheese. I'm a huge fan of their fajitas and burritos. Especially at prices that are cheaper then most mexican places. I'm also a fan of the salsa bar. Mixing and matching to get the perfect hot and sweet flavor is always fun. This place is very over looked and underrated. The food is fresh, flavorful and the service is fear. The only reason I couldn't give this location 5 stars was because there wasn't a clean table to dine (we ordered take-out) and the place had to be below 60 degrees. First, the manager. I believe he was the only person in a blue shirt, while the rest of the staff wore black on black. He took our order as if he peeped the "first-timer" scent from the moment we came in. I wanted a seafood taco, and there was a conveniently placed poster right on the register for him to point to & explain each one. I chose the shrimp and avocado taco combo. Everything was fresh, a bit roughly chopped, but authentic and clean (the food that is). My favorite had to be the six salsa options they had! Tried the hottest 3, pretty legit. Been here many many times for lunch with my work buddies. We love it here and I think the employees there know us now as soon as we walk in now. The food here is good depending on what you order. The nachos are HUGE, and the nacho burrito is great. So are the tacos. But the baja burrito was just mediocre to me. Was disappointed how they didn't wrap it in foil or anything. Didn't cut it in half either. Which is fine, I guess I could have asked for that in the first place. But how does one expect somebody to eat a long fat naked burrito and it not falling apart?! I came here in the summer once, it was nice sitting outside in the sunshine. But next thing we know, there are hornet buzzing all over us! Had to rush inside to enjoy the rest of our lunch. The salsa bar is usually pretty clean and well stocked. Will complain tho, this place could use a little facelift. Especially the bathroom. It looked like some kind of scary deadly mold was growing in there. Prices were very expensive and food was terrible. I got a chicken burrito bowl. It was soggy and had a bad taste. I ordered extra veggies (at an extra cost) and it still didn't have hardly any veggies in it. I also got a kids meal. I got an apple on the side and apple juice. They handed us the apple just cut in half with the entire core and stem still attached. Also they were out of apple juice and didn't tell us until they presented the food. Not to mention the entire establishment was filthy there was food allover the tables, chairs, garbage allover the floors. The cook in the back wasn't wearing gloves. I have a stomach ache now and hope I don't get food poisoning. I couldn't even finish my meal. The entire experience was terrible and I will not be returning to Baja Fresh. The food here is ALWAYS good. I have the Veggie Burrito (there's only one) - w/ Black beans. They have a fresh salsa bar - mild to hot, jalapeno, banana peppers, cilantro lime, salsa verde, and more. Of the places I've been to, none: Renton, Landing, Kent: Plaza, by the Library, compare to the quality of the food here, Taco Time, Taco Bell (not even in the same league). If you're in the area and looking for some decent Mexican food, reasonable prices, this is well worth the trip. read more

the near-by wendys is closed so I was unexpectedly here for an early dinner/snack- I had two tacos with rice and beans (boring) but it was a nice experience. It is a clean and friendly joint. Their guacamole is very good. And their fish tacos- I didn't even know I LIKED fish tacos until I had one here. I had a fish taco here today and it was the WORST fish taco I have ever had!!! Seriously there was not even one thing good about this taco. A limp soggy corn tortilla wrapped around a flavorless piece of fish more like a burrito than a taco. Even their sauces could not help. This was my first visit, as it never crossed my mind to stop here. But I was feeling a bit adventurous so decided to give it a try. It was after 8, was looking for something fast but not heavy and artery clogging.... and I found just that! Upon walking in, I noticed how clean it was. The staff was friendly, and my order came up within 5 minutes of ordering. Salsa bar was awesome with lots of options, loved the mango salsa. Also had limes, fresh cut jalapenos and cilantro to add in. We were offered free chips while we waited, I thought I was in a dream. So used to paying for my chips, esp at other chain Mexican spots ive frequented. They also threw in some free chips with my to go order. My Fajita burrito was amazing, and HUGE!
