I am surprised that I haven't done a review on Baja Fresh Mexican Grill for all these years that I have been going there. I met up with a friend of mine yesterday around 3:45 pm and we both agreed to have the same food. We ordered from their new, limited time/seasonal menu. Got their Black Citrus Burrito with Blackened Shrimp, Black Beans, Mixed Cabbage (green & red) Avocado Slices, Orange Salsa, Lime Rice, Chili Lime Dressing & Cilantro wrapped in a nice warm flour tortilla. Food was very fresh, delicious and citrusy. It was something new to both of us. We both really enjoyed our burritos that also came with a small chips & salsa. Didn't get any drinks. Only water. Service was prompt, and both ladies Aleyda (manager) and Aris were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Aris, also checked on us to make sure everything was ok. Ambiance was nice, chill, place was super clean, and the parking is shared with couple of other businesses. Didn't use the restroom, but has a gender neutral restroom. Great music playing overhead.. Baja Fresh was the go-to for 'fresh' fast-food, Tex-Mex Grill, back in the early 90's. Now, overshadowed by Chipotle, and an ocean of pop-ups and food trucks, they are no longer as popular, but they are still good. The food is fresh and tasty, and you can't beat the salsa bar. The dining room is clean and comfortable, and there are outlets and USB ports at several of the tables. The service here is friendly and I enjoy the self-service beverage counter. Baja Fresh is still worth visiting. read more

Baja Fresh used to be great and affordable. Now you have to order less food, so your cost is not too high. At this location they do not have the Mango Salsa and the extra Hot sauce that I used to get. Check the photo. They cut down on the salsa choices. Also, No Lemons or Limes. read more

Baja Fresh used to be a go-to for my favorite burrito Mexicano, but the one I usually visited closed recently; so when a friend and I were in the area, we stopped here for lunch. It had been a minute since I had placed my usual order, and I had a feeling I was forgetting one of my customizations, which I mentioned to the nice man taking my order. Anyway, after my order was ready, I remembered what it was and I said something to him, sort of just in passing. I sincerely was not trying to get a new order, just joking about my absent-mindedness, but he offered to remake my burrito. I told him that wasn't necessary, since it was my own fault, but he did it, and very quickly too! This is the kind of customer service you love to see, and even though I thanked him on the spot, I wish I'd gotten his name so I could call him out in the best way here too. Is Baja Fresh very authentic? No! On a pinch or when you get a craving it could be fun. This is my closest location so I come here for take out (why fast food and casual joints are so depressing to eat in USA and so lively in Europe?) when we get a craving since it's convenient. Tacos are decent, so are the quesadillas and nachos are fun! It is pretty fresh, but could use more flavor in my book. I don't get drinks, since the selection is poor and old-fashioned. Ok-ish prices and customer service, hit or miss. When don't feel like making dinner, it could be an OK choice. read more

I had a really good experience at this location. Never been, but I had some random coupon and remembered I still enjoy their taquitos, so figured I might as well since I was in the area. Placed the order prior online, and a nice lady helped me out. There was only one other person here when I walked in, and I'm pleased to say this was one clean restaurant. Sometimes the drink area and salsa bar can be kind of messy, which I hate to say is expected to a point, but this place was spotless. It's great to know someone maintains the space very well. Food was ready shortly after, and as I recall, tasted just fine. Although I gave up on their tacos years ago, I'm so glad their taquitos still hold up. I gotta say for a fast food spot, they actually do a good job! It's nice they include veggies into their meals. I haven't been to one in over a decade. I liked all the options avaible. I had a Baja crispy wahoo bowl and it was pretty tasty. I also added some of the mango mild sauce. It was about $18 for the bowl and a drink but inflation everywhere you know, still worth the price. It also came out pretty fast. The fish actually tasted good which I was nervous about because I normally don't do seafood from any place fast food just in case lol. The workers were all really nice especially Manuel. The restaurant also had some indoor and outdoor seating and was very clean. I'd like to come back and try the fajitas for sure. Some of the best "fast food" around! Don't ever believe what an "elite" reviewer says about anything, or take anything they say seriously about anything. There's no dopier "honor" than to be "awarded" an "elite" badge around here. *shhhhh the secret's out!* When an "elite* posts a new review, they are usually thinking about it as just their latest in a series of amazing witty foodie literature, and they instantly alert all their "elite" friends, at which point they all flock to the new review and click the ego-massaging buttons probably without reading the entire review. They know in advance that the person they just fake-complimented will fake-compliment them back the instant they are alerted to a new review by an "elite." It's an endless cycle, like the seasons and the rotation of the Milky Way galaxy----which is located in the Laneakea Galactic Cluster. (Elites don't know what galaxies are.) Some of them actually sport less-than-75 word vocabularies and are horribly inadequate in the spelling, grammar, punctuation and competent-writing departments and many are functionally illiterate when it comes to literature, pop culture, sending coherent texts or tying their own shoelaces. But back to Baja Fresh, Toluca Lake-----I've never been treated in any way here but with friendly, courteous, prompt and efficient attentiveness and service, and I'm sure most of the employees frying the tortilla chips, wrapping the luscious burritos, piling the fresh ingredients into the tostadas and making sure the restrooms are squeaky clean, can out-write most "elites" with their eyes closed. Also a joy to behold at this mecca of healthy Mexican, is one of the best salsa bars on earth which is tended-to regularly and kept clean, stocked and icy fresh. The food here is not slathered with lard or other creepy additives that the "elites" seem to need in order to not curl up into a ball and expire on their way back to their broken down cars. Many of them don't seem to have the necessary funds to explore the higher-end items on this fast-food menu, especially when prices tick slightly upwards as everything else in a capitalist economic system does from time to time. I've always had pleasant experiences when visiting Baja Fresh, no matter the location and today was no different. We stopped in around 2:00pm on a Sunday and they were pretty busy, lots of pickup orders and people eating outside. I went with a Burrito Ultimo with mixed veggies and the bf went with the Burrito Ultimo with Chicken. The order took a while, but we figured it was due to the volume of customers. The food tasted fine, nothing awful or amazingly wonderful. The only complaint was that our favorite salsa from here, the dark black one, was much runnier than normal and didn't taste like it usually does. Good service and the place was spotless. read more

I was a vegetarian my whole life and I'd love walking to Baja Fresh to get a bean and rice platter. It was only 2$ and I could never finish it. And chips were free. Oh man I miss Baja Fresh oh so much. You see, several years ago, all of the Baja Fresh locations in San Diego closed down. I guess in a city as littered with taco shops as we are, Baja Fresh just couldn't grab enough of the Mexican fast food market. So, whenever I'm in LA, I always crave an enchilada style burrito, and this location is often the end of my pilgrimage. Is Baja Fresh the height of authentic cheap Mexican food? No. But those enchilada style burritos are amazingly satisfying (and filling!). Coupled with some chips and their tasty baja salsa, a stop here is reliably tasty. It's been awhile since I have had anything else from their menu, but when I did, it was always good. Clean and limited people indoors. There's tape to show that it's pick up and take out only which is great. There is plenty of parking. My order was made faster than I expected and perfectly rolled by the chef. The sweet lady behind the counter gave me extra salsa, Gracias Doña! Let me start by saying I love Baja Fresh. It was my first job at 16 and I still crave their food. But this location is the WORST. We've been here a few times and every time we are disappointed. I understand COVID took a toll on businesses but their customer service is horrible. I ordered a Diablo burrito and a Baja chicken taco. My burrito was missing the sauce and just lacked taste. I don't think it even had the diablo salsa on it. I was so disappointed that I actually ordered a nacho burrito instead and just threw out the Diablo burrito. The nacho burrito was better but lacked the tortilla strips and I didn't get a bite of jalapeño until the middle of the burrito. Also, my baja chicken taco was made with steak. I went to the counter to ask it be remade with chicken. I waited 15 minutes for them to remake the taco and when I got it back, there were still multiple pieces of the steak on the tortilla (which was cold and hard now) and chicken was put on top of it. They literally picked off the steak and threw some chicken on!! They've completely gone away with their salsa bar. You now have to ask for any salsas. They also clearly do not want you to dine in, as they package everything to go and the dining room is less than welcoming. Had to ask for utensils, as they were not automatically put in the bag. Love Baja Fresh but avoid this location!! You'll just be disappointed. read more

With all the great little hole in the wall Mexican places I enjoy going to, I would have never thought that I would say that I like Baja Fresh (well maybe the Baja Fresh in Toluca Lake) but I guess there can be an anomaly. At my new office, there are not a lot of great lunch choices that is walking distance for me (1 mile max). If I was to leave my office, walk to the parking garage, get in my car, drive to my destination, park, order, eat and come back to my office, I would have already used 1 1/2 to 2 hours. This Baja Fresh is about .5 miles so I decided to give this place a try. The inside seating area is pretty big. they have outdoor seating with limited amount of shade but it's still pretty good. The employees are super nice and they keep their salsa bar stocked up. I ordered the following: 2 battered fish taco plate with guacamole and chips ($9): it was really good. The battered fish was a really good size (see picture), very fresh and flaky. Their rice and beans are yummy and they have a special where you can get a side of guacamole with chips for just $.99. I really enjoyed my lunch and I will definitely go back. read more

Giving two stars only because the staff was friendly. The food was dry, bland and we ordered pork but received (we think) chicken. Received a survey, filled it out, then received a response asking if there solution to let the store know the feedback was sufficient and we replied no. Never heard back from them. Disappointing but I appreciate the friendliness of the staff. Will not eat at a Baja Fresh again since their corporate offices do not seem to be there if needed. Just my opinion. Maybe others have experienced something different but there was absolutely no traffic in the store and they had a National Burrito Day promo so maybe that says something about the food. read more

We all know Baja Fresh and what it has to offer. This specific location bothers me because they are so frugal and cheap about giving you salsa. It's Mexican food, it needs salsa. They went from unlimited salsa bar to allowing 2-3 salsas. If I am paying $15 bucks for a meal, I don't want to argue with you about one extra salsa. It's not all the locations. It's this specific location only. I've also emailed corporate which they did nothing about. The worst Baja Fresh in Los Angeles!  The food is mediore at best. My last visit, the service was unacceptable.  The employees were rude and the cashier was awful.  I've given this branch many tries, they also don't care about covid, last time I went the cashier was mopping the floor,  bagging the food and taking orders. Today I asked for mango salsa the lady throws regular salsa at me, I asked again and she walks away.  Another lady comes and I ask her and she snaps Only one per person and hands me one, I give her the other one back and she throws it away. So it was better to toss it than give it to your paying customer?  The baja salsa used to be serve yourself at the salsa bar. Now it's one per person?. I understand but it's shear laziness when you decide to only give out 1 per customer. This is a consistency issue which I don't think is a company standard.  I'm done with Baja Fresh. There are many Mexican restaurants in the area that are happy to have business - especially in these tough times. Enclosed is a photo from when they gave more than one salsa for a $12.00 burrito.
