We stumbled upon this bakery on a whim when walking around the parking lot looking at other things…read more Even though we were about to go eat dinner, we stopped in for a treat. I was pretty taken aback by how many dessert options they had. Not only did they have a plethora of types of desserts, but they had sooo many flavors/varieties of each one. A dozen different variations of cheesecakes, several cupcake varieties, a dozen different kinds of macarons, several different cakes, tiramisu, tres leches, banana pudding, edible cookie dough, more cookies than I could name, brownies, eclairs, and more that I'm sure I have forgotten. If you can name it, I'm sure they have it. I've been looking for somewhere nearby to get a proper macaron (as opposed to a hard, macaron shaped cookie without the traditional texture) at a reasonable price point. This definitely met those criteria, so of course we tried a flower shaped macaron. It had the perfect, delicate cookie and that classic, light almondy flavor. We also had a brownie batter cookie, which was delicious and reminds me of something I would have saved on Pinterest a decade ago but never gotten around to making, much less as well as they do. Though there was a line inside, we were served super quickly by friendly staff, and found a nice seat outside in the sun. They also had abundant indoor seating. Maybe I'm the last one to hear about Sweet Dough and everyone else has been a fan, or maybe it's a true hidden gem. Either way, I will 100% be back.

Also a good place to stop for sweets! So many options and…read moreI'm sure you'll find something you'll love! The interior was beautiful and the service was awesome!

Apparently, if you bring your Odeh's receipt from the same day, you get 10% off. Though they were closing in less than 10 minutes, they very graciously invited us to take our time. We looked around, and initially I did not know what to get. They have a wide variety, with no bad choices. I was open to anything. But, as someone who ate tiramisu daily during college, and though I am mildly ashamed to admit it, recently ate an entire jar of cookie butter by spoon in less than a week, there was a very clear choice here once I saw it: Biscoff Tiramisu. I 100% made the right choice. This was one of those foods that, upon first bite, rocked my world. It immediately took the spot for my #1 dessert, genuinely. Like, if my birthday were next week, this is what I would choose as my "cake." It has that mild flavored, rich, creaminess of tiramisu, thanks of course to the mascarpone. Without the espresso to cut it, and with the addition of cookie butter, it is very very rich. So much so, that I could only eat half in one sitting. I view this as a good thing. It was very satiating. The cookie butter and the crumbled Biscoff also added a very buttery flavor. All in all, I consider this the perfect dessert. I could eat it daily.

Entrées followed in a reasonable time, no real issue there. Sammy G's has been in High Point for years and offers a wide menu with a little bit of everything. They also bring out little yeast rolls that are pretty good and they were warm when served. We started with the thin cut onion rings. My husband said "less than spectacular," and that sums it up. Some were sliced so thin you mostly tasted breading, and they were a bit greasy. I would skip these. He ordered the fish sandwich with Brussels sprouts (premium side with a small upcharge). The sandwich was okay, nothing special. The Brussels sprouts were good, nicely cooked with solid flavor. I had the Fratellis salad with greens, cranberries, feta, mozzarella, Granny Smith apples, and candied pecans, and added sirloin for an upcharge. They forgot the steak at first, but brought it out shortly after in a separate bowl. Not a big deal. The sirloin was cooked medium as requested, a little red inside and tender enough to cut easily. It had good flavor. I chose the apple cider vinaigrette, which worked well with the salad. I also ordered the chef's selection soup, which was supposed to be lobster bisque. If there was any lobster, it was microscopic. The flavor was slightly bitter and just not good. I asked for it to be taken off the bill. Service handled everything well, including the mistake with the steak and the soup. Atmosphere is casual tavern style, relaxed and easy for a weekday lunch. Must order: Fratellis salad with sirloin and apple cider vinaigrette (yummy), Brussels sprouts Heads up: Skip the thin cut onion rings and don't expect much from the bisque. Other soups, I've had here in the past have been great though.

I always get the Straw Ana which is vanilla custard with fresh strawberries and bananas. My mom and I got the same thing but I just got hot fudge on mine which was really good if you like chocolate. On my last visit I discovered the "Snow monster", vanilla custard, with strawberries and melted chocolate chips, and I've been craving it since! I got another on this recent visit and it hit the spot. The strawberries with the thin streaks of frozen chocolate are an amazing combo. If you're going, be sure to ask for a pup cup and they'll be sure to give you a little bit of custard to take home for your best friend! Great spot, though I will say I'm a bit disappointed they seem to have changed their rewards program since my last visit and I swear it used to be every dollar spent earns a point, now you only get a point every $2. I don't really like that, and may make me reconsider my visits.
