La Deliciosa starts with a high-quality ice cream recipe (14 percent milkfat), adds hand-chopped fresh fruits, and offers more than a dozen inspired flavors. Want rum raisin with real rum? You'll find it here, just as you will blackberry, tres leches, tequila, mango, guava, and more. Ice creams are available in cups or cone bowls though if you prefer your dessert in stick form, there are plenty of paletas (popsicles) as well. There are even mangonadas (a mango/lime/chili drink), a somewhat scarce treat in Greensboro. After much deliberation and the begrudging realization that we couldn't have every flavor at once, my wife and I opted for a small coconut/rum raisin combo and a small strawberries and cream, respectively. The strawberries and cream was rich but not heavy with fresh-tasting berries and hints of white chocolate. The rum raisin puts any commercial equivalent to shame. Without hyperbole, this is some of the best ice cream you are likely to have anywhere. Given the quality and the fact that everything is homemade, the pricing (just north of $3 for a small cup) is hard to argue with. It also helps that the friendly and accommodating staff will be glad to answer your questions, indulge your display-case gawking, and let you sample (within reason) flavor after flavor. As of this writing, La Deliciosa offers only desserts. However, the restaurant just hosted an Ethnosh as a trial run for some lunch/dinner offerings. A Dominican-style roasted chicken was magically juicy and flavorful, black beans and rice were cooked to perfection, tostones were wonderfully crisp, and a trio of accompanying sauces paired nicely with everything. When this place gets its kitchen up and running, watch out. If there is one drawback to La Deliciosa, it is that it is not easy to locate unless you are really looking for it (the space's previous tenant, Los Gordos, shared the same problem). However, if you can navigate your way to the middle of the surrounding shopping center, absolutely phenomenal ice cream awaits. read more

They have tons of flavors, including gansito (a Mexican pastry - think chocolate & strawberry), pineapple coconut and even queso! And yes, the queso ice cream is somehow delicious. It's a bright welcoming environment and staff was very friendly, especially helpful with explaining the flavors we weren't familiar with. They have a lot of fresh fruit popsicles, some even with whole fruit in it. Everything here is FRESH and it shows in the flavors of their ice cream! I will definitely be trying a mangonada next time. It took us good 5-10 minutes to locate this place the first time as its kinda hidden behind a bank in a shopping complex . They have a HUGE selection of paletas both water based and milk/ cream based . They have got some distinct flavours which are new to me and the staff are friendly and patient explaining what each popsicle is made of . So far I have tried most of their milk based one's and they are all freaking awesome . Pine nut , dry fruit , pineapple coconut , coffee almond , pecan , vanilla are some of my favorites. They also have a huge selection of ice creams which are extremely creamy and they have a huge selection of flavors in them as well . The mango popsicle was so good. Unlike a popsicle you'd find in the store, this was made with huge chunks of fresh mango and didn't taste overly sweet. This place is a little difficult to find if you don't know where it is. Easy Peasy. Turn on Farmington Dr from Gate City Blvd. make a left into the first shopping center and go through the buildings. On the right it is! When you first walk in, this place seems like most other ice cream places. But walk up to the freezer and you'll see the have popsicles- LOTS of them. Paletas is actually what they are. They're Mexican popsicles in a HUGE variety of flavors. DO NOT be scared of the strange flavors you may see. You may not even know what they are, and don't be afraid to ask. I asked tons of questions my first visit and the staff was friendly and explained them all to me. For my first visit, I chose Mango with Chili. The flavor was surprising to my tongue. Salty, spicy, sweet. I didn't know what to make of the first bite. But before I knew it, I was halfway through the bar and loving it. I've tried the Mango with Chili, Mexican Vanilla, Tamarind Chili, and Coconut so far and all are excellent. If you haven't had Mexican Vanilla, stop whatever you're doing and go try it. Forget bland American Brewers vanilla. This stuff is so rich and creamy and delicious! Every time we visit my brother in Greensboro we always have to stop by here after having lunch. They have such a variety of popsicles! Not only that but they have my favorite ice cream, Superman! I love all the different flavors they have and that you can choose to have a traditional cream based ice cream, or a water based flavor. I tried a little of the spicy mango bar, and fell in love with the combination of hot and sweet.
