I loved all of them but their signature strawberry cupcake was definitely my favorite. Mid-afternoon on the day after Christmas, it was pretty crowded but there were multiple seating areas to accommodate every group. There are tons of baked good options - on every surface and lining every wall - surely something for everyone. I ordered the cold Chai Latte and a German Chocolate Cupcake. The chai latte had good flavor but was a little sweet for my liking; I waited for the ice to melt to water it down. So the original plan was to go to another very popular cupcake place... until I found this place and read the reviews. Every. single. review. was soo positive and convinced me to completely ignore the other cupcakery. So sure, this review may be a teeny bit biased because I've never been to that other place... Onto the cupcakes-- I got the chocolate doom, dirty chai, peanut butter, and strawberry. I love desserts but am particular about them because I don't like when it's /too/ sweet. Baked & Wired is the perfect balance of satisfying your sweet tooth without making you feel regret. It was sweet and decadent, but not so sweet that you couldn't eat a whole one. These cupcakes are pretty ginormous and have a reasonable amount of frosting that complements the cake perfectly. My personal favorite was the dirty chai which had a wonderful amount of spice that gives you that warm-fuzzy feeling inside. To be honest, I liked everything I tried and would love to go back and try every single one! They have so many unique flavors but my stomach is only so big so it was quite a struggle to pick heh. As for the location, it's located on a one-way street where there's little-to-no parking unless you get lucky and catch someone leaving. The first time I came on Saturday mid-morning, there was no line, which was actually surprising. I feel like the flavor I got this time was perfect. I got the pistachio cupcake and the cake itself was super moist. The icing was thick, but not overwhelming and it wasn't super sweet. I thought it complimented well with the cake itself. I could actually taste the pistachio that was used to make the cake unlike other places where they say it's pistachio but it just tastes like basic vanilla and the cake is just colored pistachio green. There's always a line whenever I come in and seating is limited, but service is prompt! I would highly recommend this place in comparison to the other bakeries that are around in the area. Baked and Wired is a small an unassuming bakery/coffee place with a very well justified reputation. Whether you're grabbing a morning coffee, an afternoon latte, or, more importantly, one, two, or 12 of their cupcakes or other baked goods, chances are you'll find yourself waiting in line. Is it worth it? Absolutely. We spent a long weekend in DC and popped in twice--it would have been more if not for the line. I'm not going to bother recommending a specific cupcake, because we went with a mix and they were all fantastic. So, my official recommendation would be to get whatever sounds best, and definitely get more than one. You waited for a reason, and this is it. Now isn't the time to skimp. So good! I heard about this place from multiple friends and wanted to give it a try while I was in DC! We waited in line for around 15 minutes but it was well worth the wait! All the cupcakes were so delicious and unique and went really well with the coffee here! Dirty Chai: loved it! Loved the subtle hint of chai but couldn't really taste the espresso in the cream frosting. Still amazing though! Strawberry: also great! I thought the strawberry cream was subtle and not super overpowering. Tessita: amazing! The dulce de leche cream went really well with the frosting! It was a sizzling summer Saturday with temps above 90 degrees when I walked up to Baked & Wired and noted a line stretching out onto the sidewalk. I almost didn't stop but then reconsidered. I had made it that far on foot (okay, I had walked like five blocks, but still...) and heard amazing things. Easily my favorite cupcakes in Georgetown. Georgetown cupcakes was extremely disappointing and having had Sprinkles before, my boyfriend and I turned to Baked and Wired as the last on our list of cupcakes to try. Every time we've gone, the line is a little long but moves pretty quickly. They have menus with their cupcake names and flavors, as well as the other baked goodies that they have at the time. All of the cupcakes are huge and delicious. Seriously. I haven't tried any that I don't like. My favorites are the texas sheetcake, chocolate satin, and the seasonal chocolate peppermint. The cake part is rich and soft (~moist~ lol), but the frosting is the best part. For the texas sheetcake, it's chocolate with a light cinnamon flavor and crunchy pecans. Yes yes yes. Baked and Wired have the best cupcakes in DC and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Each element (icing, cake, filling) compliments each other beautifully together but also tastes delicious stand alone as well. The flavor is not overpowering, instead rich enough that you taste the flavors and make you come back for more. Cupcakes are 5/5. The only spot for improvement would be the chai. If you have a cupcake called "Karen's Birthday" that is vanilla and chocolate (hilarious), then please don't have a chai that is a basic Starbucks American white girl chai unrelated to true original South Asian delicious chai. I suggest asking your local South Asian/Desi mom how she makes hers to improve the recipe. Chai is 2/5. Other drinks were great especially the Thai tea. Service was kind and patient as we decided our cupcakes. The back cafe sitting area is a bit cramped and I've only been able to find seating 2/5 times I've come here. I hope Baked and Wired can expand in the future to allow for a better sitting experience, although given that it's Georgetown, you can simply take your delicious cupcakes down to the water and enjoy the them with a view. read more

Decided to come visit Baked & Wired based on a friend's recommendation and am glad I did! Seemed liked it was a local favorite, so I had to try it before leaving town. I stopped by around 4pm and it was packed with people! My first impression of the place - cute and plenty of options for their sweets! The interior was pretty cool and had couch seating around the back. It was also connected to a cafe - half separated by a wall if you were in need of some caffeine. I had been browsing their yelp page and decided to try one of their ice cream cookie sandwiches. Unfortunately they did not have the delicious looking blueberry swirl ice cream that everyone posted pictures about (seasonal flavor), but I tried their "fo'real" flavor (~$6) - chocolate cookies with dulce de leche ice cream. I didn't realize but they already come pre-wrapped, and so it did not taste as fresh as I liked. Don't get me wrong, the ice cream was delicious, however, I feel like it could have been better if it was made on the spot. It was a little more frozen and compact than I'd like. In UT, every flavor is replaced with sugar, so it was great to have a dessert that didn't make my teeth hurt. Even the rice crispies were toned down, it was glorious. The Thai tea was really cool looking with the color gradient. then twisting it around mixed it all together and it tasted just like a normal Thai tea. Sigh.....I have heard nothing but GREAT things about this place, so while in Georgetown, I HAD to try it out. Thank God for Yelp! I checked the app to find out the store closed in 15 mins. Rushed over to stand in a long line (that was a sign lol) for A post-Birthday cupcake. I said "A", meaning 1, ONE, right?! Well, after ogling ALL of the cupcakes on display, my sweet tooth decided on the Chocolate Frosted Yellow Cake cupcake (my all-time favorite) and the German chocolate cupcake, leaving behind the Red Velvet (what was I thinking??!!!!). So in other words, I go in and made my selections quickly before getting pulled into the cookie or brownie options. Caffeinated drinks were out of the question so late in the evening for me....time was on my side. Let me start by making a strong statement. Baked goods are yummy but staff, not so much. Arrived at 3:30pm and spent $25 only to be told that we needed to leave at 4:00 due to closing. During my road trip, I was excited about arriving in DC for 2 reasons: 1) it was blooming with Cherry Blossoms and 2) the cupcakes! While I initially thought Georgetown Cupcakes was THE spot that everyone talked about for cupcakes, it was actually this place called Baked & Wired that locals recommended to go to instead. And they say "Go where the locals go" so naturally I followed suit and got my long awaited cupcake fix from Baked & Wired. I never actually stepped foot into their shop. With the short time I had in DC, I ordered my cupcakes via Grubhub and had them delivered to where I was staying instead. The Razmanian Devil, Strawberry, and Carrot Cake flavors were the ones I got to try and they were all super yumz! The cupcakes were heavy in weight but actually super moist and airy at the same time. The flavors were pronounced beautiful and the Razmanian Devil ended up being my fav with lemon cake, lemon whipped buttercream, and a surprise raspberry filling middle. The Carrot Cake came in a close second though! I have no commentary on service but it was great to see that they got the entire order correct (3 cupcakes were for me but we ended up ordering around 10) and it arrived in a timely manner too.
