Hot Cocoa, Christmas Cookies & Milk: limited edition cupcakes, Chocolate Graham: good housekeeping favorite
    Elena N.

As a gift, one of our talent sent us bite sized mini cupcakes from Baked by Melissa. They arrived at our office on Tuesday, December 19th around 1:45pm. They were packaged nicely and packed with an ice pack. *Hot Cocoa *Christmas Cookies & Milk: limited edition cupcakes *Chocolate Graham: good housekeeping favorite I think we got 25 of The Latest & Greatest: the original greats + seasonal collection. Since I'm not big on chocolate, I tried the cookies and milk. It was light in flavor and not too sweet, though since it arrived somewhat cold, I found the cake kinda dense and mushy. Not the light, springy cake I typically prefer. Others in the office each had one, but then the rest were kind of forgotten. Cute cupcakes as I think they are a good size. (I love mini / bite sized food items.) And beautifully packaged for shipping. But the cupcakes themselves were just all right.

The flavors are endless -- literally anything you can ever imagine! I walked in with a thought to purchase a couple, but ended up purchasing a dozen! Although they're tasteful, it's a bit expensive for the size that you get.

Reliable location to get cupcakes quickly during the work day for birthdays or special events! I love the service at this location, it's quick and they always have a sample flavor to try for free! Baked by Melissa cupcakes are small which means you can eat a few to try different flavors without getting too full! Each one is moist and the flavors are delicious, definitely try if you're in the area!

I ordered the pack of 25 mini vegan cupcakes for my friends birthday, and they were perfect for the occasion. The selection of flavors definitely provided choices for everyone to find something they liked, and I personally enjoyed the bite-size nature of the cupcakes so that you could try multiple flavors. Because they were vegan, I found them to be a bit dry, but overall, I would definitely get these again for special occasions like holidays or birthdays because they're so fun and cute!

My neighbors are the best! They were in NY and brought back with them some of my favorite mini cupcakes. What a sweet surprise! I love that they are bite sized, literally the size of a quarter. Yes, they are pricey but make for a unique gift. Since they are so tiny, you can try more flavors. They are the perfect consistency and packed with flavor. Since I didn't personally visit this location, I can't comment on the service or ambiance. Gotta love all the brightly colored bites of yumminess. I am so grateful and lucky to have such generous neighbors :D

"Meh. I've experienced better." Came here after trying the birthday cake frosty from Wendy's. So the concept is interesting, get a bunch of bite-sized cupcakes rather than one flavor of a large one from say Magnolia Bakery. In any case, the staff was super nice and the place was clean. No complaints there. The cupcakes I tried were not all that great (a bit dry and lacking in flavor) and I think the value isn't either. There are a lot of other more fulfilling desserts out thereat a better price-point. That or just go to place like Magnolia Bakery where the cupcakes are much larger and cost less. I just can't get behind single-bite cupcakes at this pricing structure. I also miss Crumbs. Best of luck, but not for me.

I've been going here since they opened about 10-14 plus years ago. Now I've been ordering them to be delivered during COVID. Little bites of happiness!

I remember seeing Baked by Melissa when they were small cupcake carts. It's nice to see them in a larger space! This was the first stop on the Great New York Tours' Cupcake Tour of The Village. Since it was a small space, we waited outside while our tour guide Mallory retrieved the cupcakes. The shop is modern and and well lit. There's a white counter with their pictures of the cupcakes on the menu. Their cupcakes truly are "bite-sized"! And since they're so small, you shouldn't feel too guilty about just eating one! Though that's so not possible; they're too damn addicting! We had the "Snowball". Definitely, not one that I'd pick first, but oh was it delicious!!! It was vanilla cake, fudge stuffing, and a coconut topping. I probably would have bought a box full of these quarter-sized cupcakes, but we had other cupcake spots to check out. If you don't live in the city, they offer nationwide shipping, (minimum purchase 25 cupcakes) as well as a "Mini of the Month" Club where you can receive cupcakes throughout the year! They even have other cupcake goodies available for purchase. OH! And they have a Cupcake Pod Machine that you can rent for an event! (Gumballs are so antiquated!) And finally, you can create Custom Cupcakes for a special event or just because you want 300 bite-sized cupcakes to eat in one sitting. Just kidding! Be sure to visit this gem if you find yourself craving cupcakes in the city. Or if you want to go on a sweet neighborhood Cupcake Tour!

This store is so little I almost missed it lol. I dealt with nice and friendly lady who was very helpful and sweet. It's too bad they don't have much choice of cupcakes. They also got cute petite macaroons, but I didn't get them this time. I got 12 cupcakes ( my favorite is red velvet and I got 2 of them :)), and basically they didn't really have more. I didn't get green one for St Patrick day because it was with mint or something. If you are a chocolate lover definitely get some chocolate cup, they are great! And I like with peanut butter and jelly. That's basically it for this location. If you are getting more then 12 it's no much to choice from :(.

Thankfully, this Union Square location never has the lines that the midtown outlets tend to get. And the staff is always friendly. Worth dropping by at least once a month to see what new concoction they've cooked up as "Flavor of the Month." For the true BBM enthusiast, they even dole out trading cards for their monthly flavors and other holiday specials.

Good concept. These cupcakes are pretty to look at but they are completely mediocre when it comes to taste. They're also not the cheapest. A dollar for something this tiny is a lot considering that they don't even taste that great. I found the red velvet to be dry and extremely sweet. The chocolate red velvet was a bit better not as sweet and dry as the red velvet but still below average in taste.

Mini cupcakes that goes into one's hand and ends in one's stomach! Three cupcakes at $3.00 where patrons get to choose as it is package very well upon my arrival home without capsizing. In one huff, all three disappeared into my stomach!! One red velvet, one Cinnamon, and one Mint Chocolate Chip were all good and resonate a moist texture for flavor. It was not dry and price was reasonable for three pieces. Baked By Melissa, sadly, does not concoct traditional cupcake flavors as I was hoping for a simple chocolate, vanilla bean, strawberry, Tiramisu, or even Eclair. I'm glad I had a taste as to see what New Yorkers are fussing about these mini cupcakes. This 7 East 14th Street, Union Square location do not have any seating as it primary serves as a takeout, ergo do not expect to sit and enjoy it on the spot. Melissa is overpriced for five mini cupcakes at $6.75+, whereas I can attain a full size Crumbs cupcake at $4.75. Mini cupcakes are good for the dieter or those who are controlling their sweet intake and/or sugar content level.

There was a bit of a line, but it moved pretty quickly. I am boring, so I just ordered the plain vanilla cupcake, but it was just perfect. It was fresh and the cake itself was wonderful. We had a big party--everyone was happy, but particularly happy with the cookie dough and red velvet. Definitely worth a visit.

I hadn't been here in years so when I pulled up I took a step back to take it all in, the cutesy interior which was clean and not too brightly lit. I checked out the cake prices and flavors and when I was sure of what I wanted I stepped up to the counter and began to take pictures bc there were like 4 attendants and I waited for one to engage with me. A young man did he said are you ready to order I said yes and told him I wanted a strawberry shortcake slice $10 and a Brooklyn black out slice (also $10 and the actual reason I came). When he was boxing I took pictures and thought oh maybe I should switch to the hostess slice (out loud). Another attendant said sure, but then the first one pulled up with the boxes and I was like ok I'll just get a cupcake separate. Why I walk back to the cupcakes to choose and the young man starts helping someone new and I look him in the eye he then rushes over but again starts taking another customer. They were 3 customers in the store in total including me so why he didn't want to provide me service I do not know. But it made me so upset I was like wow am I really gonna spend this much money and this guy is being rude. I had to now get in line behind the 2 other patrons that came in after me. The attendant who rung me up tried to empathize and offered me a free $1 candle- it came from a cup of candle in front of the register and when he placed it on top of the box it rolled onto the counter and I said how many ppl touched that?? It's going in a cake someone is going to eat. I declined the candle, paid and probably will never return. Strawberry shortcake slice was a 6/10 tasted old Hostess cupcake 10/10 I inhaled it no crumbs Brooklyn blackout cake 15/10 moist, thick chocolate perfect. Now I'll tell you right now the birthday cake I got my sister was worth the $25 and change I paid for it. She liked it, I liked it, it made her happy- but the service made me frown I really didn't like it. Total rating 3.5

Okay I was cracking up about my experience here because I literally asked the dumbest question to…read morethe guy working but he was so nice and explained the answer to me until I understood! So fun fact they are now advertising Banana Pudding Hot Chocolate and it is NOT actual hot chocolate but banana pudding made to taste like hot chocolate. Why I got so confused? I don't know! Maybe I have been watching too many videos about Tyra Banks Hot Ice Cream. Either way I appreciate the guys patience and kindness when explaining it to me twice especially because I did not end up ordering that at all (though it sounds interesting) but I did get the regular actual hot chocolate and it was amazing! It tasted like melted marshmallows were in it! Perfect for a cold winter day. In addition we got to the humming bird cake, a cupcake, and the regular banana pudding. My husband had never been here before so you know we had to get the banana pudding, it's their claim to fame. And it is decent. Growing up in North Carolina banana pudding is taken very seriously and is literally at every gathering. Would this be a contender for the cookout? Sure! I have no complaints about. The other baked items were delicious as well. The store is cute unfortunately this location has no indoor seating but plenty of outdoor. It was like negative degrees when we went so we definitely did not sit outside. All and all it's a cute bakery/ sweets shop. There are many locations through out the city. I've been to others and it is consistent. It's definitely not a bad dessert spot to try.

Another employee, Kirk--an older gentleman who looked completely out of place--approached and coughed directly over the slice of cake that had just been cut for me. Yes. Over it. At that moment, I honestly wondered if it was intentional. A young woman nearby immediately caught my reaction and went to the back to replace the slice. She handled the situation professionally and deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the chaos continued. Kirk later made me a hot cocoa, and when I went to drink it, it spilled on me because the lid wasn't secured properly. At that point, I stopped believing in coincidences. And the cake? The German chocolate cake was terrible--dry AF and nothing like the Grand Central location. Not even remotely close. Between the coughing, the spill, and the subpar cake, this visit was uncomfortable, messy, and disappointing. Magnolia should seriously reconsider who they put on the floor and retrain accordingly--because this location is not living up to the brand. But honestly, I believe the 2 guys had to be the owners. While I'm not the biggest cupcake fan, they have a nice selection of cakes, bars, and other things for pretty reasonable prices, especially in Midtown. The staff are also friendly. The most recent time, I got a Ube Buttercake Bar for $4.25, or something very similar. As per the name, it is made with ube, or purple yam, and it has a slight purplish hue. It was just a bit rich, had a soft texture inside, and had a very mild ube flavor with a bit of vanilla. The dessert was decent, but not strong enough of a ube flavor for me to buy it again. Much better was the Brookie I got the first time for $4.50 or so, listed as a blend of their Ooey Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar and Fudge Brownie. I was happy that the chocolate chip part was dark chocolate, and it wasn't overly sweet. Otherwise, it had a nice mix of textures, with some soft and crunchier parts. I liked it a lot more. The prices here are decent enough, and the quality isn't that bad. It's not a place I would go out of my way to go to, but it's nice to be nearby if I want to pick up a snack or something similar.
