It was late on a Saturday night and after a bad restaurant experience I wanted a little sweet treat. We went to a few places closer to the hotel but they were closed, or not looking good, or not what we wanted and then we stumble upon Magnolia. I like it. There were plenty of options. Even with lines, they had plenty of people to grab the food items you wanted and 3 people to ring you up, so it moved pretty quickly but at 10 pm there was a line and it got bigger after we left. Plenty of things that looked great, and I could not make up my mind. The 2 things were got were good. I got a chocolate blondie brownie and it was good, but not fantastic. I should have gotten the cake that I had my eye on. But there was nothing wrong, I just wanted something a little bigger and better. Enjoy my photos.

Magnolia Bakery's famous Banana Pudding was on our must-try list, so we stopped by to grab one while walking around the city. It absolutely lived up to the hype. The Banana Pudding was incredibly creamy, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet. Every bite was delicious, and it's easy to understand why it's so famous. We would happily stop by for it every single day. Unfortunately, we can't say the same about the Red Velvet Cake. The frosting tasted overly sweet and a bit artificial, and overall it just wasn't as flavorful as we expected. It was definitely the weaker item of the two. Even so, the Banana Pudding alone is more than enough reason to visit Magnolia Bakery. It was outstanding and one of the best desserts we had in New York.
My friend told me about this place so we had to try it! My daughter had the red velvet cheesecake and my son had the original cheesecake. They're so cute and delicious. The kids really enjoyed it so much, we went twice during our vacation. The customer service was great! There were so many different flavors I wanted to try, but I'm on a diet. They had some Oreos dessert that looked amazing! I had to resist.
Stopped by to pick up a slice of the Carrot Cake $8.25 from this popular dessert spot near Rockefeller Center in the Midtown area of NYC. The sliced cakes are prepackaged. I brought to the register and had it later that evening. It was delicious.

One they give you your item(s) you are move to the next line for check out. Then you are sent out the exit door. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You felt kinda rush but I guess that is New York for you.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got a small which ran about $6. To be honest, I had better banana pudding and it was mostly whip cream in the filling. Having the pudding out for quick service made it a bit warm for my liking. It might have been better chilled. It was a good place to stop and try it.

There's also a huge selection of pastries and desserts to choose from, so plenty of options if you want to try more than one thing. The line/process can be a little confusing at first since people are walking in from all directions. Just a heads up: you grab your items at the counter and then wrap around to the checkout area. The staff felt a bit quick and "to the point" but that's pretty typical for the NYC pace, so no big deal. Overall, definitely a must stop spot if you're in the area and want to try their banana pudding.

Magnolia Bakery's banana pudding is the absolute best! Cannot miss and must get it if you come as it is what they are well known for. We picked up 2 cake slices for a birthday, the hummingbird slice which has banana, pineapple, and pecans with a cream cheese frosting and a confetti cake slice. The Hummingbird slice was absolutely delicious. It was so moist with the banana and the cream cheese frosting paired so well. The confetti slice was really dry and wasn't saved by the frosting. Not sure if it was the slice we picked but I wouldn't recommend that one.

January's pudding of the month is Hot Chocolate Banana Pudding (small was $6.25). Hot Chocolate Banana Pudding Cup has layers of chocolate banana pudding, rich chocolate wafers, bananas, marshmallow fluff, and a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips for the perfect bite every time. My husband really enjoyed it. Of course, you have to get the Classic Banana Pudding as well. The medium was $7.25. I always get their Chocolate Chunk Blondie ($4.25) and Magic Cookie Bar ($3.95). They are both delicious, golden, buttery, and delightful treats. Magnolia Bakery Is New York's Local Bakery and you should definitely visit when you are in NYC.
Oof love banana pudding, but Magnolia over the years has gotten way too sweet with not enough real banana! We also tried the banana pudding bar with the red velvet flavor and there wasn't bananas in it :(

Although I was laser focused on having the banana pudding there are many other deserts to try. visiting nyc for the first time and want to try a bakery you don't have at home? ya come for the banana bread pudding, it's def worth a try! I actually wanted to try the cookies and cream banana cream but they ran out :( It's creamy, soft and just the perfect dessert to end your lunch or dinner. I do wish I had some ice cream to go with it I feel like that would make this 10x better. You can buy big tubs of these banana cream pudding and I see folks do it all the time! read more

Was never a crazy fan on banana pudding but had to try this out while we were craving dessert. My friends and I shared the Banana Pudding & Milk & Cookies Cheesecake. Super filling, sweet, and fluffy! On a hot day, a bite of this was great to cool us down. It was definitely pretty sweet, but we brought this home as a dessert for later and it still tasted great! read more

Magnolia Bakery is popular bakery known for its American baked goods, ranging from cookies, cakes, and more. I expected this location to be busier, but everything moved quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is rather small, so definitely a grab-and-go type of spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I tried their Banana Pudding and I was not that impressed. It was lukewarm (the cashier grabbed it from the counter) which was disappointing as I feel like it should have been cold (there were a lot of them in the fridge too). I am not sure if they were just trying to get rid of their older Banana Puddings, but as a lover of this dessert, it was whatever. I have had better Banana Pudding at a gas station. read more

To many old-school New Yorkers, they may not have been inside of a "Magnolia Bakery" let alone heard of it. But this wildly popular baked goods/dessert shop has been around since 1996. From what started as a single business in the West Village neighborhood of New York City (on Bleeker St/W. 11th St) has rabidly expanded to roughly 9 other locations (in the NYC area) as well as Los Angeles, Chicago and even internationally. Their business even appeared on the hit TV show, "Sex & The City" as this popularized the entire cupcake craving before it became a thing. The location I am focusing on is one of their busiest in all of NYC, at the corner of 6th Ave & W 49th St in the heart of Lower Manhattan. What makes this location convenient is the close proximity from the Rockefeller Center and the adjacent subway station that is just steps away. However, convenience can draw an insane amount of customers and that is exactly what I experienced. I came with my lady during the afternoon on Sunday 10/12/2025 at around 3:45pm. It was a cool, rainy day and the line had about 20+ guests waiting to get enjoy a yummy dessert. They do have very generous hours of operation being open for business 7 days a week from 8am-10pm. As for the interior layout of this place, it is quite small yet very practical. Furthermore, if you are looking to enjoy your savory treat inside, that won't happen since they do not offer any tables. So plan on taking your food to go. Once inside, you will see several large display cases that feature their selection of cakes, cookies, cheesecakes, cupcakes, brownies, and their #1 most popular and requested item, their "Banana Pudding". This was the only item we ordered as we had dinner plans later that day. After making the trek to nearby Rockefeller Center to enjoy this savory treat, I finally got to try their famous Banana Pudding. The overall consistency had a soft, doughy texture while the banana itself offered a sweeter taste to it. What really bumped this pudding up a notch was the graham cracker crumbles that made every bite quite delicious. They have many other offerings of their puddings available in pumpkin (during the fall months), apple, and red velvet. They also sell their Just the Crumb treats as well as a DIY Pudding Kit. If you're a fan of sweets, definitely check out "Magnolia Bakery" as I was pleasantly surprised. With above average customer service, excellent desserts, decent prices, and a great novelty idea, I am giving this place four stars. read more

Yeah this was some of the worst BP I've ever had. And I know BP ball. No flavor, just felt like I was eating whipped cream. Also the small cup was only filled up halfway, there's a giant hole of air underneath the top layer, literally a lays chip bag. The wafers were hard and stiff and hurt the roof of my mouth. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I get it, there's hella people in line, but this is just sad.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] No love and joy in this pudding. read more

Good! But nothing to rave about Was waiting for some Adel's right across the street and a few of us decided to grab dessert to help us with the wait. On this particular evening, there was no wait! We basically walked right up to order. We decided to try a Banana Pudding and an Apple Crisp Pudding Cup. Both were good! The banana pudding had a nice flavor and I liked the crumbs. I found it a bit sweet and I think a salty element (like a salted caramel ribbon?) would've elevated the flavor. I slightly preferred the Apple Crisp Pudding cuz the acidity from the apples helped cut the sweet a bit. Overall, standard dessert that was good but didn't particularly wow me. read more
I'm showing my BFF around New York City. I had to take them to my favorite place for a cupcake. Besides the architecture of the building. It really does stand out among the crowd and more ways than one. It is a treasure to watch all the staff and all the employees in training WORKING SOOO HARD and delivering all the sweetness they have. I saw my beautiful cupcake and I had to get it and my BFF. Got a cookie and some pudding. Everything is made fresh and the presentation is so lovely. We picked up our items and then brought it to the cashier. It was very kind and helpful Miss Brielle. I've been here 1 million times and I'm really surprised I didn't write anything about it before. It is a wonderful little bakery. There's no chance of eating your item inside... But you can go to 30 rock or even go to Central Park with your goodies and enjoy the Metropolitian atmosphere with your beautiful treat like I did. I really am a big fan of this business. If you go back far enough in Yelp reviews, I'm sure you'll see another review(s) from me with must higher ratings. But now I have to say, "Mid!" When did this place go so down hill? Hopefully it hasn't and y'all can set me straight. I go to Magnolia every time we're in NY (about once a year). And I only go to Magnolia with one purpose - the Banana Pudding. I feel so many other places make amazing bakery goods but the banana pudding is the item that sets them apart and reminds me of my southern roots. This time the banana pudding was lacking both of those - bananas and pudding! It was basically Nila wafers with whipped cream (and of course more cream than wafers). Bananas are cheap so I don't know why those were lacking, and I'm only assuming that they don't homemake their pudding (and the internet confirmed) and those boxes (especially in bulk) are super cheap ... so what gives! So disappointing! I'm sure this area (Rockefeller) and shop will continue to be a tourist spot. I'll be curious to see if others have a better pudding experience. If not, I'll need a different sweet treat when I visit next year! read more

Magnolia is famous for their banana pudding which is unparalleled. I've been here a couple times in the past two months and it's an easy interaction, order, get the goods, pay and leave. No lingering, no seats inside or outside, completely utilitarian which I kinda love. The employees are just there to dish out the goods and then you pay them. As long as you go in knowing how they operate, you'll be golden. Grab one here and carry on the plane if you can't finish! read more

Rating: 3.4/5 We finally tried the famous Banana Pudding from Magnolia Bakery, and honestly, it felt a bit overhyped. We ordered a small cup ($5.95), which seemed pricey for just 4 ounces. The pudding is layered with vanilla wafers, fresh bananas, and creamy vanilla pudding. Compared to other banana puddings I've had, this one was denser and heavier rather than light and airy. Nothing really stood out to me, so I don't quite get why it's considered "world famous." I wouldn't wait in line for it, but if you're nearby and there's little to no wait, it's worth trying once. read more

Magnolia Bakery is a must in NYC, I hear. And it didn't disappoint. This location is great in Rockefeller Center. The location wasn't busy when we popped in on a Saturday around 1pm. I had no idea there would be so much to choose from - cupcakes, cakes, brownies, blondes, cheesecakes, and cookies. It was kind of overwhelming, but we were only there for banana pudding. We placed our order, paid, and left. The lines were kind of confusing though. People were trying to order at the counter where you pay, but you're supposed to order at the counter first and the pay. There is no where to sit and eat, so you have to find somewhere to sit outside. We found a spot to sit across the street. There is plenty of places around this location to sit, which is nice. We ordered the original banana pudding and the seasonal pumpkin spice banana pudding. And both were amazing. Very rich and delicious. The large is pretty big and I had to eat it at two different times. It stayed pretty good in the fridge for a few days. I wish we would have come back and tried a cupcake or cake. read more
I had to try their famous Banana Pudding after hearing about it for a while. In one of their locations close to a crowded area of New York, I came upon a long line of customers trying mainly the banana pudding along with customers buying many cookie souvenirs to bring home. Between my friend and I, we just shared one banana pudding. I enjoyed the mixed banana and other toppings found inside the creamy pudding itself. It was not too sweet & was the perfect portion size for the both of us to share. It's worth the try! read more

I ordered the classic banana pudding, which was really yummy! I loved the wafers with the sweet cream. The texture was super soft, and I just enjoyed it. There were plenty of bananas, and I think that this place is deserving of the hype. I would definitely come back again next time I'm in New York. read more
Been wanting to try Magnolia Bakery since it was recommended to me while being in NYC. I was so happy when I accidentally stumbled by it on my long walk back to the hotel. Luckily it wasn't busy and they were fully stocked so I decided to try the banana pudding red velvet cookie and the banana pudding. YUM the cookie was big, soft and moist and had just the right hint of banana flavor. The banana pudding was everything I thought it would be. Not too sweet with chunks of banana. It was surprisingly light. I ordered the small and it was actually pretty big. So happy I got to try this NYC staple! read more

This bakery is a bit small. It's a good thing there's an employee by the door to explain which line to stand in and to manage the crowd. I came for one thing and that's their banana pudding. It did not disappoint. I love that it's not overly sweet. I just wish it was a bit more chilled. I did go an hour before closing so it might have been a fresh batch. read more

This banana pudding was not very good. It just tasted like whipped cream. The cookies didn't get soft. I did like that it was chunky with the cookies and the bananas, but it wasn't not pudding-like at all. It was just like banana flavored whipped cream. I wouldn't get this again. My banana pudding tastes better. read more
I went here specifically for the Banana pudding and wound up getting 2 and a Carmel pecan cheesecake. It wasn't too busy, but i waited in line 2 different times. I got a lunch Bag as a souvenir and the cheesecake was super good. The Banana pudding lasted a day because i put one on ice in tie Hotel since we didn't have a fridge. read more

Some things aren't worth waiting in a line for, but that is not the case for Magnolia bakery. We waited in a fairly short line, but the service is exceptionally fast. They even have two cash registers going to keep people moving through the line. I had a small classic banana pudding which was the perfect size for me. The pudding was delish, not overly sticky or sweet. The wafers even still had a good crunch. Definitely recommending this stop for banana pudding fans! read more
