Tried the banana pudding and red velvet cheesecake, both of which were delicious, but very sweet. We were sharing both items between a few of us and it worked out perfectly, since I don't think I would've been able to eat either fully alone.

Famous for their Banana Pudding! I've always loved their banana pudding. Came to this location to grab their standard pudding and also the pistachio banana pudding, which was a great change in taste and texture. Tried their mini cupcakes, which were decent. Did not have a good experience with the lady at the banana pudding bar, as she was a bit rude. Otherwise, no issues. A bit of a line, but expected. Price is a little bit high but reasonable for the brand.

I came here for an afternoon sweet treat. I ordered the classic banana pudding, and it was delicious as expected. It was a nice day out and was able to find a table right outside Magnolia to enjoy my dessert. The shop itself is a little small but cute. Service was quick and easy too.

I recently tried Magnolia Bakery, and the highlight was definitely their Classic Banana Pudding. It was so yummy -- creamy, sweet, and perfectly balanced with those soft vanilla wafers. Totally lived up to the hype and left me wanting more! You can actually purchase the banana pudding kit to make at home (see pictures). I wish they had a location in the Bronx because I would definitely visit more often. The young lady that was working the front counter and the register at the same time was so warm and friendly. You can tell this is a popular neighborhood and tourist hot spot ! There was a line out the door. They definitely sell something for everyone's sweet tooth.

Dropped by Magnolia Bakery on a sunny May afternoon, which turned out to be a solid people-watching opportunity thanks to their outdoor seating. It's a prime spot if you like your dessert with a side of pedestrian theater. I tried their famous banana pudding -- the one people rave about like it's life-changing. And honestly? I get it. If you're into soft, borderline mushy textures (I am), this one hits the mark. Creamy, sweet but not cloying, with just enough sponge to pretend there's structure. That said, eating a heavy, dairy-forward dessert on a hot day? Maybe not my brightest idea. Felt like my internal temp rose a couple degrees by the end. I grabbed a lemonade to balance it out, but... it was kind of there. Cold, sure. Tart-ish. Not offensive, but not memorable either. Inside, the bakery gives modern country housewife energy -- think white trim, pastel accents, and the faint whiff of nostalgia. No indoor seating though, so the outdoor tables are really your only hangout option. Staff was sweet, like the banana pudding, just less creamy. All in all: cute, classic, and a decent NYC dessert stop -- just maybe don't banana pudding yourself on a 78° day.

This was a must stop while visiting New York. Just happened to be in the vicinity while in Central Park so we decided to stop. The line was out the door, took about 20 minutes to order but the staff were very friendly. There are a few seats/tables in the store, but easier to pickup and go. 10/10 Banana pudding - creamy, sweet, delicious. I recommend getting at least a medium size because you will finish it, quickly!! 9/10 Red Velvet cheesecake - soooo rich with the perfect texture. The flavor was spot on.

I popped in to check the treats out while waiting for friends. The vanilla cupcake caught my eye and I decided to give it a try. It was delicious and I ate the whole thing. The cupcake was fluffy and light and the icing was sweet. The store was also very cute and had outdoor seating.

Their cupcakes are great but I personally think their cake slices are even better! The cheesecake is good too but unfortunately the blondies aren't my favorite.

I've booked marked Magnolia Bakery and been waiting to try this place since the "cupcake hype" back in early 2000! Monday afternoon with zero line....and luckily found a table as a couple was leaving. Perhaps it's the Manhattan setting or the holiday season, but the store has an old-fashioned, nostalgic charm, like you are stepping into a classic candy shop. There are about 4 small tables but the intend is really order and take it home to enjoy. The interior décor is very simple with black and white tile, but once you step in there's dozens of cakes, cookies, and cupcakes. I really came in for the banana pudding. While Oct/Nov was pumpkin pudding, the Dec/Jan special is chocolate banana pudding. We got one of each flavor and I personally voted for the chocolate version. The dessert is perfectly sweetened with right amount of pudding and bread crumbles. The cashier was so nice and knowing I was visiting from out of state, had offered for a taste test of another item. Maybe the coldness numbed my stomach (or brain), as I've turned her down.

The new banana pudding bar at the UWS location of Magnolia Bakery is pretty close to divine. Flavors include caramel brownie, cookies and cream, red velvet and chocolate hazelnut. We tried the chocolate hazelnut and it was absolutely delicious. I didn't think the Magnolia Bakery banana pudding could be improved upon, but I was most certainly wrong.

I tried the famous banana pudding and I was not expecting much, but I understand the hype now. I don't typically eat banana pudding, so I I was surprised to have loved the perfectly fluffy and sweetened cream that was not overly sweetened with the perfect amount of stiffness mixed in with sliced bananas and a type of waffers. The waffer maintained it's inner crunch texture or at least the batch I got. I would DEF order it again.

An ok bakery. The cupcake was moist and had a nice chocolate flavor but was too sweet. The banana pudding was good but nothing special. Service was only ok.

There was a bit of a line, but it moved pretty quickly. I am boring, so I just ordered the plain vanilla cupcake, but it was just perfect. It was fresh and the cake itself was wonderful. We had a big party--everyone was happy, but particularly happy with the cookie dough and red velvet. Definitely worth a visit.

I woke up at…read more5pm and headed straight here from Queens and chose this place over 4 others close by in the area. I hadn't been here in years so when I pulled up I took a step back to take it all in, the cutesy interior which was clean and not too brightly lit. I checked out the cake prices and flavors and when I was sure of what I wanted I stepped up to the counter and began to take pictures bc there were like 4 attendants and I waited for one to engage with me. A young man did he said are you ready to order I said yes and told him I wanted a strawberry shortcake slice $10 and a Brooklyn black out slice (also $10 and the actual reason I came). When he was boxing I took pictures and thought oh maybe I should switch to the hostess slice (out loud). Another attendant said sure, but then the first one pulled up with the boxes and I was like ok I'll just get a cupcake separate. Why I walk back to the cupcakes to choose and the young man starts helping someone new and I look him in the eye he then rushes over but again starts taking another customer. They were 3 customers in the store in total including me so why he didn't want to provide me service I do not know. But it made me so upset I was like wow am I really gonna spend this much money and this guy is being rude. I had to now get in line behind the 2 other patrons that came in after me. The attendant who rung me up tried to empathize and offered me a free $1 candle- it came from a cup of candle in front of the register and when he placed it on top of the box it rolled onto the counter and I said how many ppl touched that?? It's going in a cake someone is going to eat. I declined the candle, paid and probably will never return. Strawberry shortcake slice was a 6/10 tasted old Hostess cupcake 10/10 I inhaled it no crumbs Brooklyn blackout cake 15/10 moist, thick chocolate perfect. Now I'll tell you right now the birthday cake I got my sister was worth the $25 and change I paid for it. She liked it, I liked it, it made her happy- but the service made me frown I really didn't like it. Total rating 3.5

While I'm not the biggest cupcake fan, they have a nice selection of cakes, bars, and other things for pretty reasonable prices, especially in Midtown. The staff are also friendly. The most recent time, I got a Ube Buttercake Bar for $4.25, or something very similar. As per the name, it is made with ube, or purple yam, and it has a slight purplish hue. It was just a bit rich, had a soft texture inside, and had a very mild ube flavor with a bit of vanilla. The dessert was decent, but not strong enough of a ube flavor for me to buy it again. Much better was the Brookie I got the first time for $4.50 or so, listed as a blend of their Ooey Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar and Fudge Brownie. I was happy that the chocolate chip part was dark chocolate, and it wasn't overly sweet. Otherwise, it had a nice mix of textures, with some soft and crunchier parts. I liked it a lot more. The prices here are decent enough, and the quality isn't that bad. It's not a place I would go out of my way to go to, but it's nice to be nearby if I want to pick up a snack or something similar. I would probably try a slice of cake, or another bar such as their lemon or dream, next time.

A recent order had clear issues that should never have happened, and the way it was handled afterward made it worse. I reached out directly to give them a chance to address it and never received any response. Seeing similar complaints in other reviews makes it obvious this isn't a one-off and they just don't care. It's really sad to see a business operate this way. After many years as a customer, I'll now have to take my business elsewhere.
