Today there was a run taking place in Dewey Beach. There were a lot of dogs. Like, a lot. It was super rad. My wife and I made our regular morning walk to Baked to get breakfast, not thinking how ridiculously slammed they'd be. It was nuts. down on vacation with family and tried a few coffee shops and this was was just okay. the location is super convenient which i liked and they had a very large variety of food and drinks. Not sure why Baked is rated number 1 in Dewey. They need a better work flow, as it takes a long time to get your order. I asked the man running the register where the bagels are from and he said he didn't know. They are definitely store bought. If you are looking for a real egg sandwich, don't order it here. Sorry but i have tried to support them over the time they have been opened and still does not impress me in any way.....overpriced, awkward, food is not fresh at all, and they will try to sell you on some air and walking space if that was even possible. I ordered a latte and it ended up being just watered down iced coffee with some almond milk. The other individuals I was with ordered caramel macchiatos (also watered down) and a red eye. The red eye was literally just a shot of coffee in the bottom and I'm not even sure there was espresso in any of our espresso based drinks. The sandwiches were decent. The employees all looked absolutely miserable and we're definitely not pleasant by any stretch. I left felling very uneasy because of the attitudes of both the owner and the employees. Definitely a terrible waste of $16. Terrible. Terrible. I swiped my card for a purchase of 25$. What did I order? Two bagels and a small coffee... Not a huge deal. Pretty expensive but I guess if the food was good I could deal with. I begin to wait for my food. 15 minutes goes by. I was starting to think it was a bit long for two bagels but it wasn't a big deal at that point. 30 minutes later I'm starting to get annoyed but I'm not a confrontational person so I continue to wait politely. At the point that I had been waiting for an hour, my plans for the rest of the day were in jeopardy so I nicely ask if I can have a refund so that I can just cut my losses and leave. Miraculously, my bagels were somehow done 5 minutes after I had asked for a refund. With no apology from the staff about the wait I left with my bagels. I opened my food once I got to the car and was astonished. The bagels looked like they had been slapped together during the 5 minutes between when I had asked for a refund and when i received them. In the establishment's defense, I'm sure they didn't taste terrible but I didn't even want to try them... not for an hour and a half wait and 25$ out of my wallet. I foolishly expected some kind of positive customer service when I walked back in. I received nothing of the sort. The employees were rude and unaccommodating. All I wanted was my money back and to be able to return the food they threw together in 5 minutes. I can not reiterate enough that it was TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS! If you are someone who likes good food, avoid this resturaunt at all costs. However, if you are someone who enjoys overpriced food, rude employees, and taking hours out of your day for terrible experiences this is the place for you! Greyhounds reach the beach weekend and a Breast Cancer fundraiser 5k. 10/10/15 I ordered a sweet ice coffee thingy, wanting a Carmel ice coffee, mocha, coffee drink. They don't use a sweetened chocolate, but a bitter unsweetened chocolate. I got a hot black coffee too to add to the iced coffee, because I heard my cup being filled with ice. The hot black was better than the iced. Great fast service and beautiful dessert/pastry case. A nice coffee shop in Busy Dewey Beach! 10/11/15 return for coffee, I just got a hot cup. And spotted a quiche it was said to be spinach, feta and ham. The guy had it cut and packaged and a lady "helped" by changing the to go packaging from a 3 cent container to a 20cent container and adding spinach leaves and strawberry pieces. Well I don't usually complain, but I will say, she could have looked at the strawberry pieces and given me clean and Not mushy ones and a small drizzle of balsamic on the spinach as compliment to baby undressed leaves. The male clerk did fine and I would have been delighted with the small takeout container. Let your workers work for you don't micro manage. They are doing a fine job. Ordered online expecting a smooth, fast pick up. Placed order at 12:10, with ready for pickup time at 12:40. When we arrived at 12:45 we had come to find out they hadn't even started our order. Additionally there was a large line and our order was placed at the back. What is the point of ordering ahead if they don't even make it before you get there. And at least give the courtesy of making our order a priority since YOU screwed up. Even after messing up, they never apologized nor try to remedy the situation. This place shouldn't even be calling itself a coffee shop. They used a home grade espresso machine which made a watery latte. There are good home espresso machines out there but this one apparently didn't even have a steam wand and it takes some skill to produce a good cup from one. So instead of properly steaming my coffee they used a milk frother which produced lukewarm milk with a weird texture. I took a sip of my lukewarm concoction and couldn't even finish it. Despite their mediocre equipment they still charged premium prices. Now on to the bakery. They had a large selection of baked goods but it was all displayed openly on the counter. No covering at all. There were only iced lattes available; the lattes clearly had coffee in them, not espresso; and the London fog we bought came out iced, as well. If the espresso machine was down, don't charge the same price and, instead, tell us you'll be using coffee. They, however, did not allude to whether or not the machine was down. The regular coffee is not bold and mine was not even warm. Thr bagels are ok, but we stayed at the wonderful Atlantic View and they already provided the same bagels for free, not as a $10 sandwich. The espresso drinks at this place are AWFUL. I paid $14 for two iced almond milk lattes, and they tasted like half drip coffee, and a mix of water and almond milk. It was just BAD. I could not finish it. There was an actual child working at the register (like 12 or 13 yrs old, it appears to be a family owned business). A couple days later I went back and tried a white mocha, because I as desperate for caffeine and I thought maybe the kid just got my order wrong the first time around because he was kind of crabby and obviously didn't want to be there. Well, his attitude wasn't any better the second time around and neither was the coffee, so I don't think it was a mistake on his part, they just make bad coffee. When my second drink was also terrible I looked around and they do not appear to have an espresso machine! Just a big vat/dispenser that says espresso on it. They do have great pastries, which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1, but if you want espresso, do yourself a favor and make the trip into Rehoboth. read more

Me and my family were so excited to return to Baked this morning, one of our favorite breakfast spots, best known for their fresh "baked" pastries. Today was a disappointing experience however. We ordered 2 egg sandwiches (fake eggs - but the rest was fine), a donut (perfection), a smoothie (outstanding) and a simple cinnamon raisin bagel toasted,plain. Upon my family finishing their meal, the toasted bagel was still not out, even after several inquiries. The line cook with the baseball hat, Mike, I believe, abruptly told me it was next and on the last ticket which made no sense given all other items were complete and at this point eaten. Line cook Mike showed no concern, remorse, nor any level of customer service what so ever. He grunted, mine is next. I asked where the jelly was in preparations to getting my bagel and he said we don't have jelly - only strawberry which is in the back??? That's jelly, isn't it? Upon giving it to me harshly, it had cream cheese on it, and I ordered it plain. He continued to argue with me that I was someone else (Erica) when giving me the wrong order. Ultimately he said "FINE!...give me 2 minutes". In the mean time, the nice girls at the front, gave me some strawberry jelly. When the bagel was finished, he tossed the bagel, wrapped, of course, on top of the coffee machine and said in a disgruntled tone, "here!". Needless to say, this is not a very nice way to treat a customer. The cashier did express remorse for potentially not adding my order to the ticket. The reality is that I didn't mind the mishap at all. We are on vacation and very relaxed and I understand that sometimes mistakes happen. The line cook however was unnecessarily disrespectful. The small side of an broccoli slaw tasted as if it had gone bad and made the cabbage, dressing and all, taste bitter.
