Sometimes it smells really good when you pass by because they are baking bread. I've stopped in probably once before and left without buying anything (because low carb), but the other day my bf and I were famished and headed to greenwood cemetery for a tour and this is the closest spot to the entrance to grab a bite to eat. I have to say the cake was very tempting, and they had some paninis, salads, and sandwiches for those looking for a bit more substance, but I ended up getting the spinach pastry. It was just okay - a little too buttery for my taste and very little for $3. Not chomping at the bit to return. read more

I honestly came here bc I like the name and was craving something sweet! PASTRIES - Big ol' donuts are a steal at $1.75 and came out pillowy as I like! Sticky buns and cinnamon rolls looked good for ~$4. Cupcakes were plenty but looked a bit dry (maybe that's why it was buy 3 get one free). BREAD - This is really why people come. Looked good, fresh, and with reasonable prices. DEALS - The yelp deal for a free bagel is not honored here. Instead, if you buy a coffee you'll get a free pastry of your choice (no yelp check in needed). This is my favorite lunch spot! If you like roast beef, they make a roast beef sandwich second to none. I understand the roast beef is made fresh daily, and not a pre-made lump of meat. I've only been here once, so for now, this spot is quite good. Lately, I've been trying bread from all these nearby Italian bakery spots. A while back, on the bus(B63) passing by, I noticed this huge storefront across from the cemetery. I looked up the name on Yelp and wanted to give it a try but never got my butt in. Also, I've notice their Baked In Brooklyn trucks driving around in my neighborhood. I finally decided to drop in, since I've been doing my mini bread tour..lol Their loaves of bread, Italian, I'm assuming???(they should really label it), they're 1.5 times bigger than the normal loaves sold in other bakeries, for $2.50, it seems like a good deal. I also tried their coconut cake. It was realllllllly good. Moist and not too sweet. I came in on Sunday morning, around 10:30am, and it was a steady stream of customers, the place was at a constant fullness of people buying items. I didn't know how it worked, but the cashier told me that I grab my own bread while using the wax paper and sleeves of bags available by the counter. I was sort of afraid that I was going to drop some bread...my anxiety acting up..lol Overall, this place might neeed a slight improvement, maybe labeling and putting price signs by the product rather than having a menu board with the written prices according to item. Also, they should probably improve their food pick-up system. They would have one of the cashier girls give the customer their food. I heard one person receive someone else's food order. The bread and pastries are great but catering/ordering is a sh*t show. The staff have messed up my order THREE times. I would call a few days before to place a order and when I showed up to get my order, they would either tell me that 1) they never got the order or 2) they got the order but the production people did not know so I would have to wait. 2 weekends ago, I called to make another order. I wanted to make sure the staff got my order right this time. So I called 2 days before to make sure my order was in and that nothing would go wrong this time. I was assured that my order was in and that I wouldn't have any issues. Low and behold........I arrived 2 days later to pick up my order scheduled for 9AM. I arrived at 9:30 and was told that only 6 loaves were ready and I would have to wait 30 minutes for the rest. I waited 30 minutes just to be told that they were too hot to be cut. I was so incredibly upset so I left and had someone else come pick them up. I was supposed to be at a market selling sandwiches at 10AM and I wasn't able to sell because I didn't have any of my bread. Boy, am I spoiled to live so close to this joint. I always order bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese on a lightly toasted everything bagel to-go. The cheese is the real deal. If you order a large cappuccino or latte (which I normally also get), you can get a free pastry, which I never pass up. I mean, I am in a bakery so why not? I love Baked in Brooklyn! The little cupcakes are my fave for sweets, I especially love the mixed chocolate and vanilla ones and I like how the icing is not too sweet and the cake part is also sweet enough but not overly sweet like some cupcakes that taste like sugar. Their chocolate cakes and cupcakes remind me of old-school Hostess cupcakes minus all the processed stuff. I also love their honey wheat bread for sandwiches/everyday use. Very little sitting on the indoor, perhaps 2-3 chairs but a great place to stop and get snacks and coffee across from Greenwood cemetery. The cemetery says you are not allowed to picnic but general snacks and beverages are ok. We stopped by here before a Greenwood cemetery tour and it was great to be able to get something to eat and drink for the tour. They have giant donuts that look like bundt cakes that look delicious. The prices are decent and a drip coffee or tea is only $1.75. Note, they do not have bathrooms! However, greenwood cemetery up the slope has public bathrooms. read more

After our tour of Greenwood cemetery, we were overcome with the smells of baked goods right across the street from Baked in Brooklyn. Like zombies, we jaywalked and headed over to see what makes this place so special. Wham! You're immediately wacked in the face with loaves of bread, rolls, and other baked goods for sale. Although the space is small for the store part of the establishment, it was pretty cool to see the bakers in their element rolling, kneading, and deeply involved in their craft. We ended up getting their homemade pop tarts - strawberry and blueberry - and two bags of chips. One was sriracha flat crisps and the other was sea salt pita chips. The strawberry was by far the favorite and it was an even tie on the chips; mine was the sriracha. One star was removed for the unenthusiastic cashier, who really didn't want to try to further entice us with other possible baked treat choices. I get it - working on a Saturday on a sunny afternoon sucks, but it would've made the experience a little more worthwhile. We'll be back to try some rolls one day. read more

This place has gone from a really great outlet with a good variety of inexpensive baked goods, to just another boutique bakery. Not so long ago, the main shelf when you first walked in was stocked full of all sorts of bags of rolls, and sliced loaves of bread and other things for a buck. NOW that shelf has individual items like ONE ROLL for 75c! Way too many frou-frou cupcakes and things and prepared food. Used to be able to get a bag of house-made croutons for a buck, now they no longer even make them. It was discovered, it got hip, and they took advantage, plain and simple. I happened to walk by Baked in Brooklyn at the most opportunistic time. The smell of baking bread seamlessly surrounds the place, and is impossibly intoxicating. The storefront is simple yet just--almost as if it is encouraging you not to judge a book by its cover, but by the scent of baking bread emanating through the open air and into the barren streets. I inhaled the smell of bread hungrily and the aroma was so vibrant, I could almost taste it--caramelizing sugar from shriveling raisins dotting a heap of dough as it sits and swells in a hot oven. I don't think I've ever smelled anything so beautiful in my life. My companions and I lost focus on whatever destination we had in mind and entered the bakery in a drunken aromatic haze. The inside was small but behind the glass walls, you can watch a bread-making paradise. Bakers folding and shaping dough, while countless shelves of nearly ready dough sit behind them, rising excitedly. Regretfully full from our lunch, we sought out a modest bag of Apricot thumbprint cookies for $4. How guilty I would have felt if we had left without a memento of this experience. The cookie? Divine, buttery, and sweetly enjoyed under the heavy sun on our backs as we continued our journey through West Brooklyn. read more

Directly across the street from Green-Wood, this is my go-to spot for grabbing an iced coffee or a snack before or after wandering around the cemetery. The prices are extremely low given how fresh everything is and there are always great deals on something (ex: buy three cupcakes and get one free, free pastries when you buy a latte, etc.). Really good hole in the wall bakery (unexpected of the Sunset Park borderline Park Slope neighborhood) that serves bread, pastries, dessert, sandwiches, and salads for a affordable price. I've personally only tried the sandwiches and the pita chips they make here and those are delicant. I can only imagine by walking into the store and smelling the aromatic scents of everything else they have- how delicious the other menu items must be. From what I remember, I've gotten the steak wrap, breakfast wrap, and another sandwich. Baked is how we felt walking to their store (in the hot sun from Park Slope to Greenwood) and disappointed is how we felt leaving the store. Sunday morning 11AM Prime reason: Disorganized Service. Understandably overpriced but sloppy service is unacceptable. 3 orders of the same breakfast, sausage, egg and cheese on sourdough bread and an iced coffee. It was jammed inside, 30 minutes standing around while they had everything ready, a gabby group from behind the counter equals crappy service and longer waits. We had to get their attention between their talking to just turn around and hand over the meals. The iced coffee took longer. We bought a sourdough loaf in addition to the breakfast, now the breakfast on sourdough bread was okay as we ate it within the hour, the coffee was also average, but the sourdough bread that I had used for sandwiches tastes like Wonder Bread and probably just as bad. This was 1 day later. I wont speculate on their ingredients but I could have gotten the same bread from anywhere like Wholefoods. I dont see any differentiation at Baked in Brooklyn except for bad service and there are a lot of bakeries around town with great service and most probably tastier bread. If you're baked, you'll enjoy it; if you have taste, go elsewhere. read more

It seems like a clean place but they don't have anything with custard . It's a bread place with some cooies. A large coffee is $2.75. I was upset that when I checked and it said I would get a free bagel with cream cheese with the purchase of a large coffee but the counter guy said that that offer is only until 3pm. I was there at 7pm There is a small area with mozzarella. And prosutto but it's expensive. Not worth wasting your money. The coffee was okay. My day is not fulfilled unless I walk out of a bakery smelling like baked goods! Well-- at baked in Brooklyn, you can follow your nose, even at 4 blocks away to this bakery. When I walked in, I immediately noticed the $1 baked goods shelf. It's an on-going thing, so why not pick up your daily baked goods here? It's cheap, delicious, and baked daily. This shelf includes anything from bagels, ciabattas, to wraps- and more. (However- the other side of the rack was giant sized loaves of bread, these were $4+) A small coffee can cost you $1.75 here which isn't bad. They also have sweets which are baked upstairs- there were cupcakes, brownies, cookies, you name it! I was quite happy when I came across these. They also have food specials here- which I didn't get to try.. Will be back to try it for sure :) Everyone that worked there was extremely helpful and happy to answer my questions. I was surprised because other coffee shops/bakeries I've been too, people haven't been the happiest. I was glad to walk in and be greeted with smiling faces here. I was in the neighborhood after eating some great tacos. I had a sweet tooth so i yelped a bakery near by. Baked in Brooklyn popped out so my bf & i went to check it out. The front of the store is so welcoming. I got a large hot coffee & a tiramisu. My bf got a tart dessert. We were looking around but by the looks of it many things were already sold out. Like the bagels and bread. Minus one star for that :( if you're going to be open this late might as well have a bit more out to sell. Other then that everything went good. Large latte for a free pastry! Their latte is cheap compare to coffee shops. $4 for a large size and you get a free pastry which is a very great deal! I got chocolate croissant for free and it was delicious. The croissant was moist, not dry at all. I usually eat the stuff inside and not the croissant, but I finished the whole croissant! For the Bib bagel, it was very delicious and filling. The chipotle sauce inside was a little spicy but overall it was flavourful with the toppings inside (egg white, cheese, sausage). You can also sub the bagel to wraps or breads. Staffs were friendly. I'd come back again. read more

From the delicious smell of baking bread wafting towards the cemetery, I could tell this place would be good. Despite the bare look, it isn't hipster at all with an awesome selection of bread, pastries, olives, cheese, and cured meats at reasonable prices. They don't really write the prices down anywhere so I had to ask an employee who was super nice and helpful and even pointed out the $1 shelf of rolls that I'd completely overlooked! Plus they were buy one get one free! 2 packs of focaccia herb rolls for $1 is quite a bargain in my book. And proves that everything really is baked fresh every day. Whole loaves of bread ran from $2-$4--quite good for freshly baked bread. Donuts looked delicious and were only $1.25. Too bad I live so far from here or I'd make it a regular haunt. read more

They had a bunch of pastries and breads all over the store but nothing was labeled so you either have to ask what everything is or just guess and try it. They all had a bunch of empty trays so I assume it's better to come a couple hours after they open when everything is ready. I didn't know what to get cause they have a lot of options so I just picked up a cinnamon bun and a couple mini cheese Danishes. Awesome place to grab breakfast and baked goods in Brooklyn! On a recent trip to NYC, we stayed in Brooklyn and drove by this place several times. The name and store front attracted us and we just had to try it out. The place itself is small but there is limited seating inside and outside. They make everything on site and you can even view part of the kitchen inside the store. There's a big variety of breads, bagels, pastries, sandwiches, and coffee. I went with the lox and cream cheese bagel and small coffee. Because of the coffee, they offered one free pastry so we chose the giant cinnamon roll. The lox bagel was huge and kept me full for several hours afterwards. I really think two people could've shared one. The coffee and cinnamon roll were good as well. Overall, a great affordable place for breakfast or snacks. Also, it was very easy to find in Brooklyn, off of a major road near Sunset Park. read more

This bakery is awesome! Everything is baked fresh daily! The breakfast sandwiches are sooo good! They really put a ton of food in a bacon egg and cheese bagel. Sometimes I go to other bagel spots and get a breakfast sandwich and they skimp on the bacon and eggs but not here! The prices are good and the coffee is good! It's clean inside and has a few stool seats around the windows and a bench and tables outside. The counters are marble and the walls are white subway tiles. There's a big glass window where you can see employees making fresh baked goods which is cool. The menu is easy to read and they make your food quick. The staff is friendly. The bakery is also in a good location. I love this place and go here whenever I visit my cousin in Brooklyn. I can't think of anything negative to say! read more

TIP: DO NOT BUY GIFT CARDS FROM HERE!!!! We were given a GC, but they eventually switched out their hardware. They offered me a replacement GC with my balance, which was a piece of paper with an amount. They said I had to use the entire balance in one visit, which wasn't the case with the old card, and it's really hard to eat $30 worth of bread in two days.. I though why couldn't they just deduct the amount and cross off/revise the total or just write out a new GC? They said they would, but next time I went in they were pretty rude and said "look, we remember you, and we made an exception for you but now you have to use the whole gift card amount". I was a little shocked at her curt behavior so hopefully she was just stressed or tired that day. We left without getting anything and waited for a day where we can eat $20 worth of baguettes :/ So, definitely don't buy any gift cards for anyone unless they've changed their policy. Also their gift cards look bad too, just a shoddy piece of paper with a handwritten amount vs a plastic gift card they used to have, so if you care about presentation keep this in mind.
