I only go to the Bakersfield Harley Dealership when I am in a pinch. They have proved time and time again to not know the meaning of customer service in the parts and service departments. The girls in the clothing area have been very nice and helpful but that is only a very small part of why I would go there. I need and want parts for my Harley. Thank God for other motorcycle shops in town, online, and in surrounding areas. I find very little use for the Bakersfield Harley Dealership, they fall pitifully short when it comes to customer service. Maybe it is because I am female and they feel I have no business in the parts and service departments, oh well their loss. One example of my customer service experience. This weekend I purchased the 3 gaskets I needed for my front Rocker cover assembly (I have the service book for my bike) I asked them if they knew what the torque was on the bolts for reassemblely. Parts couldn't tell me and sent me to service. I went to service and asked. The response I got from service was they didn't share that information with customers. They had paid 30k to go to school to learn that, if they told me they would be liable (as I am sure I am too stupid to be able to do that properly) and the rest of the stuff I didn't hear as I walked out. I went home opened my book (I only wanted to double check and confirm with them as I do with Chevy or Ford when purchasing parts from them) for a 2008 XLC 883 Sportster the torque is 22 lbs as listed in the book I bought from HARLEY! Yeah information I paid $60.00 for and the manufacturer doesn't feel they would be liable to give spec's to the customer. What a great experience from start to finish. Drove down from Fresno to purchase our first Harley. Mark was awesome had some funny stories and kept us laughing through the whole process. The rest of the staff and patrons were also super friendly and welcoming. It is very apparent that this is more than a Harley dealership it is a place for Harley enthusiasts to come enjoy a cup of coffee and donut and share a common bond over a quality product. Well worth the almost two hour drive and we would do it again especially if Mark is still around! read more

GREAT PLACE!! Bought my ORANGE Harley XL1200R from them...IT'S MY DREAM BIKE....it looks like a Dirt Track racer. I was referred they by my boss Greg at Camacho Auto Sales in Palmdale 661-459-3334 who bought his Harley there. In turn I had my coworker Dano also known as "RUB" go see them, RUB bought a Soft Tail. The owner Scott Irvin came over and introduced him self thanking me for my business and gave me a cool "T" shirt and a bell. I found out the bell is to ward off the Gremlins that hide in the cracks of the road. Love going to Harley-Davidson in Bakersfield, the sales people are always so friendly and they are so helpful and knowledgeable with questions I have being a first time rider. I highly recommend going and asking for Donavan Anderson every question I had from the bike to the helmet he knew the answer and was able to help me get what I needed so I was safe when I pick up my bike after the classes he was able to tell me about so I could get my license to drive a motorcycle. I was asked to return in 2 weeks so that I could do a test drive. When I showed up in full gear and explain that I was a cash customer. I was shuffled around to three different sales people after three hours I finally said can you do that test drive. The guy that told me to come back in 2 weeks then asked me to do a credit check I said I don't need a credit check and paying cash then he hands me a driving school certificate and I asked him what's this or do you want me to take a driving test at a school. He said that they had a guy and it said he knew how to ride a motorcycle and couldn't put it in first gear. I'm starting to think this guy doesn't want to let me test ride a Harley and since I have all 3 to get the test drive and thus far none has I guess I must not be the guy who would benefit from being a Harley owner and in the club therefore by their actions it's not my choice I can only assume that this is fascist salesmanship. I figured I better go to another dealership and take out the victories and when I showed up there I noticed they had a bunch of used Harleys for sale now I didn't see a bunch of Victories at the Harley shop so maybe victories are a step up from Harley I did sit on a couple of them and they really felt comfortable. Will have to take out two more victories see about a test ride and if I get one I may just go home with 1 later Harley. P. S. I thought it was odd that they tried to get me to buy a motorcycle before test driving it because they said if I didn't like the bike I couldn't return it I have to sell it back to them and that means losing at least 20%. Went in to buy grips for my bike while on a trip for work. First HD store I've walked into between Texas and California that doesn't offer a military discount. I can't even begin to express the disappointment. I will never do business with this store on principle alone. read more

Superb service department. On the road and had a battery problem. Squeezed me in with great attitude. Paul, service writer, was stellar! Spent an hour shopping in motor clothes while waiting on the service. Singularly unimpressive staff - not interested in helping unless we asked...and had to ask 4 times for help. We were clearly a bother to them chatting and dressing the mannequin. Crap motor clothes staff that wouldn't know customer service if it sat down beside them. read more

The wife and I started with BHD when the current owners were just taking over, and the dealership was a hole-in-the-wall place on 18th Street, in 2005. We each ride, and over the years we have purchased several new Harleys from Scott and Tim (the owners). Every year, they improve in customer service. Last year, we were headed to the coast. A dog ran out of a field to chase me, and took my wife down at 55 mph. As soon as I had emergency responders in route, I called BHD and asked for the owner on duty. Scott answered, and I told him I needed them to come get the wreckage. He told me they'd get right on it, and they did. The guys were 10 minutes behind the ambulance, and took charge of her bike. They dealt directly with the insurance adjuster, and made sure everything was documented. GEICO was very fair, and totaled the 2010 Street Glide. By the time the wife was ready to ride again, they had her 2016 Street Glide Special all set up - lowered, CB module installed, and all her extras installed. It IS a rather laid-back place - if you just want to walk around and look, they won't bother you. If you need help, ask anyone there - from the Motorclothes girls to the office staff - and they will get you help ASAP. If you are in a hurry, tell them - they will help. If you are not happy, speak to Ben in Parts, Scott (owner), Tim (owner), or the service manager Don. They want you to be happy. The salesmen are knowledgeable, but are HD salesmen. They preach the Mystique Of The Legendary Harley-Davidson Experience, and it can be a bit much for a newbie. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt(s). I don't recommend Harleys for inexperienced riders. Start with something lighter and much cheaper. I would not have purchased from "Tex" Thorpe, the owner until 2005 - but he had a loyal customer base. I have a long-time friend who is the General Manager of a HD dealership on the coast, and he told me he would give me a GREAT deal on my current bike - but BHD's initial offer beat his great deal by over $3k. read more

I was appalled after spending nearly 600.00 in motorsports clothing, and boots that Bakersfield Harley Davidson would not honor a military discount. Because of this alone, I will NEVER return. Which is really too bad as I was looking to buy my GF a bike. read more

I've been reading through the reviews and am bit perplexed. Over the years I've had work done on my bike, bought gear and lots of parts and other than an occasional wait I've had nothing but good from them. One year I was a day away from a vacation when my stock baffle let go in the muffler. I went to Bakersfield Harley to buy a stock muffler to find they didn't have any on hand. An older gentleman came up and asked what was up. I explained my situation and he disappeared for a few minutes retuning with a used but nice stock muffler and gave it to me telling me to enjoy my trip. More recently I needed to know if a 2010 transmission for my model bike would fit my 2006 fxdb. I walked in and was greeted by a young man in his office so I stuck my head in and explained what I needed. He took me to the parts dept. and found the guy who would know. He looked it up to the affirmative and I'm back on the road. This is the kind of over and above service that keeps me coming back. read more
