This is a super adorable mom and pop Korean bakery. When we came here to visit my boyfriend's relatives, we bought a few buns and a green tea chiffon cake. My boyfriend's mom built up a nice rapport with the lady who rang us up, and she gave us an extra bun, which was very sweet of her. I admittedly ate SO MUCH of the green tea chiffon cake even after everyone was satisfied after one slice, probably like close to half of it. It was SO GOOD. It was fluffy, soft, not-too-sweet, and had that distinct green tea flavor to it. Like chiffon fabric, it's light, airy, and lovely. Boyfriend's Korean relatives teased me about it, but his grandparents were happy to see I had a healthy appetite LOL. Walked by and was excited to see they were open! Hello Bakery House! The smell of fresh baked bread danced in the air. The various selection of sweet baked goods was amazing! The Owner was lovely and helpful. I opted for a few pieces but am promising to come back soon for more! The owner was kind and patient, informing me of the options for the shaved ice. It's a hot day, I ordered one to go. I couldn't resist, I cracked into it when we got to the car. The flavors complimenting each and every aspect of my dessert. From the tasty red bean paste to the vanilla ice cream. The small touches were appreciated form the sliced bananas, condensed milk, and grapes! Crunchy soft ice, ooooooohhh heavenly billows of cold crunchy ice. You know what won me over? As if I hadn't already hit the Jack pot! The rice drink, Sikhye!!! Yes you read that correctly, they make Sikhye in house!!! Ahhhh, well for now this will do. I shall come again soon, and buy some of that cloud soft looking Milk Bread. BEST PLACE FOR BINGSU (KOREAN SHAVED ICE 5/5) Their bingu is the BEST! Better than all those mainstream bingu places that pour those trendy condensed milk on top in my opinion. They know how to make it so good here. IT's so big the lid can't completely close cause they fill it to the TOP! You get shaved ice, a bunch of beans, ricecake, fruits (kiwi, banana, strawberry, anr vanilla icecream on top. I drive just to get the bingsu. I have fond memories for their bingsu. I grew up coming to this Bakery House and they don't disappoint! The owner is really nice and would make conversation with my mom. She's very friendly when I come and tries to help me pick out bread. I don't quite know what happened here. I stumbled in here to kill a little time while I was waiting for my car to finish being washed. Admittedly, I was hungry and hadn't had breakfast yet. I really didn't see anything that looked that good until I saw a giant teardrop-shaped slab of sugar-crumb-crusted goodness stuffed alternatively with layers of sweetened green mung bean and red bean paste with a white buttercream layer between them. I asked the lady behind the counter about it and she explained it. She then added that maybe if tried it, I would come back for more. Well, this is the kind of thing any salesperson would say, but it didn't faze me and there's a reason I am telling you this. My low blood sugar got the better of me and I went ahead and bought it. They wanted exactly ten dollars for it, which seemed a bit steep, but the thing was big and I figured that it would be good for an on the spot breakfast due to the protein in the bean paste filling. I could see that it was crumbly and flaky and the new jeans that I was wearing had had a burrito juice incident at Baja Fresh a few days prior that almost ruined them. So, I asked the lady for a paper plate so that I could eat it like a civilized human being on the little metal tables and chair sets they had outside. The lady's demeanor suddenly changed from a smarmy smiling saleswoman to an emotionless automaton and said she didn't have one. OK, fine, it's a tiny little bakery in a strip mall; you can't expect them to have every accoutrement. But I looked at the shelf behind the lady and I did see a stack of those plastic to-go-type pans and another stack of those round clear plastic lids for them next to it. I asked the lady if I could have one of those lids to serve as an ersatz paper plate, but she coldly and firmly said no, vaguely stating something to the effect of that they were not intended for that purpose. I was stunned. I mean, how much could one of those cost them, less than a penny??? I asked her again because it was quite clear she was not a native English speaker (and there is NOTHING wrong with that), and I wanted to be sure I was understanding her correctly. She stated flatly, "No, I am not going to give you one." Yeah, don't hold your breath on me coming back any time soon, Lady. The pastry did turn out to be rather tasty but a bit too sweet, unlike the lady behind the counter. I hate to say this, but I have encountered this kind of thing with Korean businesses before. Many people feel that they are secretly racist against everyone else. I don't know if that is true, but frankly, if you want to run a successful business in the USA, you can't be so parsimonious that you can't give someone a piece of plastic!!! read more

Bakery House, or as I call it, the Bakery Next to the Car Wash, is the perfect place to get a cup of coffee and a pastry as you while away the time between dropping off your car all dusty and picking it up all clean and shiny. The coffee is quite good, fresh and strong. The pastries are served individually wrapped and there's a wide variety to choose from. Service is friendly and helpful. Other reviewers have noted that the parking lot is dreadful; I wouldn't know. Bakery House would also be a good place to pick up a last minute gift, let's say for Mother's Day, or a housewarming present....they've got cute tea sets and china for purchase. read more

A gem of a bakery that deserves way more attention than it gets. I've visited this mom and pop bakery consistently over the years (often waiting/drooling here as my mom finished groceries at the Korean grocery market right next door), and I've always been impressed by the kind service from the ladies who work here. They always welcome everyone with a warm smile and when there are samples, urge me to take way more than is good for me. As for the pastries themselves, I would recommend being adventurous! Prices are very affordable and every pastry I've had has been delicious. You can definitely afford to take gastronomic risks here. (If you REALLY can't decide, I'd recommend the soboro, which is more of a personal favorite. It's a common Korean pastry with a sweet crumbly/crusty exterior!) Again, the ladies are incredibly sweet and friendly and will be happy to make suggestions if you ask! I also love that Bakery House is the only place in the neighborhood that sells shikhe made in-house! You can buy the individual servings or make a preorder for a bulk amount ($20). It's rare to find shikhe this good from a store. There is a parking lot (shared between the other businesses) and a minimum purchase of $10 for credit cards! read more

I just picked up a cake from here earlier this morning for a coworker's bday. Paid $32 for an 8" chocolate chiffon cake. Which isn't bad. I was in a hurry so I didn't pay too much attention to what the cake looked like (decor)...... opened it during lunch to find that there was a cherry tomato????? on top of the cake LOL not sure if it was some kinda joke or if they normally decorate their cakes with tomatoes..... other than that, it was a good cake. read more

My friend and I stopped in to get sweet treats and iced tea. To start, the shop is small, but they sale all kinds of baked goods comparable to the small bake shops in K-town. The prices here are slightly more reasonable than that of K-town. To our disappointment, our iced green tea was prepared with warm water, then iced. So we basically got iced green tea bags. For almost two bucks a pop, we could've gone to Coffee Bean and Tea up the street and purchased a larger sized iced green tea for the same price. Quite a rip off if you ask me. The bake shop also sells interesting sets of dish ware. I didn't understand it myself. Parking is just up front in the same lot as Sakana restaurant. read more

My mom loves their butter bread...as do I. It's so soft and slightly sweet. Toasting it with some butter is perfect for breakfast. I don't know how Koreans make their bread so much tastier than U.S. brands, but It's delicious. The items are limited, but most of them are really good. It's a convenient location for me...Just down the street from my house. There are other Korean Bakeries with better and bigger selections, but I come here because it's close. Make sure you get there early in the morning for their Butter Bread. That's when it's just baked and "oh so soft". If you have certain food allergies, I would be careful. They use a universal plastic package for each item which states "butter, flour, sugar....etc). It never states it has nuts even though come contains them. Calories?? The only Korean Bakery I can think of in the La Crescenta Area. This sweet Ajumma owns it and you can find a wide variety of baked Korean/Chinese/American Pastries. I recommend the Garlic bread, Pizza bread, and the blueberry muffin. Very affordable and tasty. Definitely enjoyed this mom and pop place in La Crescenta. read more

It has been so hot here in California that I was craving some nice cold freezing Patbingsu and came here to satisfy my craving. It was $7 for 1 good sized bowl that my husband and I both shared and had fresh fruit, orange sorbet and other things you usually find on a patbingsu. This is not some fancy Korean bakery like some others you can find in Glendale or Los Angeles, but the lady was very nice and we kind of like the peace and quiet while stuffing our face with this frozen goodness.
