I was looking for a healthy dinner option and found Balance Pan-Asian Grille. I really enjoyed my food here. From the menu I chose to built my own bowl which I enjoyed the most because of all of the flavors and veggies. However a word of warning the sauces can be spicy so I am glad they also added the yogurt base sauce! I also liked the milk tea and finally the nachos which were very different in taste and texture but surprisingly good. Our first food experience in Toledo. We'll be here a couple of days, so fortunately we'll have time to make some better choices. We had to place our order on a touchscreen kiosk like it was Taco Bell or something. I despise that. If I wanted to avoid human interaction, I would have stayed home. My Bride ordered a standard teriyaki chicken bowl. I got the "Thai Guy" peanut curry chicken bowl. The kids did build-your-own bowls, and got that hypersweetened tea with the little balls in. None of our food was actually served warm. Mine was warm noodles with cold ground chicken, warm peapods and matchstick carrots, covered with literally RAW jalapeño slices and sprouts. Kid 1's bowl included roasted garlic cloves - they were so cold, they must have just come out of the fridge, but they included a surprise chunk of chicken bone, so that's something, I guess. Kid 2 had gotten "seasonal potatoes." On the bright side, they were blue potatoes, which are usually delicious. But these were both ice cold AND weirdly seasoned with a spice mix that was completely at odds with their teriyaki sauce. The ballful teas were, I'm told, good. At six bucks apiece, they ought to have been! After two days in the car, we just weren't even in the mood to deal with the hassle, so we got to-go lids for our boxes (they don't, evidently, use dishes) and took our food back to the hotel. Once we ran it through the microwave, it was actually pretty tasty. The total cost for two standard bowls, two build your own bowls, and two large cups of tea was $56.03 including tax, which wasn't too bad. In Richmond I'd have paid more than twice as much in tax, but those people are crazy. TL;DR- tasty enough once microwaved, but if you like your food served above room temperature, there are a lot of other restaurants in the area, and I'd recommend trying one. read more

So quiet in there you could hear a pin drop. No ambiance music. Employees didn't say hello or acknowledge me until handing my food.. even then it was a 2-3 word interaction. Personal preference, but I despise automated ordering machines. Without human to human interaction it continually adds to the mental health crisis we've come accustom to. Order at the register, and your food is prepared behind a glass assembly line. I am deducting one star because the ability to customize (i.e. Moes) is simply missed. I had to rely on a cashier to explain the menu, rather than being able to pick and choose as I went down the line. Also, the bowl portion was incredibly tiny...I'm still hungry. The ingredients were clearly high quality, and the service was prompt. Ever since we found balance Grille we eat much better when we're on the go. It's fast food that's actually good for you. Prices are very competitive for just about any restaurant in the city of Toledo. It's actually Cheaper to eat at Balance then it is at McDonald's. The family loves Balances food because you're getting good for you nourishing food. Balance DOES NOT USE heavily processed food. And last but by no means least, you order your food in an à la cart fashion building whatever your choice is. It's a neat experience quite a place and there are about six locations in and around Toledo. I know the Toledo Summit St location is very good in the Maumee location on Dussel drive is also excellent. Don't cheat yourself, give Balance Grill a try I think you'll like it. read more

Today was opening day and as expected it was very busy. I won't knock any points off for that. I ordered the Five Spice Tacos with Chicken. On the taco was Caramelized Onion, Potato Crisps, and Carrot, topped with Scallions and local Microgreens. You get a choice of a blue corn tortilla or a flour tortilla. I chose the blue corn tortilla. I also got their Curry Cauliflower. I enjoyed both, but I really enjoyed that Curry Cauliflower! I'll be back for that! I'm addition to tacos, they also offer rice and noodle bowl all fresh made. They also have bubble tea! All the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of their menu. This was my first visit to balance and it was delicious. The Bang Bang taco were fresh and the ingredients crisp. The chicken was nice and moist. I'm glad I asked for the sauce on the side as it does deliver a bang! The creamy wontons were crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The Bang Band nachos were delicious. The purple potatoes on top were a nice contrast. My only complaint is that the frozen peach tea didn't have much peach flavor. If it had more flavor I would have given it 5 stars. read more
