The first time we tried eating there a tour bus came ahead of us and there was going to be over an hour wait, so we made reservations for the following evening. This place is such a hidden gem and it absolutely blew me away. Consistency is key and everything we ordered was perfect from the empanadas ($7.50) to the hummus ($4.50) to the penne ($17). Sometimes things converge and a place ends up blowing you away. This is what happened to us when we came here after a long day hiking and driving to Zion. The ambience of the place accented by amazing woodwork and beautiful original art, the delicious cocktails made by the friendliest bartender and the bespoke vegetarian pasta dish whipped up by the chef upon request by my friend were all good signs. The friendliness of the owner and our waiter Nico and the quality of every bite we ate (salmon is amazing) sealed the deal. This is a gem in a place where tourist traps thrive which is why we spent two of our three nights eating there. And I would go back any night if i was fortunate to live nearby. I don't know what these people giving this place 5 stars were thinking. This was a surreal dining experience. No identity whatsoever. Just a hodge podge of mediocre over priced dishes. You know you're in for a big night out when you have to pay $2 for rolls and $4.50 for a cheap garden salad. Appetizer of empanada arrives on a plate with no presentation whatsoever, Smoky Rib papardelle was just some shredded rib meat mixed in with some watered down ill-defined sauce over noodles. This was just our second time coming to this restaurant. We live locally in a nearby city and decided to have dinner with friends. The service was great from front of the house to those busing tables. Our waiter Ezra was the same person we had our first time there. He is still great, friendly, funny, and engaging as well as efficient. The food was excellent as well. I had the special for the night lobster ravioli, and everyone else had steak. One of the worst club sandwich I ever had. Bread was not toasted properly. Small amount of turkey and ham and a tiny piece (1) of bacon. No avacado which was listed on the menu. Cheese was old and bland. But by far the worst was the chopped red onion. Yikes. Who puts chopped red onions on a club sandwich? Also the steak fries were cold. I gave this new restaurant a try by a recommendation from a friend at the gym. I showed them a picture of my sandwich that weren't toasted properly and the chopped red onions and they agreed that they would've scraped off the chopped onion. They felt bad for recommendating the restaurant to me and I felt bad that I had to give them the bad review. All in all not a good experience. I guess it's great if your a tourist and hungry but you can get a better sandwich from a gas station market in Springdale near Zion National Park. read more

I had one of the best meals of my life here. The French Onion Soup was delicious - the broth was robust and deeply flavored and the "crouton" was really good puff pasty. The staff made very clear that sides could be swapped out and I had brussel sprouts in lieu of nopales. They had a wonderful sauce and pork belly and were cooked excellently. A truly delightful side. The potato came with a house-made barbecue sauce. That was a delight as well. The sauce has really smoky chili flavors, but remains bright. The beef ribs were the star of the show. They had a great crust. They were cooked perfectly, succulent and beefy. The fat had rendered into the meat wonderfully. But, more than anything their wait staff is remarkable. My ticket noted that I had been "Romanced by Cecelia." It absolutely surprises me to say, but that description was apt. She was friendly and knowledgeable. Most critically, she did the technical parts so well. For example, food came out perfectly timed. Drinks came out perfectly timed. And she made a fine dining experience feel exceptionally comfortable and homey. read more

We had a transcendent dining experience at The Balcony last night. The dry rub ribs with apple jalapeño sauce! I might turn my car around, go back to Salt Lake a day later, and have another round. Service was accommodating, the hostess had a table for us that was kinda cramped but asked her for another one and she immediately moved us to somewhere more comfortable. Beautiful views of the canyons. We shared the ribeye huge and delicious. I also liked that they have little appetizers so we could try different flavors. I had the ceviche tostada and omg it was the freshest fish I have ever eaten. I wanted to buy a whole tub and take it with me. My husband loved the empanada super flaky and delicious. Also ordered the corn cakes, they were little little pancakes so good and soft. Jess was our server she was awesome with her food recommendations and Kolob canyon recommendation it was beautiful. We had two drinks, one appetizer, one salad, one entree, one dessert and it was $170 for two people (would have been more if we each ordered food). They charge for table bread and note they add a fee for using an electronic payment. Steak and salad were bland. The best thing was the Zion Zombie drink and charcuterie board (although more expensive than average). read more
