A solid 4 star business. We dined here two nights in a row. Salads are great. First night we both ordered the arugula salad with the chicken as add-on for about 14+9. My salmon add-on was +$19. Delicious. The second night i ordered the pork chop. Priced well at $24 , but the taste was uninspiring. I also thought the accompanying brussel sprouts were undercooked and over sauced with the honey maple sauce (should have been a slight glaze). We ordered the Bolognese and ahi taco and tzatziki. All very delicious except ahi was a bit tough. Staff immediately replaced taco and gave us dessert on the house. This was 110% service. Vibe was casual and fun, nice to see cooks and help in the kitchen. read more

Ambiance: pretty outside and quirky inside. Every chair is different. Woodwork is cool. Two tops are an antique table cut in half and attached to wall. Stunning sunset. Service: outstanding! Our waiter knew menu and others passing by were nice. Food: not picky about making changes. The older man near us had a huge steak with both au gratin potatoes and their specialty fried baked potato. He had a bowl of butter and a bowl of steak sauce. Big bowls! Well, hey, he's looking pretty good for that diet and old enough for white hair. He also had drinks and tiramisu. With a rating of 4.7 stars, I was expecting a very nice dining experience. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The name Balcony One, and its location in a spectacularly beautiful area not far from Zion National Park suggests we would have pretty nice views, but wrong again. We were seated at a half moon shaped table in front of a window covered with stained, orange translucent curtains. That was not very pleasant, and due to the chairs being positioned along the arc of the half moon - we had no choice. Opening the curtains gave us a view of the parking lot, which while not great, was better than staring at stained curtains. The food was okay. I ordered ribs and they were pretty good, but nowhere near awesome. Typically ribs are served with baked beans and coleslaw, however none were options. I skipped the vegetable and chose the flash fried potato. Good choice; it was delicious! My wife had the Seared Ahi Tuna. It was very good, but portion size was surprisingly small. She almost never finishes her meal at restaurants and we almost always ask for a to-go box. She ate everything... because there just wasn't that much of it. The service was solidly okay. I do resent paying a fee to use a credit card, and that's Balcony One's practice. So, would we go back? Maybe in a pinch, but we're certainly not in a hurry to. Would I recommend Balcony One to others? No. I take my recommendations seriously, and recommending something is putting my stamp of approval on it. I can't do it. read more

One of the best meals I've ever had. Really. My wife and I have a running joke about asking a restaurant to put a framed photo of something at our table. The restaurants that DO play along get serious street cred. Balcony One deliver again! Plus the owner made her rounds welcoming people to their restaurant. Ok. The food: Bone in bacon, spinach salad with bacon jam vinaigrette, spanakopita, ahi tartar and shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. Mind blown. And then there's the flourless torte. Normally I hate these things; a boring excuse for a dessert. Theirs on the other hand was so good (and huge!) I barely brought home any for the next day. There's a swanky cocktail bar if that's your vibe or a band venue outside for something more blues / country. My hubby and I stopped by Balcony One after a hike in Zion and on our way to an air b&b about an hour away from here and we had a great time. Our waitress, Suzette, was very friendly and accommodating. The food was well seasoned and tasty! My hubby got the NY Strip Steak with a baked potato, asparagus, and a side of Greek salad. He asked for medium rare and it did come a little more rare than he would have liked. But they took it back recooked it and it was perfect. I got the seared Ahi Tuna with pea purée and artichoke with fried onions and it was really delicious! We also got the flourless chocolate cake. Not too sweet, fudgey-like consistency, with fresh strawberries and a strawberry sauce. Nice way to end our meal. Ambiance was cozy -- its got that southwestern vibe with Utah decor. Balcony One is our favorite restaurant when visiting Zion. Their food and service are unmatched. Suzette is the sweetest, and we've loved everything we ordered. I recommend the appetizer trio, empanadas, spanakopita, French onion soup, Caesar salad, Greek salad, penne bolognese, Santa Fe salad, and linguine. Honestly, the best empanadas I've ever had. The only drawback was a chair I sunk into and was too worn, but with one request they changed it right out. I'll start out with the positive. Service was great. Our waiter was very personable and friendly. Food was good. Not exceptional but good. For the appetizer we had a special item that was very good. It was a flaky pastry stuffed with spinach and feta cheese. Entree we had the Prime Filet covered in blu cheese. It was good. Not the best but very good. For dessert we had the cheesecake. It was ok. Now for the not so fun part. I don't know if I ever been to a place that charges for dinner rolls. This place does. The appetizer was brought out with a hair on the plate. I let the server know and he took it back. He was good about it but at a place with these prices it's not something that should happen. He got the manager to remove the item off our bill and gave us a free dessert, which was very generous of them. The steak was good but very pricey. I'm talking like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse kinda expensive. For that price it wasn't up to par. Don't get me wrong, it was good but not exceptional. My favorite steakhouse in St. George is still Anasazi. The cheesecake was the wrong consistency. It was more like a cake and not creamy. I shouldn't complain because we got it free. Market price for a steak?! My husbands steak was way over priced. I ordered the salmon and I was delicious! However, it did not have balsamic glaze as described in the menu. I've been a few times, each time service was good, atmosphere casual, food was delicious, unfortunately last time, all 3 of us in our party shared appetizers and a full meal, and we all got food poisoning! Ruining my only out of town guests' visit, as we were unable to go on our planned trip to Bryce,and spent the last two days of her trip really sick. She was able to contact the owner, who said they were having a full inspection of the place the following Monday(over a week later), said no employees or other guests complained about getting sick. but this was the only place all 3 of us went, and all got sick at the same time. we were never offered a refund, or anything else. That was the last we heard from them. Sad because their food is good, but you can't deny us all getting ill at the same time after eating there. read more
