The manager Katie made sure to check on us, even though we could tell she was working hard alongside her team. I was at this establishment for a friend's birthday, I tried to order appetizers and our server ignored me and walked away, both my hands were waving in the air. When it came to ordering food, I ordered the same as the person next to me a medium rare filet mignon, except instead of mash I wanted smashed potatoes, when everyone was served, she brought me a share plate. I had asked her where my food was, she made up an excuse and put the order in, within 8 min my steak was out. She was an older lady who said her kids were out of the house and she needs to feed her dogs, too busy flirting with two of the guys at the end of our table than to pay attention to the rest of the party. The world food tour duo made its first visit to Bali Oceanfront. It took a while to find a parking space; we circled most of the garage twice before finding a corner stall on the 4th floor. Whew, I needed a drink after that escapade. It's one of the reasons I don't like coming to the Hilton; it's always super busy and that garage, like most others for hotels in Waikiki, features tight stalls and a mix of straight and angled parking. We were seated at a very nice table adjacent to the beach. Ginger was our server. I perused the wine book and selected a 2014 Blackbird Vineyards Arise, a blend of 38% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc. Ginger successfully extracted a fragile cork and we were treated to the aromas of black fruit and hints of licorice ... A Bordeaux-inspired wine from Napa. We started with Bali Bacon, two thick pieces of pork belly with crisped garlic and shallots, pickled onion, cucumber, daikon and a wonderful Aji Amarillo sauce ... We asked for more sauce! The other appetizer was Roasted Bone Marrow Canoe ... A large and deep bone with unctuous and flavorful marrow, topped with caramelized onions, garlic chimichurri and served with Arugula and sourdough crisps. What a great start to a meal! We selected the Braised Osso Bucco and the Seared Big Eye Ahi as our entrees. The large veal shank was placed over saffron risotto and accompanied by asparagus and root vegetables (carrots, parsnips) and topped with Gremolata. My ahi was served sashimi-style atop a lemon butter sauce and accompanied by truffle risotto, haricot verts and tomatoes. Visual and taste treats! Dessert was a Wailua Triple Chocolate Crunch cake and a Lilikoi (passion fruit) crème brûlée. I don't usually have dessert but I needed something sweet and the brûlée and coffee were the touches needed to top off a fine meal. What did we think? We liked our experience at Bali Oceanfront ... the food is excellent as is the service. I was surprised by the bill; it was much lower than we usually spend on one of our food adventures. Went to Bali Oceanfront for breakfast due to the convenience. Service was really good! Our server kept returning to refill our waters and coffee without us asking. He would come back to ask if we needed anything. Food on the other hand was alright. Potatoes were a bit over cooked and there were a lot of potatoes. It was too heavy to finish. When our food came out, our server was ahead and brought us ketchup, and hot sauce. The pineapple sausage was the best thing from what we ordered. It was a pricey breakfast but of course it would be considering it's part of the hotel resort. Ambiance was nice. We tried getting a seat right by the view but they were all filled. There were 6 of us. As soon as we sat down, they put down two huge containers of coffee without asking if we wanted any. My husband decided to have coffee since they sat it down. Our girls wanted to try a sip of it. When our bill came they charged us for 3 cups of coffee at $6 each. My sister was also charged for a cup of coffee and she didn't have any either. I came here for dinner with my husband and our two toddlers (2 and 4). Our waiter approached us soon after we sat down and offered us water. Once he brought the waters, we let him know we were ready to order (we always order right away when dining with our kids to avoid delays and a longer wait for food). We already had a good idea of what we wanted--lobster bisque, ribeye steak, and lobster ravioli--plus mashed potatoes and buttered pasta for the kids. We also asked whether he recommended the creamed spinach or the truffle risotto, and he mentioned the risotto was very rich, so we went with the spinach. We added a Caesar salad as well. The Caesar salad and lobster bisque arrived first. The salad dressing was made in-house, but the anchovy flavor was overpowering for me--still, I ate it. The lobster bisque was average--I've had better--but we finished it. The main reason for my 2-star review was the wait time and the quality of our entrées. It took forever for our food to arrive. I asked our waiter when it would be out, and he assured me it would be "any minute now." Ten minutes later, I followed up with the manager, who said, "We're doing our best," and that it should be out soon. Another 5-10 minutes passed before the food finally arrived. It was obvious our entrées had been sitting out for a good 10-15 minutes before they brought them to our table. Hot plate, cold food. As I cut into the ribeye to feed my toddler, I noticed it didn't even look hot. I touched it with my finger--it was barely warm. I had to wait for the waiter to return just to ask for it to be reheated. When I did, he asked if I wanted a new steak, but I declined, assuming that would take another hour. At this point, my kids were tired, hungry, and cranky. My husband's lobster ravioli was cold too--he barely touched it. To be fair, the creamed spinach was really good. The mashed potatoes, however, looked far from fluffy, and my daughter gave the pasta a thumbs down--but ate it anyway because she was so hungry. When the reheated steak finally came back, it was well-done and dry. I've never had a ribeye that dry before, and I felt bad feeding it to my kids--they had to chew it aggressively just to get through it. By then, I had promised them dessert, but I couldn't even bring myself to order it here. We left and got dessert elsewhere. For the $280 we spent, this experience was absolutely not worth it, and we will never return. If you're looking for a fine dining experience with your kids, this is NOT the place. Don't be fooled by the prices--you're paying premium rates for cheap steak. read more

We felt rushed to eat, rushed to choose our meal, and she huffed when neither of us decided to have beverages aside from water after reviewing the menu. The waitress also dropped our check WITH the desert menu, as if to say if we don't choose desert then there's the door. It was very off putting and unfortunate given that the food really was great and the dinner should have been more relaxing but she ruined the whole vibe. The restaurant was pretty much empty, so no excuses. The food was not good at all, overpriced and honestly not worth the wait. Great place to take pictures with the beautiful sunset (you can get to the balcony through the back private room). Service is good (until it gets super busy - then, good luck getting anyone's attention), and our waiter was so kind. The food is mediocre and overpriced for sure. I would have given Bali Oceanfront five stars, but immediately after our dinner, I got food poisoning. I was the only person who got sick and I believe it was from the lobster ravioli because it was only item that I ate, which everyone else did not eat. Initially, I thought they were from the Washington oysters, but my husband was perfectly fine. The overpriced dishes and the food poisoning are the two reasons why I deducted two stars. Other than that, we enjoyed the beautiful views, the yummy bread and butter, the delicious specialty steak "washugyu ribeye" (which my son and husband devoured!), sides of garlic shrimp, and the whole Kona lobsters! The potatoes au gratin were too mushy, the filet mignon was tough, the lobster ravioli gave me food poisoning, and the kids buttered tagliatelle pasta was extremely overcooked. The kids only ate the washugyu ribeye and shrimp, and refused the pasta. Honestly, Bali Oceanfront is conveniently located on the Hilton resort, so it's nice to just walk over for a meal with a view if you're staying at Hilton. The staff is nice and attentive when they're not busy, and if you avoid certain foods, you're good to go! The manager accommodated us with a last minute reservation in the sunset private room with view - I was so appreciative for that! This time, we ordered the lobster bisque (there were no pieces of lobster) and it was extremely salty. So salty, I am almost certain they seasoned it with the ocean water. I ordered the jidori chicken, which was bland. The service here is usually great where the wait staff is generally attentive. However, with this last visit, I don't know if our waiter was overwhelmed or what. The service was so slow that some of his tables got up and left without ordering because they waited so long.
