I was trying to pull up on my phone the QR menu that was glued to the table when a server came to the table and offered to assist me and take my order. It caught me by complete surprise. I ordered a Bloody Mary and Shrimp Fried Rice. The Bloody Mary was just a standard, not that great. I miss my favourite venue that was in Terminal E that had the best Sriracha Bacon Bloody Marys. I just had maybe one of the worst pho soup bowls ever. Maybe I am spoiled by all of the pho places I have been to, but this was bad, the broth was a weird taste and pretty certain was not beef broth, the single piece of beef was mostly fat and chewy, the bowl was maybe half the size of pho bowls at normal restaurants. I don't have high expectations of airport food, but this was way below expectations. Bam Bam is an Asian fusion restaurant located in Terminal C in Houston's airport. It is a nice choice for lunch or dinner if you have a bit of time. We had a longer layover and this would be our only decent meal lunch & dinner. We picked a nice table, away from the airport's craziness. The menu has many cool options, unfortunately they have no print menu-s, just QR code or screens which they change when you try to make your decision. We were tired and didn't want to order via phone since we were tired and didn't want to deal with another hassle while travelling. Talking to an actual person is better, in this case that would be a great example. My husband wanted the Pulled Pork Sandwich, they have it on their menu, but not on QR code one when you order. Since I went to the counter, a nice waitress came to our able and got the Pulled Pork Sandwich ordered for my husband. Dealing with a human is so much better, right? I opted for the Spicy Japanese Chicken Sandwich which wasn't too spicy, nice and full of flavor. Both sandwiches came with fries, my husband enjoyed his pulled pork (although his order came later than mine, not good), nicely cooked, tender and we each got a Fat Tire on draft. There is staff around if you need more condiments, forks, etc. Prices are a tad high as you'd expect in an airport, but the food is decent here. Bam Bam has pluses and minuses. For us, it was a nice getaway between flights. Calming decor, with nice touches, a decent restaurant to try of you have a layover! read more

Ugh. Really not good. Had the Smoked Brisket Bowl. It had such a weird taste, almost like eating spam with lots of salt. The brisket was cut into tiny pieces and really didn't taste like brisket. I ate a bowl of Pho here today. I am Vietnamese. I see the restaurant name written in Vietnamese so I decide to try Pho. After I finished my bowl, I asked the waiter: is the chef Vietnamese? Is the owner Vietnamese? The answer is NO to both questions. I told her the restaurant name is "very, very" Vietnamese, even with correct Vietnamese spelling but the bowl of Pho IS NOT. It is more like a dark beef stew broth, with noodles and some green leaves and onion. No taste of Pho, no bean sprout, no lemon slice serving separately. Soup is warm, not steamy hot. Meat is not sliced just a thick piece of tri-tip. I suggest the owner and the chef eat a bowl of Pho in a Vietnamese restaurant to see and taste the difference. An employee did ask me if I needed anything after I ordered, so I requested a glass of water since I didn't think to try to order that on the iPad. Well, the water never showed up, and the person who delivered my food didn't stick around long enough for me to ask. Oh well, I had my trusty water bottle. I was not super impressed with the sandwich, just due to the fact that the chicken was super thin and a bit lacking. It was 1/4" thick in most places, but it was crispy. The spicy mayo added a needed kick, and the lettuce was fresh. The fries were the saving grace! They were super hot and fresh, and perfectly fried and seasoned. The restaurant uses a QR code menu for ordering and paying only the WiFi is so terrible that it doesn't actually work. So we had to flag down a server who agreed the system didn't work, and took our order. Then you have to pay before you get your food, so they have 0 incentive to do it well or even correctly. We ordered buffalo chicken egg rolls. 18 dollars each for three egg rolls in a plastic bowl, and they weren't buffalo chicken (not even 'dark meat' as the cook/server explained.) Near as we can guess they were Philly cheese steak egg rolls. So for $75 we got those and two drinks. Food was okay (if wrong) but the place is hugely overpriced and chaotic and the ordering system is a disaster. What a waste of money - wish we had gone anywhere else. read more
