Outstanding delivery Chinese. Never actually go there to eat. Only pick up food if you are in a rush. Their Bean Curd soup is wonderful. Huge very fresh veggies, and large chunks of bean curd. Their crab rangoon is wonderful as well. And if you order over $25 you get free crab rangoon. For a main dish I recommend Mongolian Chicken. 5 stars for the value. Place is really cheap for the quantity and quality. My girlfriend and I normally just split one entree and substitute the rice for lo mein and that is more than enough for both of us. Our favorite is the jalapeno chicken (spelled halopino on their menu). Highly recommend this place if you are looking for cheap but delicious americanized chinese. Authentic does not mean the same thing as good, contrary to what all the hipsters are trying to tell us. Because this place is semi-authentic and absolutely delicious. This is my go-to Chinese restaurant. Close to my house and they deliver if I don't feel like driving. The food is very tasty and priced very well. The pork low mein is fantastic and I'm in love with their steamed dumplings. The service is fantastic! The guys in there know me and my housemates and are super nice. If we dine in, they have been nice enough to spot us on free sodas or extra crab raggoon. I'm not a fan of crab raggoon, but my housemates LOVE them from here. Not sure why this place such great reviews. I found it to be your standard, run of the mill, Chinese take out place. I ordered a chicken lunch special and it was ok but I have had better Chinese food. What I did enjoy was their house special soup. In fact I would order that for a great lunch option next time. It was full of veggies and three types of meat. Plus it came in a quart size for under $5. Had I just gotten that I would probably have given this place another star but the lack luster Kung Pao chicken ended up in the trash. It was an economical choice for lunch and the portions were great. I would go back for the soup because it's winter and soup is extra good this time of year. read more

Generous portions put it lightly- we did not even get halfway through our food but loved the variety we ordered regardless. Additionally, the woman on the phone was so charming she deserves an award. So happy to have found a decent Chinese restaurant that delivers to my house! The pork egg rolls are very good. I was also very happy with my entree: the special crispy shrimp. At first I thought the price seemed a bit high, but when I consider that there is enough food here for 2 meals and a snack I can justify paying a little more than I expected. I have not been to this place, but the phone service as well as the delivery service were great. Everyone was polite. It took almost 50 minutes from the time I called to the moment the food arrived; HOWEVER, I called at 6 PM on a weeknight on a chilly evening so I imagine that's a fairly busy time. This is my new go to place for Chinese food delivery. I love the meals and all of the sides. The food is always fresh and hot.

We have been going to Bamboo House for what seems like forever. (Long enough to see their daughter grow right before our eyes) You would think I would have written a review about them before now and I should have. What is making me write one now? Well I will tell you. Since Covid has hit we have ordered food "in" more than usual. It has been one of the most stressful and aggravating things I have ever had to deal with when it comes to getting a meal in here for the family. I called one night and ordered through Grub Hub and waited and waited (you get the picture). When I called to find out why it was an hour late I found out my order was dropped by the driver. I called Pizza Hut and placed an order and that one never saw the light of day because they didn't have a driver. They never called and told me. I found out the next day when I talked to the manager. My son Jason told me to see if Bamboo House was open. We had thought they were closed due to the virus but they were open. I ordered our food with no problems. No "snarkyness" on their part like with the other places. As usual the food was hot, fresh, packed to the top in the containers. (we always have enough left for lunch the next day). I was so thankful they were open. We have ordered from them from years. I don't have to deal with Grub Hub or any of the others. My order is always right. The food is consistently good. In all the years I have never gotten the wrong order or had anything missing. It's never been cold and I don't have to hear " just deal with it and told they cant (or wont) do anything about it." Most of all... the people are nice and so friendly which to me goes a long way in these times. Their good people and we are very please with them. They will always have our business. read more

What sets Bamboo House apart is their jalopino (i think thats how its spelled on the menu) chicken dish. Its Fried chicken chunks in a sweet sauce with onions jalapenos and maybe some black pepper. I am not sure exactly what the ingredients are but it is wonderful. Every time I get it I binge eat it until its gone and dont even regret it. Other than that they are very similar to your standard take out and delivery chinese joint. They have some tables inside but I dont see people eating at them very often. read more

WORST customer service I have received since living in Indy, which has been over two years. Broad Ripple and its surrounding area is filled with delightful, eclectic shops and an unbelievable selection of restaurants as far as the creative and fresh food meter goes. Customer service, more often than not, matches the vibe of the shops and the restaurants: delightful and fresh. Until Bamboo House. I have ordered and have had food delivered from them for over a year and typically ignore the bad customer service over the phone because I don't necessarily need friendly customer service to continue ordering from a place as long as I'm getting what I need. However, this evening, I ordered with the delivery boy over the phone, we clarified as is routine, and I had my food delivered. When I received it, it was wrong in that there was fried rice rather than steamed, and the Crab Rangoon were missing. No big deal. If I ate pork or chicken, which is what's in the fried rice, I likely would not have called back, but I don't, so I called. A woman answered. The same woman I have dealt with for over a year. I explained to her the problem and that I don't eat pork or chicken and part of the order was missing. She went to the screen and began to challenge me. "I see no order for steamed rice or Rangoon, and you didn't pay for it." I challenged her politely and told her I cannot determine what is on the screen, so that didn't really mean much to me. In the end, after she argued with me like a family member, which was shocking since this is a place of business, she said "This is your issue, and I'm not sending my driver out to you for steamed rice and Rangoon." This was shocking to me. Perhaps I would understand her argument had I ordered online or I had punched in the order, but this was not the case. Extremely rude and a horrible resolution for a customer's issue. I live in a building where I have recommended their services to many, so they have received business from me from others too. I pointed this out to her, but she did not care. The issue was mine and she couldn't help me. I will definitely recommend to my neighbors to order from the other Chinese restaurant down the road, who delivers locally and who has much better customer service. By the way, because I had no rice, I'm still hungry. Nothing worse than paying a decent amount for food and still being hungry, especially when it was their error. read more

My favorite place in the area to grab Chinese take out. Best crab rangoon in Indy--always crispy with lots of melt-y filling. Way better than the terrible crab rangoon at JS Garden across the street. Prices are reasonable--an order of crab rangoon and a spicy shrimp lunch special barely topped $8. This just isn't a place you want to eat in. There are usually boxes stacked in the dining room and it isn't particularly aesthetically appealing. Next time I go, I'm going to see if they can copy a Chinese dish from my hometown Chinese place. I'm betting they can! And that the crab rangoon will still be awesome! read more

I didn't enjoy the hot and sour soup-the flavor was a bit off. Nor the egg roll. But I loved the vegetable moo shu. The chicken curry is also pretty good. I don't think I would eat inside here, nor have I ever seen another patron inside the restaurant. I have only used it as a takeout or delivery place. I hope that they redo their hot and sour soup, though, since that is usually my favorite soup. It was hard to rate this place, since egg rolls and soup are important for a Chinese restaurant, but so far, the main dishes have been pretty good for a "takeout" place. I'll probably continue to order here on occasion, but it isn't top on my list of places. read more

Went here today because of all the good reviews.. Well the ones that left this place a good review must have never had good chinese food.. This place has horrible food.. We got the Sweet N Sour Shrimp which was soo over cooked it was like chewing rubber.. The fried dumplings were mostly dumplings and very doughy.. The crab Ragoon was very greasy and tasted like onion.. We were very disappointed and won't be going back here ever again.. Don't eat at the restaurant because the plastic forks are so cheap they bend and the only drinks they have are in a can.. read more

AWEFUL SERVICE! Food was average at best. I'm sure it would have been better hot! The lady taking our order advised delivery time would be 30 minutes. After an hour had gone by, I called to check and got nothing but attitude and a comment "We obviously can't tell when we're going to get slammed." . When I asked if they would provide any discount because it was so late, she said no and hung up on me. I had already prepaid my order on a credit card or I would have refused it when he came to the door. They were rude as hell and the food was cold. The driver showed up at 1 1/2hrs after I had ordered. Had she just been apologetic and offered me $5 off or something, I would have tried them again. Now?...no way will we ever go back! read more

If you've had Chinese food elsewhere (i.e. a major city like Chicago, LA, NY or even say Cinci) you've had way better. For Indy, it's a better than any buffet and most other places I've tried. And the bonus of delivery is huge. The food is meh. The egg drop soup was tasty, not too much salt (rare) but a tad gelatinous for my taste. The vegetable fried rice was bland, but not overcooked and the veggies were still crunchy which was nice. The sesame chicken was way too sweet, but a HUGE portion. The Egg Foo Young patties were actually quit good, but the brown sauce wasn't very thick and the had a strange bullion taste to it. Different, not terrible. They accidentally (?) threw in an order of rangoon and that was lucky, I know not to order it in the future. Very little crab creme and lots of breading which was flakey but undercooked. Finally, the chicken wings were great. Nothing chinese about them, but they were huge and breaded perfectly and a good value. Not #1 happiness but not terrible either. Will do in a pinch. read more

I'm giving Bamboo House a 1 out of 5 purely because of service. I'd like to say their food is great but because of their poor service, I never received my food. I called in a $25 order and mentioned that I would gladly throw in a big tip for the driver. I was told my order would arrive in 30-45 minutes. After 1.5 hours of waiting, I called just to check on my order. I was not at all mad or upset, but I did have plans to be elsewhere and wanted to make sure my order would arrive at my house in time. I was greeted on the telephone by an obviously overwhelmed staff member and was rudely asked to hold. When she finally got around to pick the phone up again I explained to her the situation and she speedily shouted "We don't deliver to your neighborhood." First of all, their website doesn't say anything about a delivery boundary line. Secondly, when the staff member rudely informed me that they don't deliver south of 38th I was astonished - I live on 37th! Thirdly, they didn't try in any way to contact me to let me know that I would not be receiving my meal. When I asked this lady why they hadn't bother to call, she responded with, "I'm a little busy tonight." Up until then I had kept my cool. This put me over the top. No business is going to be successful with employees like that. This was the first and last time that I have anything to do with Bamboo House. read more

Let me start by saying that I've eaten here a few times and I like the food. I've eaten in and ordered take out. Tonight's experience was surreal. My sister and I went in and were ignored by the "hostess". She went from one phone call to another without acknowledging us, and was very agitated.. She was hostile when we placed our order. While we were waiting for our food we could see her picking at something on her arm and then she walked into the kitchen - gross.. But the incredible part was when our food was ready and we asked for silverware. She started yelling at us that they don't give out silverware with takeout orders. We told her that we were dining in and she became increasingly hostile and louder stating that we hadn't said that, when we ordered.. When we told her we had, she just continued yelling. I told her," we're eating here and we need silverware" and she said if you're eating here I'll GIVE you silverware but you're not listening to what I said. At that point my sister said, "we understand and we've heard enough". We got our silverware, no napkins to be found, ate some but were too upset to finish. We took our leftovers AND silverware and left. read more
