I don't usually write reviews, but I felt really disappointed with my recent experience at Bamboo Nails. I arrived 15 minutes late for my appointment, I called to let them know and the front desk let me know they'd only have time for a regular mani-pedi instead of the service I originally booked. That was fair, and I agreed to it. However, when another customer wanted to add more services to her booking, the front desk suddenly came back to me and said they no longer had time for my mani-pedi at all. Even though I still had 45 minutes left in my original appointment slot. It felt like they were prioritizing appeasing another customer at my expense, instead of honoring the appointment I had already adjusted to. It was disrespectful and unacceptable. After pointing out that I had driven 20 minutes and had already agreed to the reduced service, they finally went ahead with my mani-pedi. This is now my third visit to Bamboo Spa, and as they say, third time's the charm. Not that the first two were bad, far from it. My first experience was a Thai massage (Sofia), and at the time, I really needed the stretching. The second time, my legs were aching, so I booked a 30-minute foot massage followed by an hour-long session with CiCi, and both were fantastic. Today's visit focused on my lower back, and although I couldn't pinpoint exactly where the pain was coming from, all I had to do was describe it. Ekaete found every knot that was causing the problem. WOW - awesome service was delivered from the moment I arrived. So nice to be warmly welcomed by the front desk managers and the nail staff was lovely. Their attention to detail was superb during my Gel Mani and regular Pedi. The cleanliness throughout is great, including the restroom. If you're looking to chat on your cell and pay a pittance, this isn't your place but if you're looking for inimitable detailed nail services in a zen like setting you'll love it. Unfortunately I'm unsure of the fabulous woman's name that took care of my nails and feet. It was either Jenny or Jenna. I came with a friend who is a longtime customer of theirs. I am so glad that he brought me to this spa. They do not provide any acrylic services but gel, of course. I honestly have not experienced my nails being meticulously manicured. The product that is used is a very good product. It's been a week and there's no chopping or dullness whatsoever. My foot massage was hands down the best I have ever received. Beautiful spa. They have both an upstairs (massages) and downstairs (mani/pedis). Was clean and spacious. Came in for a deep tissue massage and it was decent, however, I wish the sheets on the massage bed were nicer quality. It was pilled up and wasn't the best to lay on. I also wish there was a a disposable cloth/liner they put on the headrest. Would be nice to have during a pandemic when we are all trying to be a little more cautious. Awesome hours of stellar service starting checking in with lovely attentive ladies then upstairs with EM doing my 1hour deep tissue massage to take my aches away. Then a treat of the Pumpkin Facial with Emily (WOW what a fabulous 60 minutes experience and I don't recognize my new reborn face!) Topped off with a great gel mani with Susanna whose attention to detail and care was amazing. Sure you can get a mani for less money somewhere but if you're looking for real caring, clean nail services with awesome products and the extra attention to detail in a zen styled environment, this place rocks! The woman who did my gel manicure yelled at me and I couldn't understand her and I kept my cool and apologized while she kept cutting my fingers and left me with a huge cut on my pinky. The vibe was lost because the water I got for my hands was freezing cold while the foot bath was boiling and burnt my feet. Also my sister got the same thing and the price was $250 which it was not worth because there was gel all over our fingertips that had hardened so we can't use our fingers. Then the manager told me my $20 tip was too low after I had had the worst nail experience of my life. So in total it cost me $270 for the worst experience of my life. read more

Beautiful spa. It is very peaceful however the chairs / furniture can use a little love. My friend and I made an appointment for pedicures. Availability was limited so we had to be flexible on timing. We showed up to our appointment and they did not have two chairs together. We decided to wait to seat together of course. My friend picked a nail color and the nail tech kept insisting the she should get a different polish that would dry faster. WEIRD. Our pedicures were rushed and took about 30 mins max. They said they had other appointments. So disappointing that they manage this place like this. This place is one of the priciest and we picked it since we wanted to have a nice relaxing girls time ! Nice spa, but kind of a weird set up for doing pedicures. They use a portable basin and then when you put your feet up, you keep pushing the stool made it very uncomfortable gel pedicure at $80 was just so so. read more

One of the best massages I have experienced in the city. I came here twice; once through classpass to get the tension tamer 30 minute massage and a second time to get the 30 minute back and shoulder massage. Both times I felt so relaxed coming out of the massages. The masseuses did a great job with working out the tough knots in my shoulders and neck and applied a good amount of pressure. The environment is also soothing and clean and it is easy to find parking on the surrounding streets. Overall highly recommend coming here for the massages. read more

Unfortunately we had booked a couples massage but there was a mixup with the rooms so my boyfriend and I were in separate rooms which was a bummer. I also had to wait 15 minutes longer to get started but my masseuse absolutely made up for any frustrations! (I wish I had taken before and after pics) I have sensitive/oily/combo skin and I didn't have a bad reaction with the products used for the facial. I used to LOVE bamboo spa. Would come here a couple times a week for massages and nail care. Unfortunately, it seems like the management of the booking system or change in front desk staffing, has really tanked their customer service. My last two massages I booked through their booking system online, arrived to my appointment, and the massage therapist was at equinox at the time my massage was to take place and I had to wait almost 20-30 minutes. Then she put her smelly shoes in my massage room, which was gross. Didn't book a massage for a few months as it happened twice. I booked online for an appointment this morning to give it another shot, and shocker the massage therapist was not available at the time of my booking. If the spa is not going to have their massage therapist available at the time slots that are available to book online, they should remove them from being able to be booked and have the decency to call or text me before I went to the spa. Lol In addition to the above, not all massage therapists are equal, some are really bad and not worth the money. I've left in the past with scratches after telling the therapist multiple times she was scratching me , their hands smelling like food, and some literally just rubbing oil on you rather than actually giving a massage. The only one I recommend if you are going to get a massage there, is Patty. I will no longer be going there, redmint is a better option. The only reason they are getting a three star, is from my good experience in the past. read more

I really love this place, but am disappointed with the booking system. I had scheduled a 90-min massage online and confirmed my appointment on time. When I got to the place, the receptionist told me that the person before me extended their appointment over mine (last minute I guess) so I had to wait and start at a later time. I even selected any therapist. I don't recommend their online booking for future services. Would rather just call and make sure they have secured your appointment time or else, you'll just be sitting and waiting or somebody else before you decides to extend without you knowing. One of the most beautiful and well-decorated salons in san francisco. Love the wood aesthetics and spread out chairs. Definitely not cramped and didn't feel like your typical nail salon competing solely on price. That being said, Bamboo is fairly upscale and so are the prices ($70 for mani/pedi not incl gel; $60 for a sport mani/pedi). But there is something worthwhile about the lovely experience and having two people work on your mani/pedi at the same time so you can get on with your day quickly. The staff are nice and polite. There is no loud shouting back and forth in a foreign language. My husband probably loved the jelly beans the most (yes they have jelly beans up front). read more

Una muy mala experiencia nos llevamos mi pareja y yo, de entrada, todas las instalaciones calientes, las bebidas que ofrecen (champagne y vino tinto) lo más barato que se pueda encontrar en el mercado, al pasar al área del facial, nos piden que nos desvistamos y nos pongamos una bata, empezando por que había una cámara en ese cuarto (y te estas desvistiendo) y la bata parecía de niño por que me llego a la cintura, me la puse como camisa y me deje el pantalón, después bajamos al área de pedicure y nos piden esperar en la recepción (en bata) con nuestras cosas (ropa, reloj, llaves etc..) en las manos, con más gente pasando en bata también en esa area, en el área de pedicure goteaba el aire que estaba sobre nosotros y todo lleno de polvo ya que estaban remodelando, terminando pedicure subimos nuevamente (en bata y con nuestras cosas en la mano) al área de masaje, donde al entrar estaba un aire goteando con una cubeta abajo por lo que siempre se escuchaba la gotera y no permitía relajarse, además estaban remodelando el cuarto de a lado y se escuchaba demasiado ruido de construcción (tanto que la misma persona que nos atendió les fue a pedir que pararan), hubiese agradecido que avisaran qué se encontraba en construcción para tomar en consideración y saber si pagar por un paquete tan caro por tan carente servicio, destacando que el servicio de las personas fue bueno, las instalaciones carecen de muchas cosas y además que se encontraba en construcción read more

I love my nails. Everyone took such good care of me. I am in SF for the weekend and needed to get my nails done for a wedding. I randomly Googled nail salons on Union Street. I took a gamble with Bamboo and it paid off. My nails look wonderful. They did a great job. They used a warming lotion which felt really good. The atmosphere is very calming. There is jazz music playing in the background and nice lighting with leather chairs. They have aromatherapy as well. Very soothing place. All in all it was a relaxing experience. Ask for Tina. I got an amazing Dazzle Dry manicure here. It lasted 3 weeks! And I only had to remove it because it was growing out, no chips at all. Dazzle Dry is NOT a gel so no UV light. Just incredible. And the staff was very nice, great ambiance too. Highly recommend Bamboo. read more
