I love the drinks here. But I'm not planning on coming back to this location unless they fix their new ordering system. It's also not the girls fault in the back who seemed to be the only human running back and forth to make drinks and deal with customers in the front. 1. I wanted to use my Fivestars rewards but when I saw the tablet didn't provide me that option to use the code, I pressed the help button but no one ever came to help. 2. I waited for my two drinks for about 30 min until I was able to get the girl's attention and ask about my number. 3. Again, not her fault but my number never got called on the intercom or did it show up on the tv - so I got some nice soggy drinks to go in the end. I suggest the manager do some quick user testing with whatever software they're using to smooth out the errors that I experienced. Either remove the Fivestars program from your store or implement a way where we can use the rewards on the interface and just make sure people who order in person get their drinks on time? I love this place! I came yesterday and got the avocado smash. It is creamy and rich with flavor. If you leave it outside for too long it will get disgusting. The boba drinks are not so good. I've been here several times and each time I order my milk tea 100% sweetness and it is not sweet enough. Today I ordered it extra sweet and it still wasn't sweet so I asked for more sugar and then it was finally sweet enough. At other tea establishments, I don't have this issue. Overall, their milk teas are not as good as Teaspoon. Their Che is pretty good. They have super cute Disney character macarons. Their taste is average (the filling is a bit too dense) but I just can't resist the cute factor. Overall verdict: Skip if you want milk tea. Drop by if you want Che. read more

Let me be 100% clear here. 4/5 is a good score representing how how well I believe the full-scope of the shop serves me. But I think people who are looking for sweet, desserty drinks better be rating this 5/5 because Bambu has a LOT going for it. I'll start with the pros: They have really great desserts, snacks, and drink options. Great flavors. Some of the best avocado smoothie options around which makes them a niche for people in the market for avo. Their biggest selling point is the space. They have a study room in the back, they've got couches all over. It is THE best place to lounge in the area because Starbucks and Philz are always packed and loud. The cons: Drinks a bit pricey. Not insanely so. This is a very minor con. PERSONALLY, most of the menu is just a bit too sweet for my taste. Many menu items have the option to go less-sweet but some don't. It limits some of my ordering options taking away elements of one of the pros (their deep and varied menu). Despite that, I really like their Avo options if I can spare the calories. They have very good Vietnamese Coffee. The space is great. It's a solid establishment, and I think people in the market for dessert drinks and snacks have a real winner here. I came here one day after dim sum with my family and actually saw they even had character macaroons! I couldn't resist and HAD to buy some. It was 5 for $15. They are so cute and very tasty also! I got the avo-coffee for my husband (and me of course) and the mango tea. The combination between the avocado and coffee creates a smooth, creamy dream in your mouth. The Vietnamese coffee is nice and strong...just the way I, I mean, he likes it. Also, adding the coffee jelly was a nice touch. Now to the mango tea...I need a moment of silence. The service was great! The BAMBU franchises are great and being Vietnamese I love my Chè. But unfortunately this place failed me twice in one occasion. I ordered a #9 Red Bean Combo: pandas jelly, taro, red bean & coconut milk. Now I am for certain that chè is suppose to be sweet since it is a dessert but it wasn't the two times I had it. The first time around the amount of taro in the drink was about a little over 1/3 of the cup there was hardly any red bean or jelly and when I mixed it up to 'drink' the coconut milk it stared like it had been watered down. I let the young woman who was the cashier know and asked if it was possible to get a small amount of coconut milk so it's sweeter or if it was possible to make it again because it was just very watery and they did! Yet the second time around the same instance with the ratio of taro,red bean, but this time little to no jelly...there was more coconut milk in it as well as a vast amount of ice that's used to make the drink cold but again the chè was not sweet nor was it chè at all it was simply taro and watery coconut milk. I did not request a third time even though some say third times a charm, but at that point it's kind of pointless it can't be made right the first or second time. I did not finish the two desserts, I had to just dump them since I could not eat them because of how poorly they were made. The location is great, the place is very cleanly and they have a very accommodating staff, this review is on how the drink I ordered was made especially for the price of it. Went here for the 1st time over the weekend because I wanted Boba and this place is new and closer than Mountain View's Tapioca Express (where I normally go). It was Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. I ordered the Strawberry smoothie with pearls, my s/o ordered a Pina Colada Smoothie with pearls, and my son got the Green Apple smoothie with NO pearls. The Cost: Each drink was $4.25. Reasonable. The service: The service itself wasn't bad. We were greeted with a smile. The cashier was friendly, but nothing spectacular. Now for the drinks themselves: When I order smoothies I expect them to live up to there name and for them to be smooth. They weren't. A lot of ice chunks. The Strawberry and the Pina Colada were both very bland. The green apple had good flavor, but yet again a ton of ice chunks. Neither drink had that many pearls in them and they seemed to be a little off from other places I have experienced. Grand Finale: While we were waiting for our not so delicious drinks this lady comes in with a cat on a leash. She was carrying the feline, so at first it wasn't a huge deal. However, because she was carrying the cat when it came time to take her credit card out of her wallet she did not have enough hands. She placed the cat on the counter. I waited patiently to see how the cashier would respond to the fact that they had a cat on the counter... Nothing was said to her. Then a manager came out, there was something wrong with her order. I thought to myself well he ought to say something right? He corrected her transaction, but they had to run her credit card for a second time. She again placed the feline on the counter. Still waiting patiently for the manager to say something, but yet another disappointment... Nothing was said to her. No, "Ma'am we do not allow animals in here", "please do not bring your pet in here in the future", "we have a no pet policy" or "Can you please place your cat on the ground, we serve food on these counters". The manager was asked by a customer after the lady left, if they allowed pets and he said no. They promptly wiped down the counters, but I can't help but wonder if it is because they were called out on it. To be fair, I was craving boba and this is the only place walkable in Downtown Sunnyvale. I don't think boba is their main thing... But regarding their boba: I got a Thai Tea with Egg Pudding and Pearls. I like the 2 free toppings perk, but the pearls were disgusting. They were way over cooked to the point of mushiness, and definitely not soaked in honey or sugar or anything, since they were flavorless and gross. The egg pudding was only okay, and the tea was fine, but the boba really ruined the drink. Again, maybe this is not the place to go to get boba, but if you're considering it at all, don't do it. The green bean jelly drink with coconut milk was difficult to eat as the jelly was one big stuck together blob that was awkward to eat in front of our group. Also the coconut milk was too sweet for me and kinda runny. I tried my wife's avocado coffee drink and I didn't like the taste. I don't think coffee and avocado should be in the same sentence together but it must appeal to somebody as they have a big sign on the window to promote it. Rating - 4 Stars Downtown Sunnyvale FINALLY has its own milk tea place! I tried Dessert #2 (Che Thap Cam [Combo]) and their black milk tea w/ boba and... no complaints from me! The che I ordered was on point and the boba was soft and chewy. Granted, it's not like it was AMAZING or anything, but it definitely hits the spot when I'm craving some boba or something sweet. Just be warned that this place is slightly more expensive than other Asian cafes with milk teas being $3.75 and the che being either $4.25/$4.75. For those of you eating or wanting to try che for the first time, the way to do it is to use the spoon they provide you to break up and mix the dessert as much as possible, use the straw to slurp what you can, and then repeat this process until you feel like eating the rest of the dessert with the spoon. read more

I saw on Yelp this place finally opened, so I figured I'd come in and give it a shot. It's definitely got a lot more space than the other locations I've been to. Also, with its setup, it feels a little like a coffee shop/Bambu hybrid. They have the espresso/coffee machine on the side, not to mention the open fridge for bottle drinks, so very cafe-like. The venue is clean and for now, spacious as I assume more furniture will be coming in. There's a conference room in the back that holds 6 people and can be rented out for $30/hr. There's supposed to be a TV in there through which you can hook up. $30/hr is pretty steep, but I guess if you want to do it, why not? The staff was very nice and very amiable. They mentioned the grand opening to be scheduled in January, so hopefully that will come through soon. I ordered my very usual drink, #6 (Che Trai Cay) with some tweaks. For the most part, it was pretty tasty. I've tried this at other locations and sometimes, they don't taste as good, but this one was pretty spot on to what I was expecting. I don't know where it ranks in relation to the other branches just yet, but we'll see. The only thing that pings is me how much more the drinks cost at this location, at least $0.50 if not $1.00 more. I know that franchises can set their own prices and because of its prime location in Sunnyvale, there are probably higher bills to pay, etc, but it does make me a little sad and discourages me a little from wanting to make this a regular spot. Don't get me wrong, I love the Bambu desserts and would marry them if I could, but it just gets to me. I know, I know, it's not a significant amount of money, but still. Overall, this is a great location. I love the franchise and I love the staff, the location, the desserts, etc. If I were in the area again, I'd definitely swing by, because let's be honest, who can say no? read more

The cashier here is super friendly and helpful for people who came here for the first time. Milk tea with pearl: the best thing they have here. Che trai cay: number 6, it has lychee, longan, red tapioca, jackfruit, palm seed, jello, pandan jelly, coconut. My sister got this drink it was recommended by the cashier. My sister said that this drink just had too much going on. She said she wishes she didn't get it and should have ordered something more similar to mine. She also wasn't crazy about the coconut meat in the drinks (she took the time to pick it all out). Dau do khoai, #14, red bean, taro, pandan jelly, coconut milk. I asked for my drink without sugar and was super happy that I ordered it that way. The sugar in the red bean was enough to sweeten the drink. If I ordered the drink with regular sugar it most def. would have been too much for me. So of you're like me not into super sweet drinks you should make sure to ask for less sugar. Mango dazzle smoothie: my friend got this drink and said he could feel all the sugar running through his veins.... I guess you should as for less sugar if you don't like super sweet drinks. I usually love Bambu and have been to many other locations in NorCal as well as LA area. I got #1 which has basil seeds, coconut juice, longan and pandan jelly. I replaced the longan with taro. The reason I'm giving 2 stars is because my pandan jelly was all stuck together and it was impossible to drink my drink. It was literally like a entire green glob in my drink. Also, the taro was really liquid-y and wasn't like the taro that I've had at other Bambus. Probably won't be coming back here for any of their viet dessert drinks.. read more

I get my order and the first thing I see is coconut bits instead of big coconut meat slices. I asked the worker why and all she said was "Oh, sorry we ran out of coconut" UHMM??? So basically, they ran out of coconut and put coconut juice and coconut bits from those canned coconut juices instead. WTF. You should definitely notify the customers you're out of coconut while they are ordering something that has coconut in it... No? My drink did not taste fresh what so ever. I came here after eating at the burger joint, Nom Burger, in downtown Sunnyvale for some after lunch desserts. Thai iced tea is my favorite drink at the other Bambu location in San Jose (off Hostetter Rd.) so naturally I had to get the same drink here. This is my second time at this location now. I wanted to wait a bit to get a few experiences before writing a review. The first time, I came during lunch hours and got an avocado Vietnamese coffee mix smoothie. The combination of the avocado and coffee was honestly a bit weird, didn't complement each other but still acceptable in taste. However the lychee and raspberry jam macaron was really good and different from any other one I've tried. Today I came again during lunch hours, and got a caffe mocha slush, with hazelnut milk. It was pretty good, I should've gotten pearls but forgot to ask, but overall it was good. I'll try a Vietnamese coffee slush next time because I prefer a more coffee taste. read more

I don't understand why these ratings are so brutal- Bambu isn't good, but it isn't awful either. As far as I know, there isn't any other option for bubble tea near by in the area so I've been here a couple times when I'm too lazy too drive farther. The regular milk teas are $3.75 which I think is really fair and makes it somewhat worth coming here. I've only tried their thai milk tea because it's my standard drink and it's good. I know it's not freshly brewed and tastes similar to the packaged tea mix you can get from ranch 99- I'll try a different flavor next time I pop in here. The pearls had a nice consistency. I normally don't comment on the atmosphere or service but I had a really awkward experience with the cashier when I came in last time...She was a run of the mill cashier and smiled and did all the things she should, but she didn't say thank you or offer me my receipt? I just stood there expecting that she wasn't done ringing it up or something but then she just walked away without another word!
