I had dinner at this restaurant several years ago when it first opened and was not very impressed. However, a friend suggested we eat there tonight and it was wonderful. We had to wait about a half an hour for a table so I will call ahead for a reservation next time. I was going to order a prawn dish but our server suggested I try the lamb chops special and wow was she right. They were great. The service was excellent as well. There are very few times that I would take the time to make a review of a restaurant, however when one has truly the worst experience ever one must speak out. Don't ever visit Bamboo, We won't be back! Reservations were made the night before our visit. Reservations for six people! Not a large group six, three couples. We arrived for our visit slightly before our reservation. The mostly confused staff told us our table would be ready in a bit. In the meanwhile they sat 4-5 other groups prior to seating us. 30 minutes later we were sat at out table. Another 40 minutes passed before our order was taken. When the food finally arrived it was bland, tasteless and over priced. To top the night off we were charged an automatic 18% gratuity to thank us for this amazingly awful experience. My partner and I tried Bambu for the first time this past Valentine's Day. We had a great experience. Going in with no particular expectations, we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the tiger rolls (cream cheese, crab, cilantro, and chili sauce wrapped in a spring roll wrapper, fried and served with a sweet/spicy chili sauce). They were DELICIOUS! We also ordered one of the specials for the evening, lobster potstickers. These little dumplings were also very good, with a lemongrass dipping sauce. We shared an entree (another special that night), a crusted mahi mahi in a yellow curry sauce. The fish was very fresh and the curry was deliciously flavored. This particular plate came with a heaping bowl of steamed jasmine rice (more than enough for the two of us) and wilted spinach. The spinach didn't have much taste, but nothing a bit of the leftover curry sauce couldn't help. I would definitely try this place again. read more

Checked this place out because of good Yelp reviews and was not disappointed! The food was really tasty and the portions were big. You can get a good size meal and a beer for less then $20. I tried the veggie pad thai and the stir fried green beans and the spring rolls. It was nothing more than ok, and very overpriced for just ok. There was an excessive amount of peanut sauce on the beans, and both the beans and pad thai were way too sweet. Nice try, Bambu - maybe the people here in Medford like this syrupy sweet food because they've never had better, but I don't plan on going back. Oh! and the iced tea tasted like it was some pre-made stuff out of a soft drink machine - nasty. read more

Food is excellent. Customer service lacking which makes the whole experience less than great. Two weeks ago we arrived just after opening and asked if there was a seat available for two. We were told no, except at the bar. We ate in an empty restaurant..tables were JUST filling as we left 45 min later. On our most recent visit we were with 5 others and our server did not 'serve' us the way we would have expected....or maybe I should have realized this was their weakness...customer service. We also did not expect our checks to include a 20% tip. With great service I am fine CHOOSING to leave 20% but NOT for mediocre service. To boot, he asked one of our group if he wanted change (in the amount of $8!!!). That is just rude and unprofessional. We will likely return because of the food quality but unfortunately will not expect good service. In the past everything was great, now...not so much and I will reconsider before going back. There are other great places to eat in Medford and Phoenix...especially good Thai food. read more

An excellent place for upscale Asian food! I'm normally not a fan of "Asian fusion" restaurants, it usually denotes a place mediocre in all Asian cuisines. I was a little suspicious of its location in a suburban shopping center. Bambu, however, is a pleasant surprise! Bambu's chef keeps the beauty of Asian dishes while staying within an American orbit of cuisine. Starters were spring rolls with stuffed with a melange of veggies and edamame which I ordinarily wouldn't mention except they were presented in a elegant little steamer. To get down to major victuals, my wife had crab sliders. I was lucky to get one bite of this tasty treat that respected the basic taste of the crab with crunchy slivers of Napa cabbage. Ummmgood, I ordered the pork ribs (a little bland and moist for my taste) served with Bok Choy and delicious latticed potato chips. My granddaughter dug into the Dim Sum steamer which featured five heavenly little dumplings. My daughter opted for a mushroom stew, served in a large bowl which had a light white sauce that I love in the best fish stews and clam chowders. Oh! Let's not forget dessert (says my wife). Yep, it was the highlight of the meal. I'd describe it as Bananas Foster dressed up as an egg roll. Spectacular presentation and taste to match. Meal was well within price point for a modestly upscale restaurant. read more

First when I called to order food to go, they put me on hold for ten minutes. I thought about hanging up and trying somewhere else but wanted to give it a shot. After my order was taken, the hostess/waitress said it would be about twenty minutes. I went down to pick it up, and was told they had forgotten to even put my order in to be cooked. They charged me about $40 for just two curry entrees and cold tiger roll appetizer. They gave me $10 gift card for the wait. The food wasn't even good and the tiger roll appetizer might as well have been dogfood. This place is utterly terrible. Hate that I have to even give it one star, but hopefully this place will go out of business SOON!!! read more

I have always had great food and great service here. They tend to get busy and it isn't a huge place, so reservations are a good idea. Their lunch special is such a deal. I think their prices are reasonable and reflect the quality and quantity of food. read more

What a pleasant "find". On Medford for the weekend and drove into this little plaza, parked right in front and decided to try it. DH had the special, a wonderful light curry filled with different fish and shell fish. He loved it. I had a great Thai lime salad work grilled tofu and chutney. So yummy. Bambu is a great place for dinner. The chef is excellent and always has great specials and delivers great items on the menu. The prices are adequately priced for the level of food. The restaurant gets really busy during peak hours on the weekend so if you can avoid 6-7.30 on fri and sat. then you will avoid waiting for a table or your food. 4 stars keep up the good work! read more

I found Bambu five years ago on the recommendation of a realtor I was surprised to find a Bay Area style restaurant in Medford. The food is not 5-star but it is good and its fun to order in a dim sum kind of way (ie. multiple items). I find the prices very reasonable for what you get. The service flucturates with the male servers being the better servers. They do have a lovely patio on the side that is very nice in the summer. I also like their cucumber water! read more

I love Thai food, and this was one of the best places I've gone to. Must try the Pacific Rim Crab Cakes, very tasty. Given is fresh Dungeness crab cakes pan fried with a red curry aioli. Also their Char Grilled Prawns. The prices are a little much, but everything was great and tasty! read more

I am not an Asian food gourmet, but cannot imagine a restaurant a lot better than this anywhere in Oregon. The food fresh and innovative, the service is friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is pleasing. Though it is in a strip mall, it is not a cookie cutter, corporate type place. Lunch items cost only a bit more than a "McWendee's." Servings are generous and the presentation of the food is attractive. It is now my favorite restaurant in the Medford area. read more

I never expected to find such fine dining in Medford, Oregon. My sister and I arrived with no reservation having been directed there by our hotel. Fortunately, we were early enough to get a table. The food was delicious with very large servings. i had the Jasmine rice and the taste was light and complex. Very friendly service, though be prepared for a long wait as they are very busy and prepare everything as it should be done. A great surprise. read more

Every time I go here, it is packed! But we've never had to wait much longer than 10-15 minutes. And, boy, is it worth waiting for! The favors and smells are fantastic. There are lots of good vegetarian choices-- and knowledgeable waitstaff. We mentioned that we are vegetarian when we ordered. The waiter took our orders but returned a couple minutes later to let us know that he'd checked and one item we'd ordered included fish sauce. He even suggested a vegetarian substitution! LOVED this place!! The atmosphere is upscale casual with pleasant, relaxing background music whose volume easily allows dinner conversation. The staff are outstanding, from the hostess who offered to take our coats and hats and brought us an extra spoon delivered in a folded napkin, to the waiters who know the ingredients in the dishes and are superbly attentive to detail. Our water glasses were never more than half empty before being refilled and we were checked on regularly without feeling hounded. Ahead of time we requested our entrees be held for a bit after we finished the appetizers to allow us more time for drinks and conversation, and this request was handled expertly and without confusion. The meal was incredible with fresh ingredients and good presentation. The crispy potato chips as appetizer were perfect, lightly salted and not the least bit greasy, the lemongrass soup was spicy and pungent and the salad perfect with a light peanut dressing. The sweet and sour prawns were wonderful, as was the flank steak served with onions and tomatoes. The fried rice with prawns was delicately flavored and delicious. Dessert was creme brûlée, presented beautifully and equally yummy. Diners are encouraged to share dishes, which is perfect for a place with such great flavors and tastes. I stopped by Bambu on my trip to Crater Lake with my family. Coming from the bay area CA, I was not quiet sure if Medford has any good Asian restaurant. My family were disappointed in general on the food although atmosphere and service were very good. We ordered Lemongrass Soup, Thai Chicken Sate, Rock Shrimp Spring Roll, Pan Fried Noodles, and Thai Style Fried Rice. They come with complementary streamed white rice which was tasty. However, we found Lemongrass Soup and Rock Shrimp Spring Roll are too salty. The chicken (breast) in Pan Fried Noodles was generous portion and crispy outside but moist inside but the noodles and rest of the dish has no flavor other than salt and peanut. I was looking for more complex taste for the price which I think is in higher-end in Medford. The bright spot was Thai Chicken Sate and Thai Style Fried Rice which were pretty good. I won't go back for the food for now. read more

First time at Bamboo for many years. Decide to go for a special night our anniversary. Seated outside and that was fine with us. Service person was fine but a little stilted about the menu choices. We decider on a bottle of wine and made two selections for appetizers. My wife selected dim sum and I the egg roll. It was a lovely evening but the service was slow. Appetizers arrived for my wife. Potstickers were minimally filled. Sauces were institutional. Then my appetizer arrived. My egg rolls were deep fried and very very small. The sauce with the eggrolls was a vinegar-based sauce with floating chunks of peanuts on top. My wife ordered a shrimp dish with coconut sauce and peanut over a spinach base. Coconut sauce was canned coconut with cream and no spice. Pepper flakes were added to the sauce to add a little spice but as an afterthought. Boring dish and boring presentation. I ordered Korean barbecue. That did not arrive until five minutes after my wife's dish arrived. A pool of soy sauce with bok choy and sliced flank steak is not a Korean barbecue dish. I don't get it. Great location lovely setting but no inspired food. There is a Japanese bento restaurant down the street on Barnett which I think was a better deal. We live in Medford and we hope the food quality improves but this is not the example of a restaurant inspired to do that. Having said that, the place was packed. I guess I can't argue with success. I don't mind paying for food but I didn't get my value tonight and we will not come back. read more
