I'm not sure this would be 5 at any location, or that it's 5 star Vietnamese food (not my area of expertise), but for airport food it's just about perfect. I have a sensitive stomach so eating at the airport stresses me out. I tend to stick with sandwiches or bagels, which are usually pretty meh. I had a vermicelli bowl with chicken and it was really tasty, fast and most importantly to me an option that isn't going to bother my stomach (no one wants that before they get on a plane). It had a nice light tangy sauce that wasn't too oily over warm noodles that contrasted satisfyingly with fresh crunchy vegetables, not a sad wilted airport lettuce in sight. The food here is amazing, but the service was terrible. The (younger, brown hair) woman working had a horrible attitude. She had her AirPods in while working and was screaming across the small dining area, likely because she was listening to music and couldn't hear. She handed napkins with every other order besides mine, and when I asked for some heavily sighed as she first pointed me across the bar and then handed me some. It was really quite tasty! I tried their rolls (with pork), an egg and Chinese sausage bowl, and a pork bahn mi. Everything was really tasty- the rolls were great, with a nice peanut sauce and a stuffing full of meat and veggies. The bahn mi was fatty and delicious (there'll be a bit of mayo on there, so if that isn't your thing you might want to ask them to put less on or skip it), and the egg and Chinese sausage bowl was really good. I've always been a fan of the sweet Chinese sausage, and that isn't something that you find very often in American restaurants, so it was a really nice touch. All in all, this is a nice little place to eat. Right now it's just a cart in the middle of the airport, but it looks like they'll have a full-on storefront soon. I stopped by here earlier today for lunch while at PDX. My wife and I were in a food court area and I was excited to see a Vietnamese restaurant. The setup of this place is actually quite confusing because it looks like many other places with a place to wait in line to order your food and then you pay at the end. However here you pay first and then go wait for your food in the area where it looks like the line should be forming. I saw a couple of people get confused by it and even talked to a lady that called it stupid. For my lunch entree I decided to go with the tofu rice bowl. Whenever I was eating it the meal felt fresh and rather healthy like most Vietnamese food does to me, so that was good. What I didn't like is that I felt that the bowl was a little bland and also that the tofu felt a bit greasy. Still it was a solid meal and a nice change up from the normal airport food that I get. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While it wasn't the best tasting Vietnamese food I have ever had, I was pretty happy with it for being airport food. read more

The idea is great, the menu boards are well done, but the execution is a little lackluster. I had the Spring Roll vermicelli bowl. It was decently sized and prepared quickly. The taste was average, but at least they were actual Vietnamese people preparing the food (I could hear them speaking). I had also ordered a bubble tea smoothie. I waited over 12 minutes after having received my bowl for them to bring it out to me. A great breakfast to have on the plane. It kept me sated during my long trip back to LA, complete with a layover in Oakland and a delay for the second flight. Not bad for $6! The chicken bahn mi was AWFUL! I picked it up to take on my 5 hr flight and when I opened it up about half way through I found that the bread was rock hard and the chicken was completely dried out. I've eaten more than once at the Bambuza location at South Waterfront and had great experiences. Last week, I decided to get a Banh Mi Sandwich to take on the plane from the Bambuza in the PDX airport. Knowing the sandwich comes on a long french bread loaf, I asked that they cut the sandwich in half when I placed the order. I was curtly told that I could cut it myself with a plastic knife. This is customer service at its worse. I regret not walking away and ordering from another establishment. The entire sandwich was wrapped in paper, so cutting it after the fact, would cause the ingredients to fall out along the cuts when transporting it. I ended up cutting the sandwich at the counter and requesting extra paper to wrap each half in. To add insult, the sandwich was dry and lacked flavor. So disappointed in the customer service and food from this establishment. Am not inclined to return to this restaurant, especially knowing there are other great eateries at PDX. read more

There used to be a Bambuza out near Tanasbourne where I went all the time so I was happy to see this spot in the PDX food court. I've never had anything but the chicken banh mi here, which has usually been fairly consistent - marinated chicken with daikon, radish, and jalapeño. The bread isn't as good as the other location I think, but it's a very good sandwich that will hold for your trip cross country and still taste good. Service can be a bit slow, so I wouldn't order here if there's more than a few people and your flight is boarding soon. read more

Was doubled charged! The cashier told me the transaction didn't go through, yet I had a receipt, I told her how can that be possible if I have a receipt, she said IDK, then turned her tablet around to show me that it did not process, AGAIN I said I have a receipt, she kept demanding my charge card again, so seeing the tablet said it didn't process I reluctantly gave it back to her to not cause more of a disturbance at the airport. Well low and behold it did charge me twice! I waited 5 days to see if one charge would drop off, but never did. I tried calling several times, but no answer and tried emailing and again no response! PDX is probably my favorite airport to eat food at. Usually, airports hike up the prices of food, but at PDX, it's comparable to that outside of the airport, what a steal! And it being in Oregon, there is no sales tax, another bonus! I came here before a flight to Denver since I was hungry. I took a honey glazed chicken vermicelli noodle bowl on my way out. The food smelled really good, and it tasted the way I was expecting it. The vegetables, meat, and noodles all meshed so well together, I enjoyed it. I was craving noodles that day, but I'm sure it tastes just as good with rice instead. The only thing you have to be weary of, is that the to go box it comes in, feels like it may leak if you put the sauce in the box, but it didn't leak for me luckily. Just be aware. This is the perfect place in the airport between or pre flight to get some decently cheap, Vietnamese food. read more

My favorite banh mi! If I'm flying out of Portland, I always get there a little early so I can get two pork banh mi's. One to eat on the plane and one for a meal when I get home.... It's that good. And it's such a good deal! It's about a foot long baguette for about $8, can't really go wrong. The pork is so juicy and the pickled veggies that it comes with is perfect! Honestly, the chicken bahn mi that I had from this place was pretty good, especially for airport food. The bread was a little dry, but the chicken was juicy and had good flavor. They are kind of slow though and there's not much organization. It seemed liked there was one person doing pho & one person doing bahn mis. The pho person was getting food out much faster that the bahn mi person, and a few people behind me who ordered pho go served first. Finally, another employee came out and helped the bahn mi maker. If you want solid airport food (and like Vietnamese) I suggest coming here if you're not in a hurry. A friend of mine got pho and there was a TON of it and she seemed to enjoy it. As a Vietnamese American born, raised, and residing in CA I've had my fair share of Vietnamese sandwiches which happen to be one of my favorite foods. When it was handed to me I was surprised at the size but also the fact it was WARM. What. Anyone who normally eats Viet sandwiches know it's typically cold bread. Warm. Ok fast forward to first bite, had all the flavors that you're familiar with when eating a grilled pork (thit nuong) sandwich. Veggies, optional spicy jalapeños (I eat spicy and I have a nice heat sensation) and sauce really tie this together. Definitely worth a try if you're in the mood for quality authentic Viet sandwich. Had a horrible experience during my airport sit at Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen inside PDX. I began my experience by ordering a scotch with a "splash" of soda. The server opened up a bottle of soda water and filled it halfway up with soda water. I ordered the Honey Chicken bowl with noodles and got preheated chicken, soggy noodles and a greasy side of fried shrimp. I took in the atmosphere surrounded by fruit flies as I listened to the two male bartenders talk to an airport employee with a Delta badge about all their latest female sexual conquests. There was one female worker/bartender working very hard and basically doing all of the work for the guys. I heard at least 20 mins of how they liked/disliked the girls photos, bodies and boyfriends on Instagram. Sorry Ashley and Jessica...they weren't fans. I paid my bill and asked for a glass of water to wash down the "delicious" food and was given a plastic cup filled with the same tap water they wash the dishes with. An ending as fitting as the whole experience. There are lots of choices in PDX so avoid this one and go elsewhere. read more

Visiting Portland from a small Midwestern town and I had a chance to try this place before flying out of PDX. I did not get chance to try Pho at one of the restaurants in Portland so wanted at least have a bowl before I left as there are no Vietnamese places where I live. I had the beef slice pho (no meat balls here). For an airport restaurant, the pho here was great. The broth was very savory and it was a big bowl (traditional). I think it was a bit expensive (11.95) but quite reasonable for airport food. Since I had a long layover in Chicago and the airport food there isn't very good, I got a pork Banh Mi to eat for dinner in Chicago. It was excellent. The vegetables were fresh and tasty. Meat was flavorful. It was a good size sandwich as well for only $7.95. A great deal. Overall this place rates 4.5 stars. read more

I had time to kill, of all the restaurants at the food court this one looked the busiest. I ordered their Hanoi beef pho as seen in picture. It wasn't the worst nor was it the best pho. The broth was sweeter than what I'm used to. No side herbs or beans sprouts came with the order. You can definitely taste the star anise in the broth. Noodles were cooked well. Food poisoning. Not a stranger to Vietnamese grilled pork sandwiches- I was excited to try their breakfast variety. Something tasted way off from the start. I pulled off the cucumbers which were clearly soggy and slimy. Between the grey eggs, foamy and not cooked to order that had an unreal texture to it and the disgusting tasting mayonnaise , I can't be certain what made me ill. I ate a third of the sandwich, then threw it away. I felt nauseous the whole day and returned home to spend the next twelve hours in the bathroom.
