I've been eating at this place for years! Always great soups and dinners that taste real homemade. However my favorite plain Turkey dinner was horrible the other day. Dry and tasted like cardboard. I was a previous patron of the Bandwagon Diner before their beautiful renovation. I finally returned and had dinner about 2 Saturday evenings ago, and what a delight! My friend and I both chose from their complete dinner specials and every morsel from "soup to nuts" was so yummy! The prices, quality and quantity of the portions were amazing and the service was impeccable! Food isn't spectacular, but for the price you really cant beat it. It was tastey, but they seem to use cheaper ingredients, seed oils, etc. But again, considering how cheap the prices were and that the food tasted home-cooked, I would recommend. Early in this year when Covid was at the height we came here ate outdoors and had a nice lunch. Today we are having breakfast inside because there is no more outside dining. We were created by an older host who was very nice and had to be Greek sporting a nice thick hair cut. The waiter approached and was also very nice. The inside is a basic diner no thrills needing updates with an old drop ceiling. My GF ordered the spinach and Swiss omelette. I ordered the French toast with sausage links. Both portions were more then enough. The eggs were delicious and my French toast was three large pieces. The sausage links in diners are a hit and miss with the flavor. The links here were done perfect and probably the best diner links I've had in a while. Again no thrills here breakfast for two with coffees and juice was $25. Just okay. After numerous tries, we've decided not to return. Often long and unorganized waits for a table and NO comfortable area to wait. Major traffic jam at the entrance (which is also where patrons must pay). Unpleasant "host" who makes it clear that he cares little whether you are a happy customer. Service is average but lax on refills of coffee or drinks. Breakfast is the busiest. Have also tried lunch and dinner and have moved on to other places we enjoy more. read more

This just one of those great diners that probably gets their regular customers. It has a lot of seating, but fills up fast! While on vacation we went there for dinner and breakfast. You get a lot of great food for an amazing price. I had the fish and chips basket that could have fed 3 people for around $12. It came with onion rings, too! At my visit to the Band Wagon Diner, the service I got was 100x better than what I expected. The waitress was extremely kind and provided really amazing service. This is truly a hidden gem of a restaurant! The food came out fast and was mouthwateringly delicious. I got the Chopped Sirloin w/onions, which is a Wednesday special. Not only was it just a steak it came with soup, salad, mashed potatoes, spinach/rice mix, and a dessert where I picked their rice pudding. The ambiance of the restaurant was sleek and modern with very nice, extremely clean restrooms. Overall, there was amazing service, atmosphere, and bathrooms. Last night, approx 7pm, 9/7/23, our 3rd visit. Will NEVER return. I ordered well done home fries with extra onions, home fries were undercooked and NO onions. Called server (Martha) she returned to kitchen, came back with plate and slammed it down on table, Did not see or hear from her until she brought the check. My partner had chicken salad wrap which was drenched in mayo (he ate 1/2 took rest home). 4:30AM he woke to strong stomach pain and had 3 episodes of diarrhea. This is the 2nd time this happened, so we are positive it was the food. As for the server, Martha, she got only a $2.00 tip and I told the mater de about our experience as well as we both received 1/2 cup of chicken orzo soup but charged for full cup. Neither cook, Baha, or his father, Sy, were in attendance. Food, servers and parking for handicap is horrible, will never return. read more

Atmosphere: The atmosphere of the Bandwagon Diner is stereotypical of diners down the shore. It looks rustic and beachy. The inside is a bit outdated but still decent. There are several booths, tables, and a full-length bar. Plus, it has pink curtains.  It could use an update, but it was clean which is what matters.  Coffee: There was nothing unusual or unique, but it was hot. The waitress refilled it a few times too. Food: The Bandwagon Diner has everything from big breakfasts to lunch and dinner specials. I was going to order off the specials menu with a wrap that contained  "chopped meat," but since I had enough mystery meat in high school, I ordered the Mediterranean wrap.  It contained grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, tomato, and spinach. In all the wrap was good but the tomato cooked spinach made it soggy. I ordered a side salad which was nothing unique.  In all the meal was good, but it wasn't my favorite.   Service: The waitress was friendly, and our food came out quickly. In fact, the food was one of the fastest to come in out in any diner I've been too.  We were in and out of the diner within 30 minutes!  Overall Thoughts/Summary: I liked the Bandwagon Diner, and it is one of my more favorite diners of the area. This is a great local place to get breakfast. I'm a native of North Jersey and have been to many Jersey diners. This place is simple, with great home style cooking. Nothing fancy but good food and good prices. I was there around 8 in the morning. The place was not crowded but did have many locals there. I loved over hearing the local conversation. When news about the trapped soccer team in Thailand came on, everyone in the restaurant was putting in their opinion and even welcomed mine, a stranger amongst them. The ladies who were serving were friendly and helpful. The food came out quickly and their coffee is great. Not familiar with the toll booths on the Garden State Parkway, they were quick to solicit help from other customers and get me the change I needed. I would eat here again, but it will be years til I make it back from TN. read more

This is by far the best diner in Toms River. My favorite breakfast is an omelette, the eggs are perfectly cooked and any topping is great. My hubby loves the ham steak and eggs. The ham steak is fresh and huge and the eggs are always cooked perfectly. My favorite part of breakfast is the choose of home fries, oatmeal or grits. I always get the grits which I LOVE!!! Be specific when you order. Porkroll is not authentic Taylor ham so it a little on the ham-ish side on texture and lacking on flavor. I expected a medium char on it (crispy outsides, tender center) but it came out almost rare. Home fries are unseasoned and very bland. Kids told me pancakes were good. *bring your own hot sauce*. All they have is tobacco. Cleanliness: meh. I went to grab a creamer for coffee and 1/2 of em were caked and sticky with syrup. Probably just my table but it was gross. read more

This has been on our list of new places to try since they opened. Parking lot seems busy every time we drive by so had high hopes it would be good. Finally tried for breakfast this morning and sadly, will not return. First, the menu was breakfast only. I know this is picky - but isn't it NJ Diner 101 that the full breakfast-lunch-dinner menu is available all day at diners? As someone who is allergic to eggs, having more options on the menu is nice. The breakfast menu was pretty small in variety compared to other places. Not much to choose from. Next, I ordered a pork roll and cheese on a croissant, which was advertised in a huge photo on the front door. It was NOTHING like the photo. Not even close. The croissant was almost less than half the size of the pork roll which made it ridiculous to eat. I was basically eating pork roll with my hands because there wasn't enough bread. Shoprite's croissants are better than what they served. Only one slice of American cheese on the whole thing. Pork roll tasted like it was heated up in a microwave. Hashbrowns were basically boiled potatoes smashed and thrown on the griddle for maybe 30 seconds. They were mushy, barely hot, zero crisp, zero seasoning on them. The juice that comes with the meal is served in something equivalent to the size of the rinse cup at the dentist. Probably overall the most bland breakfast I've ever had at a restaurant in my entire life. My husband got an omelet and had the same feedback. Really wanted to like this place but not even worth giving it a second shot. Service wasn't bad - only reason for two stars instead of one. read more

I was an vacation with the family recently and we decided on the Band Wagon Diner. The boardwalk at Seaside was overpriced and we wanted good food for a decent price. The Band Wagon delivered big time! The food is great and all the staff is Awesome!!! I ordered the hot open turkey sandwich , my wife ordered the homemade meatloaf, and my son ordered the kids spaghetti and meatballs. The food was delicious. We liked it so much we took my wife's family the next day to eat. I highly recommend the Band Wagon. We will be back next year when we are back at Seaside. Buon Appetite!! read more
