Drink menu has some interesting Thai themed takes on classic cocktails. Had the Letters From Iwo Jima Thai version of an Old Fashioned and it was pretty good. This bar is located on top of Khao San Road and their service is just as bad as Khao San Road. They take a while to get your drinks. You have to close your tab and take the drink with you if your table is ready downstairs which they never bothered to tell us that our table is ready even though we left our number with them. The drink was ok and the ambiance is night life-ish with dark lightning and graffiti. Just wish they had a better process to transfer our tab downstairs. read more

Here you can order drinks, bar snacks and desserts. Pro tips: there is no dessert offers downstairs in the restaurant. So if you do want a sweet ending, head upstairs after dinner Bloody Caesar made with the World's hottest peppers? I just couldn't resist that challenge. Girlfriends and I came here for happy hour oysters. We also ordered chicken skewers and spring rolls as well. The oysters unfortunately weren't as fresh as we hoped. They serve it with spicy Thai mignonette sauce which cut the fishy flavor. Without it, it's definitely not to my liking. It also took a very long time for the oysters to come out which can sometimes happen when it's a busy spot, I understand. When we wanted to order another round they also ran out, that was at about 8:45 PM on a Thursday. Late review, I came here around four months ago. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here, it's pretty hip and it's on the upper floor of Khao San Road. The only thing was that the menu selection was small, that night for some reason a lot of the dishes weren't available, but it was ok. Our waiter was pretty funny and did tell us what was available. SERVICE: Two friends and I went on a Thursday night for dinner, we did not have reservations however we were seated immediately. The server was engaging with recommendations and attentive when we needed service. Overall, good service! FOOD: Bang Sue Bar has the "Buck a Shuck" special on Thursdays with no time limit which was great. Between the three of us, we ordered two dozens of oysters. The oysters were served with lemon and a spicy thai sauce. The oysters were a little fishy. The server recommended the Sriracha Fried Chicken and it was really tasty! It was flavourful with the spices and it was crispy and crunchy. I would order this again! They have a large beer selection, we ordered a few IPAs and their Moscow Mules were good! Mostly waiting area for Khao San but it was good in its own right! The food menu is different than the restaurant and is made up of mainly small dishes. I went on a Sunday to escape the rain and had the fried chicken which was only 5$ with the purchase of a drink (have different specials every day). It was crunchy and moist at the same time with good dipping sauces. My drink was also excellent (spicy mezcal cocktail). Bar staff were very nice. Came here during a night of barhopping on a Friday night since it was nearby. I don't know what it is but I felt this place had everything to be a great and bumping spot but for some reason it's not. It's on the second level to the popular Khao San Road restaurant. The staff is great, bartenders were engaging and friendly and gave suggestions on which drinks were good. Speaking of which, the prices for drinks and cocktails is a bit more expensive than other places nearby I found. The music was great, loud but you can still have a conversation, the decor was clean and eyecatching and styling. Everything a great spot should be but for some reason, it was dead. Probably 8 people were inside, lots of empty tables and barseats. It felt a bit sad to be honest. If the place was more alive, the rating would have been better. My friend and I went here yesterday, because we wanted to try the buck-a-shuck oysters here. The restaurant/bar is hidden away on the second floor off of John Street. It's a dark, informal place, not very big, with coloured chalkboard and bench decor. The place doesn't take reservations, which is fine. We got there and were seated right away. It wasn't very busy. It's very loud and 90s/00s music was playing, of which I'm a big fan. We ordered 2 dozen oysters, fried rice, and their Sriracha chicken. We also each ordered a drink -- I got the Caesar and my friend got a sweet cocktail (don't remember the name). The oysters came on a bed of rice. I would have preferred it if they were served on ice and colder. They also didn't have any horse radish, but had an assortment of hot sauces. The oysters themselves were good, no fishy taste. The fried race was okay -- lots of veggies but a bit oily. The Sriracha chicken really is the star of the menu. It's tender and crispy. I am giving it 3 stars, for the reasons given above and also because the staff was not very attentive (even when the place was not busy); the portions were somewhat small; and there was not a lot of choice to the menu. It's definitely a dive bar, but it's what you expect, and I'm not faulting the place for that. But it could easily be a 4-star experience with just a bit of tweaking read more

Really tender. I preferred the white/green dipping sauce to the sriracha though. Got a large mango salad also - good for sharing b/w two to round off a full meal. Nice flavor but fairly standard. We came here on a week night and it was SO packed. Service was understandably slow, considering the ratio of customer-to-server. Their buck-a-shuck that day was from New Brunswick. They were a bit old and odd tasting. However, the fixings that came with the oyster were fantastic: cilantro, fish sauce, a few fried noodles, a spicy chili, and the oysters were on a bed of decoration rice. The $5 spring rolls were disappointing. They were 3 teeny tiny things, slightly bigger than a cigarette, and not very tasty. The mango salad from the other table looked quite decent. We probably won't be coming back because it was uncomfortably packed, even on a weeknight. My favourite was the one with rum and coconut in it, which was so refreshing and made me feel as if I was on vacation on a beach. I had my first taste of Bang Sue last night whilst waiting for a table downstairs at the always busy Khao San Road and let me tell you it was really cook! Totally different vibe and offerings and if I hadn't put my name on the list downstairs I probably would have stayed for a full meal! The cocktail list was great and beer selection was extensive and affordable. They have a good amount of food options too. We tried the Sriracha fried chicken and it was one of the best I've had! I will be returning to try the rest of the menu very soon. Would definitely recommend coming here for dinner and drinks.
