I came here this afternoon to buy some lunch for the first time and all of my co-workers have told me not to come here because their food is bland. Well, I ordered the Thai BBQ Chicken from their list of lunch specials and I don't find anything bland about the chicken. I found the flavor to be subtle but not bland. The wing, leg, and thigh were juicy on the inside and the skin seems to have just the right elasticity and texture--not mushy, not tough but just right. The breast was a bit dry but aside from that, it tasted fine. It also came with an egg fried rice in the shape of a small bowl and a small mixed salad with dressing. The egg fried rice, though its ingredients are nothing special, tasted particularly good to me but your mileage may vary. The salad isn't anything special: just diced lettuce, carrots, and eggplant with a yellow dressing. I think the main ingredient in the dressing is "egg" that really brings out the flavor in the dressing. It's indescribable except that egg flavor and I LOVE EGGS. I wouldn't be surprised if they used the same dressing to brush over their wontons and to use it as the "glue" to close up the wonton before dunking them in soup. Based on this one experience, I would say that the food here is more "bland" relative to other Thai restaurants that I've eaten at. Don't get me wrong though. It's still good but if you're expecting the food to be bold in taste and flavor, you're better off going to the Thai BBQ & Seafood restaurant right by Amar and Azusa. Now, I am by no means an expert in Thai food but usually the blander something tastes, the more "authentic" it is because bold flavors and meat smothered and covered in sauce tends to be an American thing. I'm not saying that Thai people can't cook food with bold flavors but the sauces or spices aren't supposed to overwhelm the meat or the rice. It's supposed to supplement it and bring out the taste and natural flavors of the chicken and the rice. In any case, I thought the BBQ chicken and egg fried rice were flavorful enough on their own. My lunch did come with a small cup of sweet and sour sauce placed inside the box, which I didn't use but it was a nice gesture. I'll definitely be coming back here for my afternoon lunch from now on. It's fairly cheap $6.25 + tax for the lunch special. They do tack on an additional $1.00 fee if you use your credit card for any purchases under $10 so please take note of that. Other than that, if you work near Lemon and Valley Blvd and don't want to drive too far for a quick lunch, come here. Otherwise, for those looking for bolder tasting Thai food, go to the one near Amar and Azusa. read more

i went to this place when i was in the area because of the 4 star rank and i was dissapointed. the only thing i can think is that the majority of the reviewers are not asian. i had the pad thai lunch. the salad had some kind of honey mustard type dressing that was dissapointing to see in an asian restaurant. and the salad was pure iceberg, not very appetizing. im not an expert on thai cuisine but the pad thai was overwhelmingly sweet and lacked spicing. it stopped being appetizing about halfway in. and the noodles were weird, they were hard to grab with chopsticks. perhaps an issue of using old/dry noodles or improper cooking technique? the fried rice was completely forgettable. and there seemed to be only one hot sauce rack thing that ppl had hand around the tables.. unprofessional. the food is 1/5 but im giving 2 cos the waiter was working his buns off. he was polite in a caricature-esque way but i like to see hard workers. the decor was not bad also. semi classy yet cozy read more

They have great food and a friendly staff. We go here almost weekly to enjoy their lunch specials and are never disappointed. Portions are great for the price. They even know my voice when I call in we go so much. Not many great Thai food restaurants in the area, so I'm glad to have this little gem close to our home. read more

My favorite Thai place in Diamond Bar closed, and I used to eat here when my boyfriend lived in Walnut. My boyfriend stops by here when he is on the way home from school. Twice now, they've ran out of BBQ chicken when we ordered it... Kind of annoying, as that is probably the only thing that is good here. I don't understand why their combos come with Chinese food sides like chow mein. Isn't the place called Bangkok BBQ? This place shouldn't even be called Bangkok BBQ if you don't even have BBQ to serve! This place has incredibly slow service and they even forgot one of our food orders. We asked them at least three times and we waited over an hour for our missing dish. Also the pad Thai was overly sweet to the point where I couldn't even eat it. Not coming back here anytime soon. read more

I've experienced better. The waiter was kind of a dick and they take FOREVER to bring out your food. Not to mention if you plan on ordering ahead of time by calling, they WON"T make it till you come, thinking you can just go in and get out. Ordered a few items including green curry to go last week. Got home and found no steam rice. Called them and they said none of the items we ordered came with steam rice, including the green curry. I asked them how we should eat the curry without any rice and the explanation they had for me was their owner is a "foreigner" so it doesn't come with rice. I am not from Thailand either but i eat my curry with rice, not like a soup. read more

Go for the lunch specials. The portions are huge! I ordered the pad thai combo which came with a small salad. The dressing on the salad was so good. All this for under 7 bucks! What a bargain. Use to be a good spot and was even a regular here for a while. Lately though the service has been horrible and I've given them several chances. Run in number 1 was when I ordered mango and sticky rice at the beginning of our meal and at the end of our meal they did not bring it to us. Upon asking, several times, and about 10 minutes later and only after I said let's cancel the order did they say it was in the back and would be ready to go. Run in number 2 is when the person I was eating with ordered her dish and I had finished eating and she still didn't get her meal. Waitress gave us the bill for both meals even though we didn't get the second meal. Upon asking them what happened, they said they gave her meal to someone else without apology or even an offer for a discount. Very poor service. Will not be coming back here and if you want dependable food service DO NOT EAT HERE. Twice is enough for me to know it's no good. read more

I have been to this place so many times, and my favorite is Lad Na (Big flat noodle with the gravy sauce) and Noodle Tom Yum Soup. The service is ok, because only one server at front only. If busy, you got to wait for a while. If not busy, you would get the best service. But, the food are worth for waiting. read more

Authentic Thai with lots of love! I've been going here since I was a kid and it never gets old. I'm in love with there shrimp fried rice (extra spicy) and coconut soup with chicken. I dont think I've had chicken so tender until I had there soup. It was melt in your mouth and the chillis and lemongrass just linger.... Omg my mouth is watering thinking about it. i love getting bangkok bbq whenever i crave thai food! they have a really good yellow curry, which comes in hefty portions. the pad see ew is really good too. we get it with extra scrambled eggs, yum! i am a big fan of their egg rolls too. the papaya salad is super spicy, which was a bummer because i can't eat spicy foods. the food is priced fairly, and comes in reasonable portions. i usually get take out, so i've never really had to deal with servers. the owner is really nice though. she lets me and my boyfriend pay for our orders over the phone. perks of being a regular!! hooray! read more

The chicken satay used to be very soft and tender but the past few time I got it, it was really dry and even the pad see ew chicken was dry and the noodle was kinda hard. My family has been order take out at Bangkok BBQ for almost ten years. They have been in Walnut for a long time, and I think its still the same family that owes it too. Whenever we're too lazy to cook or go out, Bangkok BBQ does the trick. There are plenty of Thai restaurants to choose from around the area, but I keep coming back here because their food is always consistent. I have yet to experience a bad day from them. This place was very rude. My friends and I just walked into the restaurant to get some food to go, and the 2 female workers there obviously showed that they didnt want us there. It was me and 5 other friends and there were only tables of 4, at most 5 when pulled a chair. We didnt have enough people so 2 others just sat at another table. Then one of the staff came to us and very rudely said "can you all sit at one table? PLEASE?!" Afterwards when our take out was brought to us, she said "all done. Now go, go." Shooing us out. Not your typical authentic Thai food. I recently moved into the area and I am all about supporting local business. However, the Tom Yum soup here does not taste anything like the typical Tom Yum soup you find at a Thai restaurant. It was bland, didn't have a hint of sour, no lemon grass aroma and no Tom Yum flavor. I've had quite a lot of Tom Yum soups and this is the worse place. The Pineapple fried rice had too much curry powder and turned out spicy. It was definitely not the typical authentic pineapple fried rice. If you're craving for Thai food and live in the area, it might be best to drive 10-15 mins to West Covina or Rowland Heights for Thai food. I'm curious to know how this place can stay in business? I'm assuming it could be their budget friendly lunch special which keeps them in business? read more

I've tried a number of dishes here and among the things I have every time is their chicken satay. The condiments are fresh and tasty. I'm not a fan of crushed peanuts in any of my food and have to remember to tell them not to add them in some of the dishes however that's a personal preference. I understand that the cost of having a soda fountain may be a little costly for a mom n pop place but to charge more than .75 cents is crazy! The place is local, great lunch specials and not too pricey either. The food is good. I like their ad Thai as well as their fried rices.
