Upon arriving, there is no sign that says wait to be seating nor a hostess stand up front, so you walk in and you're kind of confused on to wait to be seated or seat yourself. Lol small places maybe about the tables total. I chose to sit down and a few minutes later a server came and gave me a menu. They have amazing cheap lunch deals. Pick an appetizer, then your lunch, then your drink. All for like $9 bucks . Not a bad deal. I chose the spring roll and pad thai. It was amazing. Haven't had pad Thai like this in months. I'll definitely be back, service and wait time is a little slow I must add, so don't go here in a rush lunch lol. I attempted ordering takeout at 905pm Sunday via phone but no answers after calling twice. I was nearby so I walked in at 910 and was told (by what appeared to be the host sitting at a table on her phone) they're closed at 9pm. The door clearly states 930pm closing. While I understand the back of house doesn't want to take last minute orders, it should be noted on the establishment and website when they stop taking orders. This is just bad customer service. Bangkok Thai has an expansive menu and great deals for lunch as well- you can get basil fried rice, pad thai- basically any staple with a protein, option of appetizer (fried tofu, chicken satay, spring roll) AND a thai tea on the side for just $9! Great bang for buck; the tofu was a bit dry as an appetizer so I would pick one of the other ones. Thai tea is also a bit sweet but just let the ice melt a bit and you'll be good. We also had the pad thai, but that might have too much ketchup- definitely go for one of the other options anyway since there is so much to choose from! What really made this experience unique as that they had bangkok spaghetti on the menu- reminds me of a childhood dish my parents used to make when they stir fry spaghetti (kind of like a spaghetti lo mein). I settled for the spicy spaghetti since it comes with different vegetables compared to the regular, but it is quite hot, next time I will get the non spicy option and ask if I can substitute a vegetable. For the uniqueness and lunch specials alone, I would say this is a place to try! read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant since I am Thai and I saw it had Thai staff to provide an authentic experience, but was quite disappointed. I ordered the Tom Yum seafood soup and my husband ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken stir fry. This was the most bland Tom Yum soup I've ever tasted. The broth had nothing that tasted like Tom Yum. The S & S stir fry was ok, not great since the "sweet" was a bit overbearing. As a Thai born individual I've had this soup many, many different locations around the world and this was not good. I understand certain ingredients may not be available during the pandemic, but I was quite disappointed to experience this low quality taste in a restaurant. Bangkok Thai continuously delivers on excellent, delicious Thai food! Whether dining in or ordering out, Bangkok Thai always hits the spot!! It has truly become a staple during quarantine. (We even got it for a birthday dinner.) We love everything on the menu, but the Pad Thai is a always a classic go-to. Be careful, the spice level gets hot quick! We've also tried their Thai Fried Rice and Drunken Noodles and really enjoyed them. The Thai Fried Rice is authentic and sweet and fragrant. The Drunken Noodles may be my least favorite, just because it is a little less flavorful than the other Thai dishes, but still good nonetheless. The portions are also HUGE - and enough for leftovers the next day! Bangkok Thai is the best Thai place I have yet to try in Raleigh - I highly recommend it for anyone in the mood for some good Thai food! You will not be disappointed! read more

We enjoy coming here for authentic Thai food. Moving from the DC area we were not sure if we would find a Thai place that we liked, and we were incredibly lucky to try Bangkok Thai on our first try. The portions are generous the quality is great and the prices are very reasonable. From the appetizers to the main courses to the noodle soups we have tried most of the menu and we have never been disappointed in any of our choices. I have reviewed this restaurant in the past. I thought I would give them another try. Once again I leave dissatisfied. The meal was so hot I could NOT eat it. When bringing this up to the waiter he said it was only 3/10. Nope - I enjoy spicy food at Indian restaurants, Chinese, Thai, Korean, etc.. The chef got heavy handed with the chili pepper as my dish was floating in red. I tried to dilute with rice but it just wasn't edible. The waiter didn't come back to check on us. About 15 minutes later a waitress showed up with the bill and asked if I needed a box. I told her no because I couldn't eat it. Then she walked away with major attitude and said she would have the chef make a new one. At this point I just wanted to go. But she didn't give me the opportunity to tell her not to bother. About 10 minutes later she brings the food out on a plate and I kindly asked her to just box it up as I had to leave. She spun around with attitude again. By the way, this particular girl is the individual that was so hateful the last time I reviewed this restaurant. Lesson learned. The servers there act miserable to be working and they don't want their patrons happy. Will not be back! Going back to Lemongrass - they make consistently delicious food and seem appreciative to have my business. I will drive the extra 10 minutes not to deal with rude ungrateful attitude. read more

We love their Pad Thai and especially that we can choose our heat levels. I love super spicy foods, my wife likes it kinda spicy, and the kids not really spicy at all. We can all order and choose the heat level and get it just the way we like it. The shrimp dumplings are great too! read more

My family and I visited this restaurant last night. The place is small and clean, not very busy... but we went off the reviews of others and decided to try it. The egg rolls were dry for beginners. Then we all started receiving our food and one by one to our surprise dishes that we had received from Thai restaurants from San Francisco to North Carolina... came out looking nothing like we were used to. My cashew nut had No flavor, my sons pad se ew was wet like , texture was bad and the flavor was not there, my guy ordered a vegetable dish that came out with 75% cabbage 10% onions then a few broccoli and carrots... WTF! My Daughter ordered garlic sautéed broccoli... she received broccoli covered in chunks of that already minced garlic you get from the store with little to no sauce. And then there was the Drunken noodle.. oh my goodness it was top ramen like with ramen flavor, I sent that back straight away. We all made the best of it and ate what we could.. to be honest I was emotional and pissed that we had just wasted 85$ on that mess. The people who have written reviews prior to mine have NO IDEA what Thai food is supposed to taste like... it is delicious.. and this place DOES NOT HAVE IT. She also brought us out white wine when we clearly asked for red and charged for the white after taking three Trips to finally get two glasses of red on the table. I am fan of authentic food. This place came across as not that. When I ask for Thai hot, I expect lots of flavor and lots of heat and I got neither. They didn't even have the dishes of Thai chili powder where you can meter out more flavor. When asked for it, they gave me crushed red pepper. That is not Thai chili powder. The food is a little salty for my taste. However, it just may be me and my preferences. The place was busy and the people there seemed to enjoy it. This restaurant has pros and cons. I tried to order online a few hours ahead of time, but they would not let you place a pick-up online order until the restaurant opened, which was odd to me. As for the food we got crispy veggie rolls, calamari, Lad Na, Pad thai, thai basil, and spicy eggplant. I will start with the cons dealing with food. The crispy egg rolls were good, but we only got 3 tiny rolls for $4.55... crazy expensive for that and not worth it. The Lad Na had ZERO flavor... tasted like water with a brown color and overcooked thin pieces of beef... The noodles also all stuck together, so I would have appreciate if they added a small bit of oil to make them not clump. I would absolutely not recommend the Lad Na again. As for the pros- the calamari had nice breading and great flavor. The thai basil was probably the best, although not spicy at all. The spicy eggplant had good heat to it and flavor was great. Pad thai flavoring was great, but not enough sauce to keep the noodles from just clumping together. Overall I would try this restaurant again for the thai basil and pad thai, but would want to look for better thai restaurants before. read more

I was excited to see the poster in the window that said this new Thai place would be opening on 1/7. I talked the hubs into checking it out tonight, since Thai food is my all time favorite. We pulled up to the restaurant to see two giddy girls coming out with a to go order and made our way inside. We stood at the entry, just inside the door, seeing no one for about 5 minutes. I leaned to the right to attempt to get noticed by someone in the kitchen, but it wasn't doing anything. (They may need to get one of those ding dong warning mechanisms on the front door so they know when we're waiting.) Finally the waitress came forward from the kitchen and confirmed it would be two for dinner. We were seated at the back of the restaurant which is very sparsely, but modernly decorated. We enjoyed the simplistic look and were excited for the menu. Their menu has appetizers, soups, Thai salads, lunch features (including a sampling, which is like an appetizer, and a drink for $8), currys, noodle dishes, rice dishes, and desserts. We each selected an appetizer and a dinner so we could try a variety of their dishes. Apps were around $4 and dinners were mostly priced at $11. I ordered the fresh rolls, which are like the imperial rolls I am used too with fresh shrimp, lettuce, carrots, rice noodles, and fresh rice paper - only they add avocado - nice touch! Hubs ordered the spring rolls. They were lightly fried and delightfully crunchy! We both enjoyed our apps and the choices we'd made. For dinner I selected the panang curry and hubs picked out the fried rice. Mine came out a few minutes before his, and I could not resist digging in. He gave me the okay and I dove in. The curry was good and had just the right heat. Although the portion was a bit small for the protein and veggies, the flavor was good and the meal was satisfying. Hubs' rice also seemed like a small portion but contained a good amount of fresh vegetables including various peppers and onions. He wished it had a bit more spice, but the flavor was still good. Hubs really enjoyed his Thai Iced Tea and my hot green tea was constantly refilled. When we were given our check we were also handed a frequent visitor card that offers a stamp for every dinner meal purchased and a reward of a free meal on the 6th and 12th visits. We're excited to have some Thai food this far north of downtown Raleigh (since we live out in the farm land) and cannot wait to go back and try some more items off their menu. read more

We ordered from here through Postmates. We ordered 3 lunch portions, $8.55 each, but after the order was complete we saw it was changed and our subtotal ended up being $58 with a $12 service charge. This is ridiculous. We called and told them what happened and were basically told that since our Postmate ARRIVED after 3 they didn't do lunch anymore and gave us the dinner portion. They should have called us! Nobody asked us if that was acceptable! This isn't the only time we've had trouble with this place. Multiple times we received the wrong order and were basically told it was Postmate's fault. You're telling me the restaurant can't do ANYTHING about this? This looks like just a small little Thai place tucked in between a few other places in the shopping center. When you walk in it is in fact small. None the less, intimate. We ordered the Tom Yum Gai and the Tom Kai Gai soup (spicy) which was excellent. Then we ordered the Beef Pad Thai and the chicken Pad Thai, although the beef dish was not as good as we thought it would be. I ordered a Thai tea in Mango flavor. The wait for food was not over 10 minutes and she was attentive on our refills. Nice little spot to check out. The wife and I took a day trip to Raleigh to visit her side of the family and decided to grab dinner before heading back down I-40. I was feeling sick so we decided to Yelp a restaurant with soup and this is what we found. This is the first time I have eaten Thai food since spending three months in Thailand earlier this year. No it was not as good but I wasn't disappointed. I ordered fried tofu as an app and my wife ordered her favorite crab ragoons. The fried tofu was perfect, crispy and not greasy or limp. My wife was not pleased that the ragoons contained carrots and only ate half of them. We also ordered a bowl of tofu soup and the Yum yum duck to share. The soup was AMAZING and super cheap! My wife loved how fresh the ingredients were and it was very flavorful without being overpowering. The Yum yum duck was not what I had in mind. I love duck but this was more of a cold salad with luke warm duck and the fresh ingredients were over powered by the fish sauce and lime. We politely let the waitress know we did not like the entree and wanted to order something else. She didnt seem to understand so I tried to tell her in Thai but I think that only confused her more. She excused her self and brought another waitress over who took our new order of Pad Thai with chicken. The new entree came out very quickly. My wife and I both enjoyed it however it doesnt come close to the pad thai I had in Thailand. The venue is small and hidden inside a strip mall but the decor is warm and inviting. I came here while visiting North Carolina (I reside in CT, this review is based on what I'm used to in another state so my opinions may not match up with local's opinions). The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly and made sure throughout our meal if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. Second, the menu had many options to choose from. The prices were super cheap! In CT, it costs about $40 for two people to eat Thai food. Here, our check came out to $45 for three people to eat. My boyfriend and I did the Pre Fixe menu which included two individual appetizers(we both ordered Tom Ka Gai which was okay), a shared appetizer (we chose gyoza which was delicious!) and two entrees (I had Massaman Curry which was good and he ordered Drunken Noodle which was great)...this came out to $29.
