I have been in search of the best banh mi in San Francisco and I think I've found it. There are so many banh mi in the city but the biggest difference to me is the homemade mayonnaise vs. the jarred ones. The other things that stood out about their sandwich was the crispy baguette with the perfect ratio of meat to daikon/ carrot. Unfortunately I haven't found too many places in San Francisco that used Vietnamese mayo so I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I order the classic combo Dac biet and it was solid. My favorite banh mi in SF! Filling to bread ratio is excellent and the bread itself is sturdy and doesn't leave you with a lap full of crumbs which I appreciate. The location is very convenient for everyone around Glen park. They took over the Viking giant submarine store. They were accommodating to those of us that are waiting for bus. I am so obsessed with this place! I ordered the beef banh mi and it was so good. The bread was perfectly toasted, the lemongrass flavor really came through, and all the toppings were balanced and proportioned just right. It's a cute little grab-and-go spot, and although parking can be tricky I was able to find a space in the neighborhood just a block away. The shop is right in front of the glen park bart station and a bus stop so it's very convenient. I came around 1pm on a Thursday and noticed a consistent flow of customers + people calling in orders. I'm so glad I tried this place - this will definitely be my go-to neighborhood banh mi spot! read more

First time my team had takeout delivered to my work, and my sandwich was amazingly delicious! I had the tofu banh mi, which had fried tofu, cilantro, cucumber, pickled radish/carrots, Vietnamese mayo, and jalapeño on a fresh baguette I was so hungry that I forgot to take a pic, but every bite was yummy. It was a big sandwich, so I ate half for lunch and saved half for dinner, and it was great both times. I just popped it in the air fryer and the bread was perfect! The tofu was perfectly marinated and seasoned. They put enough of it on the sandwich for it to be really filling. Stumbled upon this place during my lunch break one day and I'd thought I'd give it a try. I'm not a banh mi person so the next best thing they sold was vermicelli. So I got myself the beef and OMG the flavors were all there!! It was so good that I went back the next day and had to try the chicken. Once again the flavor was all there. Place is really small, literally and mom & pop place but it's sooooo cute aesthetic wise! The son who takes your order is really nice & sweet. Possibly the best cold cut banh my in SF . Banh my is always one of my absolute favorites (and a guilty pleasure to eat when I'm good with my diet ). Banh Mi Viet has been my go-to lunchtime take-out option for close to a year now. I primarily get the beef banh mi but I've had the pork and that's pretty solid too. My partner gets the tofu banh mi and she loves it. The menu is short and to the point: banh mi, spring rolls, a couple rice plates, and Viet coffee. And that's enough for me. Admittedly, the convenience of ordering online (usually Grubhub) and its proximity to my home is a big selling point. I'm always on the search for the perfect banh mi and I'm so happy that there is now one close to my house! It hits all the notes of the perfect banh mi - crispy toasted french baguette, perfectly pickled veggies, fresh green cucumber/cilantro/jalapenos, and tasty protein - all for under $10! Their veggie option, the tofu, is amazing. They fry their tofu and stack it high so it is a very full and filling sandwich. The baguettes are also a little bigger than other banh mi shops. The best part is it's only $8! They are currently running a new shop special, buy 3 get a free iced coffee. If you buy 4 or more sandwiches I think you get an additional sandwich free! It's in a small cute take-out only shop right across the street from Glen Park Bart, so I love grabbing one on the way home from work to eat for dinner. So convenient. Simple hole in the wall viet place close by lots of parking. Though my fiance didnt enjoy the chicken sandwich which i'd have to agree hence the 4 stars, the combination cold cuts wasn't bad, and I'd come back again for that. Really enjoyed the mayo and pate they used and it tasted fresh. The bread wasn't stale either and tasted good. The viet coffee was just ok in my opinion, too creamy imo and could taste a bit stronger but that's just me. Didn't realize this was a branch of the Banh Mi Viet on Divisadero because the signage outside still says "Viking Subs"! Spent a good minute looking around until I read Cherylynn's review about that, then I walked right inside. There's a small bench to sit on as you wait for your order as there's no dine-in option available. The banh mi has a good portion of meat and veggies, taking a bite out of it is like taking a bite out of a burger- the size is huge! They use a hollowed out toasted baguette that cuts up your mouth as per most banh mi. Not much flavor from the pickled veggies, they were mostly there for the crunch factor. The banh was was $10 and came within a couple of minutes or ordering, and is a convenient location for me. Will have to try their rice/rice noodle plates as they look decent. read more

Banh Mi Viet is the best spot in San Francisco imo. - The bread was light, crispy, not as thick as Saigon Sandwich. - Great meat - the chả lụa/ Vietnamese pork sausage has black pepper, which added flavor to the cold cuts. One of the best banh mis in SF for a very reasonable price. Don't be fooled by the outdated sign outside the store. Inside is full of plants and definitely has a modern feel. The menu is simple but has options for vegetarians and pescatarians. I got the pork banh mi. It takes a while to get your sandwich, but that's because the meat is fried to order. It was delicious and huge. Full of bright herbs and pickles, and the bread isn't so crusty that it rips up your mouth, but still has a great bite. They have this pork with the peppercorns that add a nice flavor and the baguette they use is nice and fresh with a slight crisp and chew. You can order it with extra pate too! Me and my partner were waiting for the Muni when we noticed a Banh Mi restaurant across the street and we were a little hungry so we decided to check the place out! It's a small place with nowhere to sit and eat, it's a grab and go type of situation. Nobody else was there when we went inside so it didn't take long for our food to be made. A young man took our order and he kindly explained the ingredients to my partner who'd never eaten a banh mi before. We ended up ordering the beef banh mi and a bottle of water. The total rang up to under $10 which is pretty rare for a banh mi this size in SF. The bread was SO soft, usually the bread will stab the roof of my mouth but not this one, it was nice and pillowy soft. The pickled vegetables were delicious and the cucumber slices added the bit of freshness the sandwich needed. Usually it would come with cilantro and jalapeño as well but I opted out since I'm not a big fan. Onto the star of the sandwich, the beef! It was succulent and tender, packed full of flavor. They did not skimp on the meat as you can see in the photo. You can taste the lemongrass used to cook the beef and the sweet and tangy sauce they used. It was delicious!
