Delish banh mi's here! I ordered the beef banh mi and it was so flavorful with the perfect ratio of veggies. The baguette was crunchy but not too hard. I even saved half of it for later bc it was so long! For $10 I would come back if I was in the area. I also got a Thai tea which was more milky than I preferred but it was still good. Seating is limited but there are some benches outside or you can sit at the bart station across the way.
There are lots of place in San Francisco to grab different types of sandwiches. It seems there many neighborhood stores in San Francisco which offers Banh Mi. There is one place across the street from the Glen Park BART which offers yummy Banh Mi along with rice plates with beef or chicken along vermicelli noodle platters. You can also get a pick me up drink with their Vietnamese. It's called Banh Mi Viet. On a Winter stroll in the Glen Park Village in San Francisco there is a place which is a hidden gem on Diamond street. This place has some of my favorite Vietnamese sandwiches also known as Banh Mi. I got the Duc Biet. It was flakey like some in SF. It had a crispy crunchy baguette with savory cold cuts like fancy pork and honey ham and pate. It also had head cheese like some in SF. Overall this is the spot to get some consistent Banh Mi if you are in Glen Park. Go on a Winter "stroll"the week after the "Super Bowl "and do a "Spring roll" and a Banh Mi with some "cilantro" This place got good Banh Mi you won't "regret" this place is called "Banh Mi Viet "and has some many different meats you can "get "along some veggies between a fresh "baguette"

The bread was about 9 or 10in, so pretty large. Sandwich was pretty good, plenty of filling. I think the meat sauce is a bit sweet, but the meat was tender, not too fatty. The veggies were fresh, carrots were slightly pickled too. I really enjoyed the Thai tea, not too sweet with a strong tea flavor. Overall, I want to go back for the cold vermicelli noodles with meat.

The location is very convenient for everyone around Glen park. They took over the Viking giant submarine store. They were accommodating to those of us that are waiting for bus. Since they were kind of busy, I mentioned my bus is coming so they made my sandwich first. It was nice of them to do that. The sandwich itself is delicious. The bread is crunchy but still soft. It is a small shop but perfect for take out orders.
My favorite banh mi in SF! Filling to bread ratio is excellent and the bread itself is sturdy and doesn't leave you with a lap full of crumbs which I appreciate. I love the combo but friends have gotten and enjoyed other sandwiches as well. I love that they have certain deals like a sandwich + coffee for $13 which is a pretty good deal for SF standards. This is hands down the best bánh mì I've had in San Francisco. The meat-to-bread ratio is incredible -- the sandwich is generously packed with beef and super satisfying. The flavors are beautifully balanced: a little sweet, a little spicy, with a bright tangy kick. As you keep eating, you can even notice the fresh aroma of lemongrass. Absolutely delicious. I'm very particular about bánh mì baguettes -- they shouldn't be too thick. I like them light, airy, and shatteringly crisp on the outside. The bread here is exactly how it should be, and it even looks beautiful. Everything just works. I'll definitely be coming back.

The bread was perfectly toasted, the lemongrass flavor really came through, and all the toppings were balanced and proportioned just right. It's a cute little grab-and-go spot, and although parking can be tricky I was able to find a space in the neighborhood just a block away. The shop is right in front of the glen park bart station and a bus stop so it's very convenient. I came around 1pm on a Thursday and noticed a consistent flow of customers + people calling in orders. I'm so glad I tried this place - this will definitely be my go-to neighborhood banh mi spot!
Stumbled upon this place during my lunch break one day and I'd thought I'd give it a try. I'm not a banh mi person so the next best thing they sold was vermicelli. So I got myself the beef and OMG the flavors were all there!! It was so good that I went back the next day and had to try the chicken. Once again the flavor was all there. Place is really small, literally and mom & pop place but it's sooooo cute aesthetic wise! The son who takes your order is really nice & sweet. I wish they had 1 or 2 sitting areas at least, just so their food can be enjoyed at the time of purchase. Nevertheless, I'll be back if I'm in the area again.

Saturday random find. Price is worth it! Size too. Food: Got the grilled pork banh mi and it was flavorful perfection. Added extra jalapeños, daikon, and carrots for that crunch...and veggie intake, plus probiotics= HEALTH. The bread was incredibly crunchy and flaky. You could tell everything was fresh. Tried the extra sauce option: sweet and thick, but heads up....it's oily and creates a BIG mess. Left my fingers super sticky. Mayo was equally thick. Service: Quick and efficient. The kiosk system made ordering a breeze and let me customize exactly how I wanted my sandwich. Ambiance: Small space with bench seating for two, but clean and welcoming. The living wall is beautiful and adds a nice touch. Pro tip: take your sandwich to the outdoor seating area at Canyon Market, a quick 1-block walk away. Would come back if parking is easy. read more
Right across the street from the Glen Park BART station on a busy street. You'll need to find parking around the corner. Small place with no where to sit so it is basically take out. You have a choice of ordering on the screen or with the person at the counter. I ordered the # Cold Cut Banh Mi and the spring rolls. You get two spring rolls with shrimp in it. I liked the peanut sauce that came with it. Tastes fresh. Sandwich was good size - typical for SF, not a giant one like ones in San Jose. The bread was fresh and crunchy. Overall good flavor though not much pate taste. Good choice for banh min if you are in the area. read more
4.5 stars Banh Mi Viet is a small, togo only spot serving mainly sandwiches located across the street from Glen Park BART. Sandwich choices (all $10) include dac biet (combo), beef, pork, chicken, tofu, or fish cake. There's also a rice plate, vermicelli and spring roll option. I order the dac biet sandwich which consisted of cold cuts, pate, jalapeño, pickled veggies, cucumber and cilantro. The sandwich was good! For the price, there was a generous amount of filling. The baguette was nice and flakey. Don't forget to order a coffee because it's so good here! My favorite banh mi in SF! Filling to bread ratio is excellent and the bread itself is sturdy and doesn't leave you with a lap full of crumbs which I appreciate. This is hands down the best bánh mì I've had in San Francisco. The meat-to-bread ratio is incredible -- the sandwich is generously packed with beef and super satisfying. The flavors are beautifully balanced: a little sweet, a little spicy, with a bright tangy kick. As you keep eating, you can even notice the fresh aroma of lemongrass. Absolutely delicious. I'm very particular about bánh mì baguettes -- they shouldn't be too thick. I like them light, airy, and shatteringly crisp on the outside. Stumbled upon this place during my lunch break one day and I'd thought I'd give it a try. I'm not a banh mi person so the next best thing they sold was vermicelli. So I got myself the beef and OMG the flavors were all there!! It was so good that I went back the next day and had to try the chicken. Once again the flavor was all there. Possibly the best cold cut banh my in SF . Banh my is always one of my absolute favorites (and a guilty pleasure to eat when I'm good with my diet ). It's probably one of a very rare stores that I'm willing to drive to just pick up a sandwich. Surprisingly, finding a parking spot around Glen Park is not that hard as I imagined too ^^. They usually have a combo with Thai iced tea of vietnamese coffee and their thai iced tea is usually not too sweet (Which I prefer for my health ). read more

I'm always on the search for the perfect banh mi and I'm so happy that there is now one close to my house! It hits all the notes of the perfect banh mi - crispy toasted french baguette, perfectly pickled veggies, fresh green cucumber/cilantro/jalapenos, and tasty protein - all for under $10! Their veggie option, the tofu, is amazing. They fry their tofu and stack it high so it is a very full and filling sandwich. The baguettes are also a little bigger than other banh mi shops. The best part is it's only $8! They are currently running a new shop special, buy 3 get a free iced coffee. If you buy 4 or more sandwiches I think you get an additional sandwich free! It's in a small cute take-out only shop right across the street from Glen Park Bart, so I love grabbing one on the way home from work to eat for dinner. So convenient. Note: the awning still says Viking Subs, the previous tenant. The power duo behind this shop, looks like a mom & son partner and they help each other taking orders and making sandwiches. They are already getting super busy so I recommend calling in your order and then picking it up about 15 min later. read more

The best thing I like about their sandwiches are the moist meat and juiciness. Please don't change the recipe! If you pay cash it's $10 even for a chicken bahn mi. It's a little different from when they first opened but still good. I liked it more when you gave more cilantro and cucumber and so that's my only gripe. read more

Didn't realize this was a branch of the Banh Mi Viet on Divisadero because the signage outside still says "Viking Subs"! Spent a good minute looking around until I read Cherylynn's review about that, then I walked right inside. There's a small bench to sit on as you wait for your order as there's no dine-in option available. The banh mi has a good portion of meat and veggies, taking a bite out of it is like taking a bite out of a burger- the size is huge! They use a hollowed out toasted baguette that cuts up your mouth as per most banh mi. Not much flavor from the pickled veggies, they were mostly there for the crunch factor. The banh was was $10 and came within a couple of minutes or ordering, and is a convenient location for me. Will have to try their rice/rice noodle plates as they look decent. read more

Banh Mi Viet is the best spot in San Francisco imo. - The bread was light, crispy, not as thick as Saigon Sandwich. - Great meat - the chả lụa/ Vietnamese pork sausage has black pepper, which added flavor to the cold cuts. The grilled beef with lemongrass was so good, well marinated. - Đồ chua/ pickles were crunchy, not too sour. - They didn't use Maggie soy sauce but a special, thicker sauce which was so flavorful. - The pork floss was good but a bit dry. Friendly service. I would definitely go back to support them. Come here if you want authentic bánh mì in San Francisco. read more

3.5 STARS I've been on a Viet food kick lately but driving an hour to E Man Jose is not always feasible...so when a Bánh Mì shop opens less than 5 minutes from home *hooray emoji*. Save monies on gas...to spend on more food! Opening in the former Viking's Giant Submarine (owners retired) is Bánh Mì Việt 2. Their original location is on Divis. The Viking's storefront/awning hasn't changed, it's still there. It doesn't even appear a new business is there unless you walk by and look in. They're open every day from 10 am - 5 pm for takeout only. No delivery. No dine-in. M E N U * Bánh Mì: Dặc Biệt (combo cold cuts), Chicken, Beef, Tofu, Fish Cake, Beef or Chicken Teriyaki ($8-$10) * Goi Cuôn: Viet Spring Rolls - Chicken, Shrimp, or Tofu ($6-$7) * Entrees: Bánh Cuốn/Bánh Ướt: Viet Rice Noodle Rolls, Cơm Đĩa: Rice plates, and Bún: Cold vermicelli bowl ($12 each) * Drinks: Viet coffee, juices, and smoothies CC's accepted. After several tries, I think theirs is just not my jam. They hollow out the baguette too much so when it's toasted, it gets dry and crunchy like a cracker. You don't get the crispy soft contrast. What makes their bánh mì different than other shops is they add pork floss (think pork cotton candy). While it adds umami, it makes the bánh mì saltier and drier than the norm even with extra egg butter (viet mayo cut w/ butter). Their pickled radish/carrots are on-point tho, punchy and acidic with a kiss of sweetness. IMO, Ty Sandwich in The Excelsior has the most solid bánh mì for the south side of the city. * Rice Plate: 1/2 Lemongrass Chicken & 1/2 Lemongrass Beef ($12): https://tinyurl.com/4f9a8pwm Good value and hearty portion. The proteins had a nice citrusy ginger flavor but you can tell the chicken (skinless thigh), beef, and rice were cooked awhile back and was reheated to order. The proteins and rice were quite dried out and this was at 12:30 pm lunchtime. Nước chấm (fish dipping sauce) runs sweet. S E R V I C E Friendly and prompt. I called in my order and was quoted 10 minutes. It was ready in 10 minutes on the dot. A M B I A N C E Takeout only operation. P A R K I N G There's one loading zone space on the block so you can run in and grab your order. Otherwise, gotta find parking across the street near Canyon Market. Overall, I think Bánh Mì Việt 2 is an ok option if you're getting on/off Bart at the Glen Park Station (across the street). Or, if you live in the area and don't have a car to drive elsewhere when the bánh mì craving hits. 3 stars for the food and adding .5 stars and rounding up for a new local small business. read more
