Good ratio of meat to veggie and there's options to add extra veggie/meat if you'd like at a cost. I will say the portion size runs slightly smaller but it was perfect for me! Meat was very tender #20 bbq pork with egg roll: huge portions, though a good amount of it was noodle, tender and flavorful meat. The highlight is definitely the fried egg roll! I'm usually not a fan of egg rolls because I don't love things that're super fried but somehow the egg rolls were perfectly fried without being too overwhelming, and the stuffing had some nice spice flavor. Paired well with meat and noodles! Coffee: I'm not much of a coffee drinker but I had a few sips of their Vietnamese coffee and it was yummy! Not too sweet, not too strong. Service: extremely efficient especially with everything made to order. Our banh mi was out in less than three minutes! #20 took a bit longer but that's because they make everything to order. Still less than 10 minutes for it to cook. Seems to be a small mom and pop shop. Person taking our order Joseph was super sweet! Offered for us to call and order next time to go and didn't rush for us to pay at all. Keep in mind it's cash preferred but they have Venmo and zelle too. No credit cards accepted here. Ambiance: more of a grab and go place. They did have one table and a few chairs and we sat down to eat but I'd recommend getting to go and going out for a picnic. Price: good price point! Banhwich has all the charm of a wonderful, small, family-run restaurant. The service was fast and super friendly! Just a heads-up that they are cash-only, but they accept Venmo and Zelle. Indoor seating is very limited, but there's a small park just a block away with picnic tables. I ordered the combination pork, the BBQ pork banh mi, and a Vietnamese iced coffee. Both sandwiches were absolutely solid, but the grilled pork was standout for me! As for the coffee, I'd probably pass on it next time. It was pretty busy. Placed our order for a couple of combinations and a pate, as well as the rice noodles (#23). Order took about 20 minutes to be ready. Light, crispy bread. The banh mi were reasonably priced, but contained more vegetables than meat. Would've liked more pate in the pate banh mi so more of that flavor came through vs the vegetables. Came in today for an easy lunch to take to the beach... Pros- very friendly service. Reasonably priced (8.95 per sandwich), they cut a slit on the container for the egg rolls, so they don't become too soggy! Relatively fast service. And while it's cash only, also offer the option to use Venmo or Zelle, which I appreciated! And if you don't have time for the beach, there's a small park nearby where you can enjoy your food (McCoppin Square, next to the library). Cons- it's on a busy street, so parking maybe hard. My #20 egg roll, BBQ pork vermicelli $12.50 tasted OK. It came with a lot of vermicelli. Luckily, they included some fish sauce to make this less boring. The taste reminded of the little styrofoam snack sized to-go plates at the defunct Chinatown Little Paris restaurant at the old location where they put all the meats on top. Inside you''ll find a table or two to eat there, but this is definitely more of a grab 'n go kind of place. Verdict: For the price, the Bahn Mis here are tough to beat! Solid mom and pop banh mi stop in Sunset. Came around 4pm and they were already sold out of a ton of offerings. They accept venmo which is convenient. We wanted the pork banh mi but they ran out, so we got the teriyaki chicken instead. While not super traditional, the banh mi was still delicious! It was served on a bread that's different from the usual french baguette, but I liked this bread regardless. It's really hard to find a good banh mi sandwich outside of the Tenderloin and the only place frequented in the Sunset has really gone downhill since the pandemic. I came across this place on a Yelp search and I had to try. It's a small mom & pop place, similar to what I've seen in the Tenderloin. It is strictly a takeout establishment--no inside seating when I visited. I ordered the pate, combination and a BBQ pork, shredded pork & fried egg rice plate. Good, solid sandwiches, the combination was good, however I thought the pate was only so-so. Rice plate was good, I thought the egg was a little over cooked, nonetheless it was still good.
