I was looking for a quick lunch as I was buzzing through San Francisco, and happened upon Ty Sandwich. This is definitely going down as one of the less favorable lunches I've had in San Francisco. I ordered a Thai iced tea, and this has to be one of the worst Thai teas I've ever had. It lacked everything. It did not taste like Thai tea, I can't even begin to figure out what it was, but it was not worth paying for let alone drinking. The grilled pork banh mi was calling my name. I really wish that it hadn't. Allegedly they make their sandwiches traditionally, but I could not taste the pate. The bread was lightly toasted so it had that nice crunch and that was the best part of the sandwich. Grilled pork was nicely seasoned, but it was super chewy and tough, which made it difficult to even attempt to enjoy the sandwich. The people that work there were nice, but the food not so much.

Ty Sandwich is a casual shop serving delicious banh mi for about $10 a pop. I tried the grilled pork and combination sandwiches. Both were solid. Parking isn't easy. I witnessed a lot of double parking. Definitely call your order ahead in advance for efficiency.

One of my fave viet coffees! Not too strong and not super sweet. Love it! The pork and the chicken bahn mi is pretty solid too if you ever want to try it! Services is always fast and they are always very sweet. It is small so you can linger around inside and wait or wait outside. Parking can suck but thats all of Mission st.

Oh inflation! Anyways, let's move on to my review... I got the grilled chicken with extra pate. The sandwich was pretty good. The pate nice and creamy. The veggies had a good crunch and pickle. The filling a good amount of chicken. I don't believe I tried any of the rolls, so cannot comment on that. The drinks looked standard. Not my cup of tea, (Or should I say coffee?) I like all my drinks pretty plain. Meaning no milk or sugar. Solid spot for banh mi, tho a little pricey.

    Fancy Pork with Pate Sandwich
    Eric B.

This is becoming my favorite spot in the city for banh mi. It is relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of places and is actually delicious. The fancy pork with pate was on point because the creaminess of the pate balanced so well with the pickled carrots and the bread. The pate might not be for everybody but once you grow on it, it's very tasty!

I've driven past this place hundreds of times while visiting family and friends without giving it a second thought. Then one hungry afternoon, powered by equal parts curiosity and an empty stomach, I decided to stop by...and boy, was I glad I did. As you walk in, you notice a cozy little grocery store to your right, stocked with an abundance of household staples at fair neighborhood prices. It's the kind of place that reminds you of old-school corner markets where the owners actually seem to care that you found the milk. But on your left... A glorious smorgasbord of premium deli meats, fresh salads, and enough sandwich combinations to make your lunch break turn into a full-blown identity crisis. "Do I want turkey? Pastrami? Roast beef? Why not all three?" The menu is massive, and every option seems to whisper, "You deserve this." With extremely FRIENDLY prices. I landed on the legendary #3 SF Giants Hoagie, and it arrived looking like it had been assembled by sandwich architects with advanced engineering degrees. Generously stacked with roast beef and pastrami, American and cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce, garlic aioli, spicy chipotle, coleslaw, onions, pickles, tomatoes, and the finishing touch--jalapeños--it wasn't just a sandwich, it was an edible skyscraper. Every bite delivered another layer of flavor. Smoky, tangy, creamy, spicy, crunchy...it was like the ingredients had formed a tiny support group and agreed to make my afternoon significantly better. The best part is that Oxbridge Market doesn't try to be trendy. There are no neon signs telling you to "Live, Laugh, Latte," no deconstructed sandwiches served on roofing shingles, and no avocado charging you rent. Just quality ingredients, generous portions, and people who know how to make an outstanding sandwich. It's hidden neighborhood gems like Oxbridge Market that give San Francisco its character and keep local communities thriving by providing walkable access to food, fostering daily social connections, and keeping local money circulating within the area. By tailoring their offerings to residents, these stores become deeply integrated into the local culture. While everyone else waits an hour for the latest social media food craze, I'll happily be grabbing another Giants Hoagie from this unassuming little market. Some treasures are buried under sand. The best ones are hiding behind a grocery aisle. Five stars, an empty plate, and absolutely zero regrets. Come hungry and Go Big!!!

Order there and grab a bag of chips + a drink from the store to enjoy with your sandwich! No matter what sandwich you choose from their extensive menu, Dutch crunch bread is a must. I like how their Dutch crunch has the perfect amount of crunch (satisfying, while not being too crunchy to the point where the roof of your mouth is scraped up). It's also not overly sweet compared to other Dutch crunch breads I've tried. I usually get either the Cali Club with provolone or the Oxbridge Special (formerly known as 2. Atomic 47 on their old menu; also isn't listed on their current menu board but it's listed on their GrubHub). The Cali Club is almost like an elevated BLTA. Perfect if you want a sandwich that's both hearty and fresh. The Oxbridge Special is mildly spicy and the roast beef in it is savory and juicy. Definitely come by if you're ever in the area!

I had passed by it countless times on my bike ride to work without giving it a second thought -- until a co-worker suggested we stop in for lunch. That single visit changed everything. What I found was not just convenience, but quality. The menu was packed with deli classics, and the vibe was laid-back and welcoming, full of regulars who clearly knew this was the spot. I went with the Hot Pastrami Sandwich, and I still think about that first bite. Made with Boar's Head Top Round Pastrami -- hand-trimmed, rich, and smoky -- it was layered generously and coated with spices that hit all the right notes. The meat had that perfect deli texture, tender yet hearty.. They clearly take pride in what they serve, and it shows in every bite. It wasn't overloaded or sloppy -- just expertly made and full of flavor, the kind of sandwich that makes you slow down and savor it. What makes New College Hill Market even more special is the atmosphere. It's that kind of neighborhood shop where the cashier greets regulars by name, and even if you're new, you feel like you belong. Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or discovering it for the first time, it's the kind of place that leaves an impression. For me, it's become a top lunch destination in the city -- unassuming, affordable, and blasting in flavors!

This grocery/convenience store has your typical products you would see, like liquor, sodas, snacks, i.e., candy, chips, ice cream, but they even sell things like shampoo, cold/flu meds and lottery tickets! The store may have what you need so you won't have to run to Target, Walgreens or CVS. They don't have music or a tv in the background; it's quiet and peaceful. We noticed this because it was Super Bowl Sunday and they don't have a tv, so we had to go online to check the score. *** OUR PICKS*** RIB EYE STEAK SANDWICH W/SWISS CHEESE ON DUTCH CRUNCH ~ While ordering this, I told myself, this is gonna be GREAT! I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this sandwich! But when I took a bite, all I could taste was salt?! I'm not sure if the steak was over seasoned or the Swiss cheese made it salty from being cooked, but I've never had that happen when making a sandwich at home. Since there's no place to eat it at the store, we took it home and tried adding more lettuce and avocado to offset the saltiness, but even that didn't help. By the end of the day, I couldn't get my ring off my finger! It was swollen from the amount of salt in the sandwich because that's the only thing I ate. I drank lots of water, but I became bloated. Next time, I'll nix the cheese and order another kind of sandwich and hopefully have a better experience. 3/5 ROAST BEEF & PASTRAMI W/PROVOLONE CHEESE ON DUTCH CRUNCH ~ this was better than the steak sandwich. My guy had this one. It was salty, but it didn't overpower my tastebuds or the sandwich. I only took a bite to try. 4/5 While jalapeño peppers and pepperoncini are sour, spicy and salty, the meat shouldn't be overwhelmingly salty too then the whole sandwich wouldn't be pleasant to eat. There needs to be something bland to balance it. Now in this steak sandwich, I didn't even add jalapeños or pepperoncini. I only had pickles, onions, lettuce, tomatoes. Yet the salt cut through it all and hit me. I believe someone got overzealous with the salt shaker not realizing it was too much. Of course, the customer finds out after taking a bite! Though I think there should be some quality control in making sure it's done right. Maybe taste testing should be a thing. We may come around again and give them another shot. We really enjoyed it the first time and we were hoping for a repeat, but disappointingly, it didn't go as planned.

The shop itself is pretty small, mostly enough room for the ordering and pickup lines plus a little space while you wait. We visited around 11am on a Monday and it was already busy. The walls are covered with San Francisco sports memorabilia, which gives the place some character. There were at least five employees working behind the counter, all moving efficiently and cranking out multiple sandwiches at once. They clearly have their process dialed in. We ordered the S1 with avocado, salami, and cheddar instead of Swiss, loaded with all the toppings. The salami was thick cut and high quality. I was surprised when they put it in the oven, but it ended up being one of the best parts of the sandwich. Everything came together really well. We also ordered the S6 hot pastrami with extra meat and extra cheese. It was hot, melty, and packed with flavor. Easily the best hot pastrami sub I've had. From the food to the service, this was a five-star experience. We'll definitely be back.

I am not normally a pastrami fan, but I think it works exceedingly well with the other elements in this sandwich (turkey, cheese, corned beef). The bread was fresh, and the service was quick.
