They mixed up my off-menu request and gave me five-spice chicken instead of lemongrass, and the chicken flavor completely overpowered the sandwich. I couldn't taste any of the essential components like the pate, mayo, or Maggi seasoning. On top of that, the pork spring rolls were a mess, wrapped so loosely that they fell apart immediately. I was looking for a quick lunch as I was buzzing through San Francisco, and happened upon Ty Sandwich. This is definitely going down as one of the less favorable lunches I've had in San Francisco. I ordered a Thai iced tea, and this has to be one of the worst Thai teas I've ever had. It lacked everything. It did not taste like Thai tea, I can't even begin to figure out what it was, but it was not worth paying for let alone drinking. The grilled pork banh mi was calling my name. I really wish that it hadn't. Allegedly they make their sandwiches traditionally, but I could not taste the pate. The bread was lightly toasted so it had that nice crunch and that was the best part of the sandwich. Best Banh Mi I've had in SF. I am use to the quality of Wesminister (Little Saigon) banh mis and this place doesn't miss. I ordered the lemon grass beef banh mi and it was absolutely delicious. The aromas had me salivating. Biting into the flavors are prominent with the perfect texture of sinking your teeth in with a crunch of fermented veggies and jalapeños.
