I try to limit myself to Banh Mi Place just once a week as a treat, but honestly it's hard. The tofu banh mi is delicious and an incredible value. The bread is pillowy-soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The veggies are always crisp and bright. The mix of tofu, mayo, sriracha, and cilantro are vegan sandwich perfection. Saw this small spot had great reviews. And the reviews don't lie. The bahn mi sandwich was perfect. I got the chicken white meat. The sauce and meat and bread all went well together. Usually I think bahn mi bread is too crunchy but this was just right. Had a good crunch but still soft and fresh. Fiancé got the tofu bahn mi which is similar flavor as the chicken. I must have ordered on a bad day because it is lacking in all the flavors that should go in a Vietnamese sandwich. I've eaten enough Bahn mi's in my lifetime to know how it should taste. The pickled carrots are lacking in flavor. It's like they accidentally switched the batch of pickled carrots with the freshly cut bland carrots. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt since there are so many good reviews for this restaurant. It is rather unfortunate that Banh Mi Place is so close to my apartment. It is so good, far too convenient and really inexpensive! I usually get the grilled pork sandwich and it is stuffed full of deliciousness. The flavors all blend together and the baguette is soft and flaky. We had a thrilling lunch today. Amazing. Fresh rolls giant and fresh. Zesty tasty pork with brown rice a little well done but yummy nevertheless. Authentic Pho with rare beef needed to be spiced with hot sauce and hoisin. But the piece de resistance the classic Banh Mi!! That was the highlight. Crunchy yet soft bread and pure joy filling. Came here for a light lunch before going to work. Had their shredded chicken sandwich and summer shrimp roll. They were able to service me quickly with the food and I had my lunch in the restaurant. There was nothing special about their food as I have been to many Vietnamese spots around Brooklyn. I was a bit ticked off that they didn't allow me to use their bathroom facilities. How does a place serve food and not allow people to use their bathrooms. The place currently has over 15 seats in the establishment. The owner of the store was not only great to me but accommodating to every customer that walked in through the door. It's also in close range to the Brooklyn Museum/Botanic Garden. I wanted to try Bahn Mi after watching a video on Facebook about them. I was not expecting much from a little whole in the wall but I was pleasantly surprised! The sandwiches are made to order I had the pork chop Bahn Mi. It was a great blend of flavors and textures. I love the sweet salty pork with the crisp cucumber and the carrots are pickled I think but still crisp all on a nice toasty bun.
