When more guests started coming in they just left the mop standing in the middle of the floor to go man the cashier. If you are looking for authentic Vietnamese banh mi, this is not it. These sandwiches lack the depth and umami that make a banh mi a banh mi. We were done after about a quarter of each sandwich but we had a few hours before heading home and did not want to leave food in the car so we forced ourselves to finish. We added jalapeños and they cut thick long slices instead of thin round ones. The bread itself was probably the best part of the whole sandwich. Five Spice Pork Belly ($12.95) + Fried Egg ($1.95): It was alright and the better of the two banh mi we tried but the flavors were quite subtle. I absolutely loved everything I tried here. As a vegan it's hard to find restaurants that cater to my dietary preferences so I was very excited to see this restaurants menu and the number of items (including dessert) that I could order. I tried the edamame falafel bao, tofu bao, tempeh banh mi, and vegan chocolate cheesecake and everything tasted great. I especially was a fan of the edamame falafel bao. Ordered the trio Bao with friend chicken, pork, and tofu. The fried chicken was on the drier side, but it didn't taste too bad. All three was okay. I also had a Thai iced tea and the total came to about $24, which is pretty high. I will check out there banh mi next time. Hopefully it's more authentic than the boas. read more

Bahn Mis: My friends ordered the grilled lemongrass chicken (4/5) and the five-spice pork belly bahn mi (4/5) respectively. They were quite impressive, especially the chicken. The five-spice pork belly was marinated just as well, but I would prefer the chicken. However, I was disappointed by tempeh satay bahn mi (2/5). I only tasted the daikon and the vegetable. Not so much on neither tempeh nor satay. I wouldn't recommend them. Bao Bun - Bao Trios (soft shell crab - 5/5, five-spice pork belly - 4/5, vietucky fried chicken - 3.5/5): All three of us agreed that soft shell crab was the best. Five-spice pork belly is eh. I am not so sure if vietucky fried chicken is the appropriate name since there's kimchi in it. The kimchi was indeed outstanding and complement the slightly bland fried chicken well, but because there's kimchi, it's more Korean than Viet...? But yeah, if I go back, I would 100% order the soft shell crab bao bun again. Sides: - Red Curry Mac N Cheese 4.5/5: Just a disclaimer, I am a sucker for mac n cheese. I am surprised how well the slightly sweetness of the red curry complements the mac n cheese so well. And it's not too spicy (red curry technically is not too spicy). - Sriracha Fries 4/5: My friends who love sriracha love this. I am not very biased towards this so I don't have much to say. This was my second time here as an out of towner. It's been a few years and the quality still hasn't dipped. The bread is airy and crispy. The ingredients are fresh and bright. The meat is tender and seasoned well. All around Bahn Mi Station is making incredible sandwiches. I ordered a lemongrass chicken bahn mi and it was devoured quickly. I added sriracha and jalapeños to compliment the pickled carrots, onion, cilantro and avocado. My second favorite - the Summer Rolls and the coconut-based peanut sauce.. always YUM! I've tried the brisket in coconut curry bahn mi & the lemongrass chicken bahn mi is great, the bread has that special crunch to it. Can't wait to try the 5-spice pork belly! The best Banh Mi will never come from a place with Banh Mi in the name, but this will give you a quick fix if you need it. The food is usually solid for but never an exception. It's one of those places I go when I need a Banh Mi fix but there's no where closer. If you find yourself here, I highly recommend the 5 spice Banh mi or the Bao Buns. The Sriracha fries are a good time. But overall it's just a bit too expensive and a bit underwhelming. Manh mi station is primarily Vietnamese subs, which happens to be one of the sandwiches I find most enjoyable. Pretty simple concept: order at the counter kiosk, grab a table and wait for the food to be delivered table side. I go for the spring rolls and the pork belly banh mi. The rolls are extra crispy and come with a sweet dipping sauce. Satisfaction achieved! Now on to the main character. Did I mention it is 5 spice pork belly? Who can possible resist? The sandwich itself is enormous and comes filled with a generous portion of pork belly.....tender and flavorful. The one downside, the bread(which I know Is normally crispy in a typical banh mi) might be a little too crispy and doesn't have enough chew. But still a good sandwich overall. read more

They raved about how great it was, although I've been to authentic Vietnamese places in Arlington and Richardson that serve legit bánh mì and bánh bao in those cash-only spots. That said, since it's not too spicy or overly seasoned, I can see why it's rated the "top bun bao" spot by folks new to Vietnamese cuisine. The spot isn't even owned by a Vietnamese family (Thai owned). It's a vegan-friendly spot, which is encouraging to see in this area. The interior is immaculately clean, and the decor is subtle yet bold with accent wall enhancements. The menu is short, straightforward, but rewarding. On the flip side: When you walk in, there is an order line and a pick-up line. The college student cashier had us waiting five minutes until the owner in the kitchen flagged that we needed to order. There is a large iPad-like kiosk facing the cashier that was offline (during lunch hour, no less), and we were asked to move to the pickup line to place our order. While the ordering took about 10 minutes, the food was out in less time than that. I'll return but only if my kids ask me to. As a Viet and pescatarian girly, it's hard to find banh mi options. Banh Mi Station has one of my favorite banh mi -- Buffalo chik'n, and I'm not even mad it's a fusion flavor. The baos are also absolutely delicious and always come out fresh -- especially the soft shell crab one. Takeout or dine-in, the food is always great. Service is always quick and easy. Whenever i'm in Dallas I make sure to stop by and grab a bao bun and bahn mi on my way back to Fort Worth. The staff is always very friendly and puts up with all my questions about their menu. With a variety of bao buns, including vegan bao buns (the buns are always vegan here), you can get almost anything you're in the mood for. Their Vietucky Fried Chicken bao is arguably their best menu item. The chicken is always tender and juicy and works so well with the soft, freshly made bao buns. The salmon bao is interesting so you relaly have to be in the mood for this item. The pork belly is very flavorful and you'll regret only ordering one. The tofu bao is good but I wish the tofu was more fried so it wouldn't blend in with the soft chewy texture of the bao bun. The panko bao bun is very good but the chicken option is very smiliar/better. The grilled lemongrass chicken bahn mi is my go to but it is a bit safe. If you are wanting to go to "flavor town" I suggest trying their brisket in coconut curry bahn mi. I'm ready to go back just writing this review. 11/10 would recommend to anyone, even if Vietnamese is out of their comfort zone. read more
