Tried Sandoitchi recently and overall it was a solid experience!! Cajun Ebi sando: couldn't really taste much Cajun seasoning, but still a pretty good sandwich overall. The fried shrimp and a good texture and wasn't overcooked. Chicken katsu: wasn't my favorite. It was fine, just not something I'd reorder. The sauce leaned way too sweet for me, the chicken wasn't very juicy, and it lacked flavor. The bread on both sandos was okay but not what I was hoping for. It felt more like American white bread than Japanese milk bread, which is more fluffy and slightly sweet. Also could've used a bit more mayo since the sandwich did taste a little dry. Drinks: I appreciate the creativity of the drinks. However, the matcha was just okay but I could notice the clumps suspended in the milk, so i had to keep on stirring my drink as I continued to sip. The matcha flavor itself was weak and got overpowered by the other ingredients. The ube mango lassi, though, was solid. All the drinks were too sweet for me though. Prices are on the higher side for what you get, but the food was still enjoyable and convenient if you're craving a sando and don't want to think too hard about it. Stopped by Sando Ichi after visiting the Perot Museum of Nature and Science - great location for a post-museum bite, but fair warning: street parking is a challenge. We tried the Cajun ebi shrimp katsu sando, wagyu burger katsu sando, crispy Japanese sweet potatoes, and elote corn karaage. Flavor-wise, everything was solid to excellent - the shrimp katsu was especially tasty, and the sides were fun and well-seasoned. That said, the wagyu burger katsu was a letdown. Because it's deep-fried, the patty was severely overdone, which feels particularly disappointing when you're paying a premium for wagyu. At that point, the specialness of the meat is kind of lost. Which brings me to the biggest issue: the prices are crazy for what you get. Great flavors, yes - but the execution and value don't quite justify the cost. Worth trying once, especially if you're already in the area, but not somewhere I'm rushing back to anytime soon. read more

I've been going to sandoitchi since they had pop ups years ago. The store front is in downtown and it's pretty small and meant for a quick bite as there isn't a ton of seating. The service was good and standard. As for the food, I ordered the spicy katsu sandwich, yuzu arnold palmer, a strawberry matcha, a matcha donut and ube donut. Ngl I was disappointed with the flavor and amount of meat in the sandwich. It just tasted like buffalo sauce and only one slice of meat in a pretty small $12 sandwich. The strawberry matcha and yuzu palmer were great tho and I'd recommend. The donuts were okay and the matcha donut was not my favorite and was not well balanced and overpowered by the dough, but the ube donut was great since there was filling inside which really helped it. Overall, I'd recommend trying sandoitchi but was just disappointed with the portion sizing of the sandwich and matcha donut. read more

I got a couple of drinks that had a ton of flavor (and calories) and tried their ube donut with matcha frosting which was unique and tasty and substantial and comes in an adorable little box. We came on Fourth of July and they were closed by the time we came so we came the next day. We went and got a Matcha at a different location and then came here for our breakfast Sandos. We got the watermelon one to share, and it was so delicious. The cream was thick and flavorful and wasn't too sweet. The only thing that I would say is not the same as the ones in Japan is the bread did not seem like it was made out of milk bread. The bread wasn't as soft as the ones in Japan. I still loved it though! I wanted to try some other ones but I thought I better just eat a half of one for now as to not eat too many calories. They had a bunch of different flavors and it looked like a lot of them were ready to go, so as soon as we ordered, one was handed to us. Service was very fast. read more

It's a tiny spot conveniently located downtown; There are a few seats inside and most chairs being out front, however the staff is fairly quick, efficient, and super friendly with taking orders and giving recommendations. I ended up getting the truffle chicken sandwich, matcha donut (they ran out of the ube donut which they said was the most popular), and the strawberry matcha latte. Everything was delicious and fitting for a quick and not too heavy of a lunch. I think the price of the sandwich is a little steep for the size, however the flavor did not disappoint. Finally I checked out Sandoitchi, and yes--it's a bit on the pricier side (sandwiches start around $10), but I honestly think it's worth it. The flavor is there. I got the chicken katsu sando and it was hot, crispy, and super satisfying. Also tried the mango sando--which was really good too, like dessert in sandwich form . Definitely one of the better sando spots in the Dallas area. Considering they're right across from The Eye, I'm sure rent's not cheap, so the pricing makes sense. Order at the counter and they make the sandwiches right behind you. I know concept is no crust but they make the sandwich then cut off the excess including chicken and toppings which is such a waste. The sandwiches unfortunately were super bland. I got the egg sando which needed salt desperately. The chicken one was too chewy and not enjoyable. The fries were pretty standard frozen fries, nothing particularly special. The matcha latte, however, seemed to be made with authentic matcha, which I appreciated. It came unsweetened, and the only sweetener option available was honey, so keep that in mind if you prefer a sweeter drink. There's very limited seating, and the shop closes early, so plan accordingly. We also tried the dessert fruit sandwich, which was enjoyable. As expected, the sandwiches are on the pricey side, making this more of a one-time experience unless you're really craving a Japanese sando. My friends and I stumbled upon Sandoitchi after walking around Downtown Dallas, and we were intrigued by the branding of the restaurant, so we went in to see what it was. The restaurant itself is relatively small - there's only a few counter seats (~6 or so) but there's some seating outside the restaurant as well. The menu consists of different types of Sandos, but hot/cold or savory/sweet, and different types of matcha as well. My friends and I weren't that hungry, so we got one sando to split between the three of us. We ended up choosing the Spicy Chicken Truffle Sando, and WOW it was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly, with a crispy breading that added to every bite, and the truffle sauce was delicious. Highly recommend, added plus is that the restaurant has a fantastic view of the Dallas Eye. read more

Time for lunch: Cajun EBI Shrimp sando with Cucumber salad. Never had one so this is my first experience. Sat outside and was fortunate that we were on the shade side of Main. There are a few countertop seats inside. Sando was hot - presentation is 100 - loved the crisp of the seaweed covering of the internal sandwich. Cukes salad was nice and crunchy. Didn't pick up the spicy side until several bites because the sesame dressing was somewhat bland. I was ok with that though. Rated a 4 because as with lots of downtown areas, lunch can be pricy - spent close to $30 for the meal with a drink. Finally got to try Sandoitchi - this popup sando shop has been around for years, but I just got my hands on it at their location in Downtown Dallas! The years of waiting and reading about the hype were well worth it. I will say parking is a little challenging as it's mostly street parking, but there's plenty of outdoor seating for you to enjoy your food once you get past that hurdle. My sister and I ordered the spicy truffle chicken, shrimp ebi cheeze, and a matcha latte and our food was brought out quickly to us! The bread was oh so soft and squishy and did a good job of retaining structure as it didn't get soggy. Spicy truff had a nice heat, but I particularly enjoyed how unique the ebi tasted with the shrimp. Lastly, the matcha is absolutely to die for. This place is absolutely super and their food is so unique. It's downtown so unfortunately the parking situation is hit or miss. It's right next to the eyeball. There's not a lot of places to sit and since it's downtown when sometimes people who did not buy anything will sit in the chairs in the area. Nevertheless the food was awesome! We have been here 2 times Pork katsu sando: I usually don't love these things but this sando was packed with umami flavor and had a great texture. Super yummy: Chicken sando: this didn't look like it's picture at all. I think the picture looked like large pieces of chicken sando style but when it came out it was more chicken salad sandwich style. Husband liked it. Ube mango lassi: sooo nice. Yeahhh! I finally tried this place . I ordered it on Doordash, so I can't give my view of service or ambience. I ordered the egg salad sando and scallop flavored Lay's. The box and bag it was delivered in were very cute. Nice touch. On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being the best, the sandwich was easily a 20. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. No one seasoning was overpowering. The chips were addictive. From what I've noticed is they rotate the chips out, so I'll be trying other flavors down the line. read more

I don't know what the Japanese versions of these are like but I've always wanted to try them and I won't be in Japan anytime soon.... So here we are... Things I tried: - Cheeseburger: I think the meat and the cheese was delicious but the bread is a little too soft to handle that combo. The drinks were also good as I had a strawberry matcha and the strawberry was really sweet so mix it well so it combines with the matcha for the perfect flavor combo. ORDER Egg Salad Sando - The egg salad sando has scrambled eggs surrounding a soft boiled egg. Kewpie mayo really ties everything together and makes the eggs so yummy with the bread. There's also pepper on it which adds more flavor to the egg sando. Fruit Salad Cream Sando - Let me just start by saying the cream is so good. It's light, fluffy, and not too sweet. The cream goes really well with the fresh fruit. Mine came with orange, strawberry, kiwi, and pineapple. I really liked this one over the egg sando one. Strawberry Matcha Latte - The strawberry matcha latte was pretty good. The drink was a bit on the nuttier side due to the oat milk but it still tasted really good. The strawberry was nice and sweet at the bottom and helped balance out the nutty flavor of the drink. I will say that I was expecting the bread to be a bit more on the fluffier side, but it did seem like pretty basic bread. Lowkey I would say that the price is pretty expensive for what's given, but for the vibes! VIBES The place is pretty small inside with very very limited seating. Outside there is some seating as well but not too much. It's across the Giant Eyeball sculpture which is pretty cool. SERVICE Service was pretty good! All the food and drinks came out very fast. I used to frequent these pop ups during the pandemic and was excited to see they had a storefront downtown. I popped in. It's a tiny shop with a small patio out front with a direct view of the eye in front of it. It was early Sunday afternoon and busy. They were already out of egg sandos so I ordered the strawberry and cream, classic chicken, and spicy truffle chicken. The wait was about 30 minutes. For a sando the bread is everything. You expect nice pillowy soft milk bread cut to perfection. This seemed to be regular bread, not fresh, odd cuts with crust on one side or the other. The strawberries weren't ripe so they were hard. The classic chicken katsu had absolutely not taste. I could taste a HINT of wasabi or horseradish in the cabbage or sauce but that was it... it was very mild. The spice on the spicy sando seemed to be hot sauce and it was ok. Though a former fav, the quality doesn't live up to the cost now. I don't think I will be visiting again. read more

I went to your pop-up store in Denver, located inside the Source hotel's building. Your Matcha drinks are great! I had your Strawberry matcha latte and Horchata Matcha. We went to your pop-up store twice. First time we waited in line for about 20 mins, which was fine to us. But the second time we went, the line was triple in length from the last time. So our group decided not to have your drinks that day. If you'd like to improve your customer satisfaction, please do not come back ever again to the Source building as your pop-up or permanent location. The parking issue at the Source hotel is very frustrating. We got stuck inside the parking building for more than 15 minutes, just trying to get out. There is only one lane for paying parking fee and the shops there do not validate our parking. The building charges extensive fees with only one hour free parking, the next hour is $8, the following hour is $16. With the line to order your drinks of about 20 minutes to an hour plus traffic inside the parking building, customers easily have to pay a minimum of $8 for every time they visit this parking building. If I go just to buy one drink of $10 and I have to pay $8 for parking, I don't think I can justify the parking fee. If you come back to Denver, we'd love to visit your shop again. Therefore, please do not come back to the Source hotel's building again next time if you'd like to improve your clients' satisfaction. I hope you understand our frustration. read more
