It was a Friday morning and I felt like walking to get a treat. I've tried Caffe Vita, Fremont Coffee, so this was the next place to explore! As I got a different beverage at each spot, I can't confidently say one is better than the other because it wouldn't be a fair comparison. If you follow my reviews, you know i'm not a coffee person, so I always get a tea option (with milk). This time, it was the chai tea and like reviewers said, it was tasty! They use a chai concentrate (as oppose to a tea bag). The price of this chai is definitely on the more affordable side ($4.75 for the 16oz). They seem to have a good study area (although their music is kind of loud) and have wifi. I would say it's less secluded of a study space though because it's an open area. That being said, I did see quite a few folks on their laptops working and a few chatting. No dogs allowed here though! read more

I really like Café Lodro. I love the roasted coffee and this one in West Seattle is a cute little shop. I often by a bag of coffee so that I can get coffee for home and they give you a free cup coffee for purchasing a bag. This place gives you 12 ounces but I wanted 16 ounces... it morning am I am tired. They said they could change me for a 8oz if I wanted a 16oz. Well I just got the 12oz. Paying full price for 8oz to get 4oz more coffee and the price difference between a 12oz and a 16oz drip coffee... it all just didn't make sense. Probably the last time I go here. Sad. Victrola has really good roast coffee as well and is much more generous. read more

Caffe Ladro is a cute little coffee shop in West Seattle. They have everything you need: coffee, tea, hot chocolate, frozen drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and free wifi. I'm really happy that they are still open during the Coronavirus quarantine (even Starbucks is closed). Of course, it is take-out only right now, but I felt completely safe while I was there. After I ordered my drink, I swiped my own credit card and the barista said I didn't have to sign the receipt. They do have a "three person maximum" right now, so if there are already customers inside, you might have to wait outside until someone leaves. My cappuccino was perfect (even better than Starbucks!) and I'm happy to help support a local business. They also have a loyalty card, so I will definitely check it out the next time I'm there. read more

I went with my siblings, their drinks tasted good (lattes) can't complain, however, I ordered an iced 16oz Americano... and I hate to ask for my drink to be remade but I think it's fair to say if you don't enjoy the drink you paid for, it is acceptable to ask for it to be remade.... well they do get annoyed if you do it here... but that's not even the bad part, they do not know how to make an americano here, they did only 2 shots over some ice and a bunch of water in a 20oz cup so my drink was flavorless! They said that they have posted how many shots are in their sizes of drinks but number one, I asked for a 16 they gave me a 20 oz. Cup with only 2 shots even though the 20 oz. Says it should have 3 shots and now we two, an americano is supposed to have 1 more shot than other coffee drinks. Also hated that they put water in my iced americano... some people may like it like that but I personally think it ruins it. Moral of my review... they should learn how to make americanos since the dude admitted that's how "other places make americanos but not here" like....? So they knowingly make the drink incorrectly. read more

It's not on the way to work kind of stop since it's out of the way but I do come here pretty often on the weekends and when I have random days off like yesterday haha. Couldn't go to work yesterday due to police closure so I went and got breakfast here. The staff are always so sweet and will converse if they're not slammed. The barista made me a favorite everyone's been requesting lately which consist of honey and orange zest. Really delicious but my favorite is probably still the honey lavender they have during the summer. read more

"A West Seattle neighborhood favorite" Someone said that this is typical hipster cafe and I beg to differ. This place has been serving great coffee way before West Seattle transitioned to a hipster joint. This is my go to work spot as the coffee is good, strong and consistent. Staff is always friendly and welcoming at all times. I would occasionally encounter noisy patrons but nothing a noise canceling headphones can fix. This is one of the neighborhood gems that still gives you the small town vibes and they need to stay for a very long time. read more

Ordered delivery, so can't say much about the physical location. But the items I ordered were all stellar. Probably one of the best food + coffee combos I've had so far in Seattle. + Medici - vibrant orange flavors and orange peel. I don't know which came first, Broadcast Coffee's Borgia or this. But they taste pretty much exactly the same, except that whether by accident or not I got a much larger version than I was expecting! Great value, if that's the default size. I'll say the same thing I said about the Borgia - it's an orange mocha, and as someone who dislikes orange-chocolate concoctions, this turned me on to the flavor combination. Here, it is executed vibrantly with the perfect amount of subtle sweetness and citrus. + Chocolate Chip Ultimate Cookie - I wasn't expecting one of my favorite chocolate chip cookies in Seattle to arrive from a coffee shop, but here it is. I love the thin, nearly caramelized mouthfeel of the buttery body and the fresh, rich dark chocolate chip discs. I was saving it for later but couldn't stop eating it. + Morning Glory Muffin - again, this blew me away! Lots of flavors, buttery and moist muffin with an unexpected surprise of a cream cheese top. Just the right amount of subtle sweetness, to trick you into eating dessert for breakfast. Fantastic. + Shakerato - I've had a couple of shakeratos and even made my own before, and this was great. We're just in town for a wedding and popped in for a pick me up. Ordered a couple of cappuccinos which were fine. It's a nice place to sit and enjoy your coffee. Unfortunately felt the barista had a rude tone telling us where the line starts. There was no sign or line to indicate the flow of customers. I used to absolutely love this place, used to be amazing coffee. Now every time I go in there the barista can't make my drink right. Which is fascinating because I have such a basic drink. And then the management turned over too many times, and then the coffee was horrible, the atmosphere not welcoming he staff rude and it always made you feel like you are in a cafeteria. So I stopped going. I heard a rumor that business was sold by Jack, and then purchased by someone else, so I thought I would try again. Regardless if that's true or not it saddens me that the coffee has never been the way it used to be. The woman who manages at now is a fabulous human, kind and sweet and moves fast. However, sometimes moving fast isn't necessary because the coffee is still not tasting very good. Everything it's too hot, there's never foam on my drink, and it's like being in a Drive-Thru to the tune of $5 a cup for a latte, it needs to be better. read more

I love their coffee, I think it's some of the best on earth!! But for some reason the coffee at this location is not as delicious as the others. Also beware that when they get busy as they often do, mistakes happen at a high rate. I asked for alternative non dairy milk in all 3 of my beverages, and received dairy product anyway. I had an allergic reaction (which is why I asked for non dairy to begin with). This is the 2nd time it's happened with both hot drinks and blended drink orders, so I won't be coming back here. read more

Also if you're driving, you'll have to find street parking which can be limited depending on the time of day. I ended up just getting a hot chocolate. It was pretty good. I wanted to update my star rating after taking with management/owners as they did what they could to try to resolve my concern. I feel had they been on the front line- they would have treated me well. As a small business owner, i understand how hard it is to hire and keep good employees. Unfortunately, they got an employee who handled an uncomfortable situation wrong. They can't take it back but they did try. I've never had good experiences here in the last 15 years I've been going here. I should have left a bad review years ago but was never pushed over the edge till today. The only reason I've continued to go to this location is due the the fact it's the closest coffee shop to my house. -I don't like the coffee or food -the staff have always been exceptionally rude to me Today, I walk my daughter to the pastry area, read her the options available. We were going to get a cookie before preschool and we specifically walked over to cafe Ladro to do so. This was supposed to be special. We took time to pick out the cookie. There was a line of people waiting to place their coffee order with the barista. Then there was another worker at the register. After someone was done paying, I asked if I could pay for the cookie. It appeared the register worker had a gap in clients waiting and paying for their coffees. She looks at me, points at the coffee line and blurts to the whole coffee shop "did you wait in line?" Was she trying to be rude? Humiliate me? Well she was successful at both. Clearly- I did not wait in the coffee line. I wasn't ordering a coffee. She was at the register so I tried to pay for a cookie. If she was Interested in keeping me as a client, a better way to handle the situation would have been to accept my money, and kindly/quietly over the counter say, I'll make sure to get you this time but technically if you want to buy anything, you have to wait In the coffee line next time. Not yell at me to the whole store. I didn't think I was being rude or prompted this in anyway. Not only was this embarrassing to me, all the other customer in line are probably humiliated for the way this woman behaved. And is embarrassing to the establishment overall. I've had multiple bad experiences here but this was it for me. I hate leaving bad reviews. But I'm also tired of how many rude people I've encountered lately. Don't we have bigger problems than to attack the mom who's trying to buy her daughter a cookie before school???!? I'll try to figure out how to forward this to management as well so they are aware of the situation and have an opportunity to resolve it. Tired of working from home, my better half and I wandered in here one afternoon for some coffee and WiFi. Itsy bitsy coffee shop cute as ever, sweetest barista on earth, and some of the best coffee in Seattle. I had the Medici Mocha which was PHENOMENAL. What is more perfect than orange and chocolate? My single complaint is that the couches in the back could use an upgrade. Too low, and too cushy. The kind of couch that you have to struggle to get out of, and when holding a cup of hot coffee, not so bueno. If the weather's nice, be sure to check out the patio on the side! read more

We've been there several times but every time we go the service is unbearably slow and the staff is not nice at all. Honestly, I recommend walking one more block to Starbucks. I know it's a corporate giant but the staff there is much nicer and you don't have to wait 20 minutes for coffee. The pastries at Ladro are good but it's expensive. I don't recommend this business. I'm a fan. This place is conveniently located on the edge of the main drag in West Seattle. It's a nice quiet and cozy spot. I tend to come here when looking for a coffee shop that is open later in the evening. The prices are roughly equivalent to all the other shops I frequent. All the baristas here are top notch, friendly, and the quality of the drink I get is super consistent. In addition to Espresso, I've noted french presses, drip, and something I have not seen in other shops: Aeropresses. I use an Aeropress at home whenever I make myself coffee, and they work very well. I was impressed to see a coffee shop use them. About the only thing that I could say is a negative is that parking is sometimes hard to come by. It's street parking, and most of West Seattle is much the same. On the plus side, the street parking in this area doesn't seem to be metered. Trade-off. read more

I used to love coming here but over the last few years it's become super crowded, not as clean, and drinks are not super consistent. For this reason, as much as I would like to lounge in the chairs our front over a breve or pop in to turn out a few hours of weekend work, I don't the way I used to. There are too many other local places that are now far cleaner and less crowded. I still like Ladro beans and the beverages are good when the baristas don't seem rushed, but I wish they would keep the floors and tables clean, don't scale the milk or over aerate the foam to get a drink made faster like they do at Starbucks most of the time, and get back to what made Ladro a staple before there were coffee shops all over. I might come back. Until then, I will have a drink outside in nicer weather because I still like those Adirondack chairs, it is convenient, and I don't have to see the filth inside ... but not very often. They were already serving a line of three, so they kindly asked me to wait outside. That is the first time I've noticed any baristas ensuring public safety at all during the pandemic, & they were totally polite about it. Other spots better step it up! Was really excited to spend my $$ at a local coffee shop. We are brand new to the area and had pretty decent expectations entering the shop. I waited in line for 15 minutes.....I realize it doesn't seem that long but literally standing in line for the morning Joe for 15 min is painstaking. To top it off the coffee was horrid and flavorless....I'm no coffee expert but the Americano was terrible and my girlfriends Chai Latte was just as bad. We threw both out on our walk back to our new town home. I really hate saying this but we will spend our $$ at the Starbucks down the street - much much faster, more convenient, and actually tastes better - I know you're shaking your head about it tasting better :(. Just a little note... when ppl walk in you might want to greet them. There may have been 6 ppl in the entire place when I walked in. 3 of them were behind the counter. One of my best friends recommended Caffe Ladro after stumbling upon it during a walk a year ago and I hadn't been able to try it out. But woke up wanting a latte. Saw a sign inside about returning flavors and Honey Lavender was on it. Easy decision! I got an iced honey lavender latte which had the perfect balance of sweetness and coffee. I also ordered a bacon and onion quiche to go which they offer to warm up for you and oh boy it was so filling and delicious! Perfect start to my morning and the coffee kept me productive throughout the day! The two women up front were very friendly and ordering was quick and easy! I will definitely be returning. read more

I admit it, I am biased. Over the years of my coming here, I have gotten to know some of the people who work there, and that will of course influence my review. So why not start there, with the staff... They rock. Not just the coffee, which in itself is a good thing, but also personalitywise, musically and servicewise. They are masters of remembering everyone's favorite drink, making just the right amount of small talk, so they don't come off as too eager or too high brow. They just rock. The coffee comes from Tony's, who also deliver to a couple of other coffeeshops on my personal shortlist of favorites. I never gave that much thought, but it can't be a coincidence. If the coffe's from Tony's, it's probably pretty darn good. And so it is at Ladro. The decor is nice and non-corporate looking, which is increasingly rare these days. They change their art frequently enough that even us regulars never get bored. And speaking of regulars, this is really the reason, I give it 5 stars. The people I have met here, are some of the strangest, funniest, smartest and weirdest, I have ever come across outside of the bar world, where people are usually drunk. I'd recommend going here simply for that reason. Tons of creative people, thinkers, tinkerers and even cops hang out at the West Seattle Ladro. It's an inpiring mix for those of us who go there to find inspiration (that's right, I observe and eavesdrop!)... So yeah, the West Seattle Ladro is my favorite coffee shop, probably anywhere in the world. Though I did warn you, I am biased. read more
