GF and I had the traditional and the chicken viet sandwiches. They were both very tasty but the juiciness of the chicken really stood out. The owner told me the secret of the sandwich is the bread and the pickled carrots...did not know that! A delicious take on the traditional viet sandwich and very unique combination of flavor and texture. The bread was crunchy and thin, perfect for stuffing extra meat and pickled carrots...and these ppl. did not skimp out on those. The contrast in the temperature of the meat and the veggies was interesting and refreshing. This meal made my visit to Brooklyn very enjoyable. A must try if you are in the neighborhood. read more

I am adding an aftermath to my below review. Yes, it was not good but the owner called me to apologize. He told me he had a new sandwich maker and that he forgot the sauce for the noodles. He took the charge off my credit card and hoped I would give Bahnmigos another chance. Any chef/owner who would go out of his way like that deserves (in my book) a second chance. I will definitely try Bahnmigos again! I had a coconut bubble tea, pork Banh mi and a noodle salad. Ok, the bubble tea was fine but the rest- yuck! The sandwich was dry, the pork like burnt shoe leather with some type of cloying sweet sauce slathered on it. The noodle salad was DRY like the Sahara- it did not come with the typical vinegary clear sauce- nope- just dry noodles, a scattering of peanuts and some cucumbers. Super unimpressed. Ordered delivery and it took over an hour on a Thursday night. When it arrived, our order was wrong. My husband got the wrong vermicelli salad (looked like shredded beef instead of shrimp-- and we don't eat beef) and we called immediately but no one answered the phone. (They must have closed.) The vermicelli salads were small for the price-- not enough for a meal-- and flavorless. The smoked duck came in suspiciously uniform, fatty slices and tasted like canned meat. Was so excited to discover this place delivered to our area, but we will definitely not order from them again! Had to cook ourselves another dinner after we salvaged what we could from the order. This was the second time I've been to this Banhmigos and it's one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a while. The first time I went there I enjoyed it so much that I decided to head there before work to grab lunch today. The cashier overcharged me and I asked about why my bill was so expensive and clarified my order more than once. She swore it was tax that made it so expensive and only gave me back 50 cents. I decided to just go with it. Anyway after waiting for over 10 mins I asked for the sandwich I had ordered and clarified my order once again and they said it was coming. A few minutes later I asked again and the other girl who was there finally looked at my order and realized the first cashier had rung me up for something completely different from what I ordered (which was why my bill was so expensive in the first place). Not only did she ring up something else so I could pay more but she left the store the first time I asked where my sandwich was so she wasn't there when the rest of the staff realized she rang up my order incorrectly. In the 15 minutes I was there I watched them mess up 3 orders. New employee or not this was completely ridiculous and I will most likely never return to this shop. read more

Just go try the grilled pork Bahn Mi ASAP. Amazing. Very good portions for the money, and the sandwiches are filled with lovely pickled carrot and daikon. The bread is very moist and fresh with a perfect crust as tho it was made on site. The Duck rolls were nice, but the single slice of duck was a bit scant relative to the rice, and the peanut hoisen sauce a bit cloying. The traditional sandwich was very nice too with a variety of meat and cilantro. Ask for it spicy and they add some very nice chopped jalapeno! I have only ordered three different things so far--the short rib sandwich, the shrimp summer roll and the vegetarian summer roll. They were the first things I ever ordered and they are so good--I mean so good--that I've ordered these three things multiple times already without trying anything else. The summer rolls are simple refreshing and perfectly executed with a super perfect peanut sauce. Peanut sauce is hard to get perfect, but they do it. And the short rib. Christ the short rib. It's the perfect amount of melted fat so that it doesn't make you feel at all gross and yet it is the tastiest thing ever. And last, but not least, the delivery guy. Best delivery guy ever. He tells you he's happy to meet you with a huge for real smile and doesn't seem at all like he's unhappy to be alive like most delivery guys. Not that I don't get that. I mean being a delivery person has got to suck most days. But this guy is above that self pity emo shit and will teach you a lesson in zen every time you see him just with the happy energy he radiates. He just left my door and I feel like I just got a visit from a karmic giant. You should tip him at least 20% every time or you're a bad person. read more

Great place for takeout. Small bar area that can fit 4-5 people eating in there at once. I always get the pork bahn-mi along with a taro bubble tea. I'd give the place five stars as it's one of my fav bahn-mi locations, but sometimes the bread is a little over-baked. I got a pork banh mi and garden roll for lunch delivery. The banh mi was delicious! Veggies and bread were fresh, pork was cooked in a yummy sauce, and it was just the right amount of spiciness. Service was quick and friendly, and the delivery guy came all the way up to my fourth-floor apartment because I have a knee injury and it's hard for me to go downstairs. The only downside to this order was that the garden roll wasn't great - too much vermicelli, not enough veggie - just one stick of cucumber in the middle of each roll.
